Having just picked up four new scripted series, ABC Family is heading into the summer with its largest-ever slate of originals. With seven scripted series on tap — four new (dramas Switched at Birth, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, The Lying Game and comedy The Great State of Georgia) and three returning (dramas The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Pretty Little Liars and comedy Melissa & Joey) — ABC Family is opening up a third night of original programming this summer on Wednesday. Having for the first time a pair of half-hour comedies, Melissa & Joey and The Great State of Georgia, ABC Family will launch a comedy block on Wednesday with the two sitcoms on June 29.
Secret Life, which returns on March 28 with 24 new episodes, will serve as a launching pad for newbies Switched at Birth (premieres June 6) and The Lying Game (debuts Aug. 15). Chloe King will follow Pretty Little Liars on Tuesday starting June 14.

Has there been any word on the show Marvel is creating for ABC Family?Last year we learned they were developing two shows for ABC and one for ABC Family.We already know ABC is making AKA Jessica Jones and The Hulk, but what about ABC Family?They hinted it would be Cloak and Dagger, but we haven’t heard anything since.
I just wish they’d bring back “The Middleman.” That was a great show with fun characters. Plus, the deep-fanboy inside jokes were much appreciated.
It’s great that you’ll be presenting more original programming and bringing back some of your previously aired ones. But what ever happened to Kyle XY? It was so well written that you as a view had to listen very carefully and keep your eyes glued to the TV screen for clues during the whole show to fully appreciate the story. It’s not too late to bring it back! I would think that the actors would also be interested in participating in such a well written program. There was significantly less promotion for the series both before the last season’s premiere and during the season, unlike many of the currently airing programs. Kyle XY touched many issues that young people and families are confronted with daily. Please reconsider bringing it back even if you have taken the set down. Many thanks!
