Former Heroes star Adrian Pasdar is back at NBC, this time on the comedy side. In what would be his first regular gig on a half-hour series, Pasdar has been tapped as the male lead opposite Sarah Paulson in NBC’s untitled Kari Lizer pilot. The project, from Warner Bros TV, is a workplace comedy about Mary Leahy (Paulson), a relationship-challenged woman who, with the help of her co-workers, guides people through unexpected career transitions and downsizings. Pasdar will play Brad, a super-confident guy who has drunk sex with Mary in a bar bathroom. After seeing how charming he is, Mary and her partner ask him to join their company. This is actually Pasdar’s second comedy pilot, and both times he has been cast under Bob Greenblatt: In 2003, he did the Lifetime pilot A Screwball Homicide, which was executive produced by Greenblatt, now head of NBC, where the Lizer pilot is set. Pasdar, repped by ICM and Fidelity, recently did an arc on ABC’s comedic drama Castle.

I never liked Adrian Pasdar. I always felt that Sean Patrick Flanery would have been a much better choice as Nathan Petrelli.
That’s crazy, Flannery playing a Senator being groomed for VP in the 2nd season of that show? Ludicrous, too young plus he doesn’t match up to Milo Ventimiglia like Pasdar did as the Petrelli brothers.
Pasdar and Masi Oka’s comedic exchanges were one of the highlight’s of Heroes (Flying Man!). It doesn’t surprise me in the least that he’s doing comedy as well as drama. Looking forward to this. Bob Greenblatt gets it, looking forward to seeing what else he does at NBC.
No no no, DHS Agent Mark Fallon please.
LOVE him!
Adrian Pasdar is awesome and sadly underrated actor. I wish him good luck with this new show.
What a great cast!
To this day, Pasdar’s best role was Jim Profit.
I loved Profit! I thought I was the only person that watched this show… heheh. Good to see others out there.
That’s very interesting casting. I know the article says Adrian Pasdar has done comedy before but I too would rather have seen him as Mark Fallon in either a regular role on ABC’s Castle or his own spin-off show.
On the plus side, Kari Lizer comedies are usually very funny: Will & Grace, New Adventures of Old Christine and in Sarah Paulson you have someone who could be huge given the right show. She was so unlucky with Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. So I wish her the same success that her castmate Simon Helberg currently enjoys on The Big Bang Theory.
And also, NBC needs a new hit comedy of the like they used to have with Seinfeld, Friends, Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, etc. and I feel something like this would slot in nicely after Community and before The Office/Parks and Recreation.
NBC needs to bring multi-camera sitcoms back, but if they put one after Community it’ll die. Multi-camera comedies in single-camera lineups usually struggle because they’re not compatible with single-camera shows ,and critics bash them for having “laugh tracks” (which aren’t laugh tracks, but…).
Either NBC should clear an hour for multi-camera on Thursday, or they should find another night for them, but they have to introduce a matched pair of multi-camera shows. Or they can just stick with single-camera and give up.
Off topic, nyguy, Bob Greenblatt should have chosen Jack Coleman for the male lead in Playboy instead of Eddie Cibrian.
I agree. He was fantastic in Profit. Another show that was maybe ahead of its time.
Natalie Mange gotta eat. A lot.
Still never gonna give up hope that someday Pasdar will return as Jim Profit. He could still do it. This guy does not age. It would be amazing if he guest-starred on Dexter as Jim Profit.
I was surprised at how good his character worked on Castle.
Just what recession-weary Americans want to see…a show about a mentally unstable woman and being laid off, outsourced and downsized.
