• This tells me one thing: Zooey can’t get a (quality) leading role in a movie. Because if she could, there’s no way she’d be doing this. Now I’m not bashing the show, because I don’t know alot about it. Plus I’ve read Liz Meriwether and she’s very talented.

  But this definitely taints Deschanel and the “cool, indie, hipster, I’m-also-in-a-band-so-isn’t-that-cool-too” vibe she’s worn so well thus far. Her loyal followers east of Vermont Ave are collectively cringing.

  • MY IDIOT BROTHER, was the largest sale at sundance and she’s coming out in YOUR HIGHNESS with james franco, danny mcbride and natalie portman – something tells me shes not exaclty desperate on the feature side. perhaps this project is special . . .or she just wants to do tv. whatever the reason, i’ll be watching. best comedy pilot news ive heard so far!

    • Neither of those films you mention are LEADING roles, nor is she the top-billed actress (Portman and Banks are). In other words, I have to believe CAA was shooting higher; she was amazing in ‘Summer’ and she should be playing roles like Summer on 2500 screens, not 500. Point is she’s not getting those shots for whatever reason (or it’s because Portman/Seyfried/etc are). I love Zooey too – huge fan – just saying it’s disappointing.
