EXCLUSIVE, 9:58 AM: Saoirse Ronan could be cast opposite Armie Hammer in Relativity’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White that’s an revisionist adult retelling of the fairy tale from director Tarsem Singh. Armie Hammer, fresh off The Social Network, has closed a deal to play Prince Andrew Alcott 
in the pic. But Ronan (Atonement, and the upcoming Hanna) is still only “in discussions” for the title role. Julia Roberts already has been cast. It’s worth noting that Relativity plans to be in production first for a June 29th, 2012, release before Universal’s Snow White And The Huntsman starring Twilight saga superstar Kristen Stewart gets going and comes out December 21, 2012. Supposedly, Viggo Mortensen is shaky in that version.
(Beverly Hills, CA) March 26, 2011 – Relativity Media has closed a deal with The Social Network breakthrough star Armie Hammer to play Prince Andrew Alcott in its upcoming untitled Snow White feature, based on the Brothers Grimm story, directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell).
Hammer joins Oscar®-winner Julia Roberts who was previously announced in the role of the Queen. Pre-production has begun, and principal photography will start in May. The theatrical release date is set for June 29, 2012.
Relativity’s Snow White, a retelling of one of the most beloved fables of all-time, will eschew the traditional story in favor of a more modern tale full of comedy and adventure. After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, Snow White bands together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarfs to reclaim what is rightly hers..
The film’s producers are Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter), Bernie Goldmann (300) and Brett Ratner (Rush Hour franchise). The script was written by Melissa Wallack (Meet Bill) and Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher)
Relativity currently has box office hit Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Oscar®-winner Robert De Niro, in theatres. The studio recently had Golden Globe®-winner and seven-time Oscar®-nominee The Fighter in theatrical release, via Paramount Pictures, starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo and Amy Adams as well as Golden Globe®-winner and eight-time Oscar®-nominee The Social Network via its partnership with Sony Pictures. Looking ahead, Relativity has David R. Armie Hammer is currently filming Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. He is represented by WME and attorney Harris Hartman who negotiated the deal with Relativity on his behalf.

Ronan is a ridiculous suggestion on so many levels.
She’s one of the most talented young actresses on this planet and has a great taste & makes excellent choices – unlike many other older and more experienced actors. I cannot see how this is a “ridiculous suggestion”. Unless you are implying that she is ugly, but surely, you wouldn’t be that dumb?
It’s a ridiculous suggestion to have her be Snow White if Armie Hammer is her love interest. She is way too young.

Good on you jkl ! Ronan will be 17 when shooting starts, and a very mature one at that. Who said this movie is all about sex between the Prince and Snow White?!? Huh?! Some people need to screw there heads on tight before they blow their tops in utter indignation over absolutely nothing. She’s the best choice out there for a lot of female film roles right now, and all because of talent. Watch for ‘Hanna’ out in April.

Relativity has a very sneaky and dirty way of doing things and I really dislike that.
Relativity’s “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” way of handling their Snow White…Is making me root for Universal studios Snow White.

What is the purpose of taking a known story and changing it to the point where it’s not recognizable? It’s an embarassing laziness for Hollywood to rely so much on titles with pre-awareness. Call it something else. If people will see something called “Sucker Punch” they’ll go regardless of the title.
Excellent casting if it pans out. But won’t she be too tied up with The Hobbit?
If this goes through, Universal’s in some trouble with their version. They have a big hole to fill with Viggo’s exit. And neither Charlize nor Stewart have any kind of box office power.
Prayers of all Hobbit fans are that she isn`t in the Hobbit because the character she is supposed to play is made-up. She is terrific actress but has no business in Hobbit movies because these movies do not need token female specially written for the movies (since there isn`t any in the book). Gladriel`s addition makes sense in that she is Tolkien character and was at the White Council (which will be included in the Hobbit movies). But the character Ronan is supposed to play, a teenage warrior Elf who falls in love with the Elf Lord (heavily rumoured to be Legolas himself) is Jackson&co`s fan fiction and therefore shouldn`t pan out.
Other than that, Ronan would be a terrific Snow White (and those who are bothered by hair color – dye, duh!).
Nice to see him getting good work after TSN. He was great in that. Perfect casting.
