EXCLUSIVE: Barry Levinson will direct O.K.C., an indie drama about the real circumstances behind the devastating bombing in Oklahoma City. The film will be produced and financed by Peter Safran and his Safran Co. Clay Wold is writing the script, based on a true story about his own brother, who was a young legal clerk on the defense team of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.
The clerk’s determination to expose the truth led to a bigger conspiracy and nearly destroyed the young man. Levinson is repped by ICM and Wold is repped by UTA and Kaplan/Perrone. He’ll turn in another draft next week and the film is on a fast track. Safran most recently produced Buried and just wrapped ATM with Brian Geraghty, Josh Peck and Alice Eve. Levinson most recently directed You Don’t Know Jack for HBO.

The truth is that he was a part of the militia movement and far right wing terrorist, often Christian, groups that were glossed over after 9/11. Terrorist became to be consider foreign and Muslim rather than something that could be home grown and Christian.
Not sure what other deep truth they are going to tell other than that one. I suppose today that kind of thing is controversial, but back in the 90s, it was something that was discussed a lot in D.C.

McVeigh was a nut pure and simple. Sounds like a short movie to me.
I lived through the bombing in Oklahoma City. I think this movie will undermine the true facts of the event. Comparing a U.S. President to a mass murdering man is not a valid correlation. McVeigh was strongly anti government and obviously Pres. Obama would be the complete opposite. Think before you speak.

Do your homework pal. There is no evidence that McVeigh was part of a militia. He bombed the federal building as retaliation to what happened in Waco at the Branch Davidian compound (more of a left wing cult that a right wing cult). And McVeigh was not a Christian. In numerous interviews he said he was agnostic.
I’m sure Hollywood will spin this thought as McVeigh being a right-wing Christian terrorist.

The FBI has infiltrated many of these groups and FBI informants have encouraged members of these groups to commit violent acts, in much the same way that in the 60s federal agents, under the Cointelpro program infiltrated radical groups and encouraged them to commit violence. The U.S. government is behind a lot of the so-called terrorism in this country. Many of the arrests of supposed Muslim terrorists recently were simply FBI sting operations, in which undercover agents prodded someone into committing crimes that they wouldn’t likely have committed, had the government agents not prodded them in the first place. Who knows whether or not Timothy McVeigh really acted alone or whether or not he was simply a patsy for over-enthusiastic undercover agents.

This is one of the best scripts i have read EVER. I was given it a while ago and was blown away. Kudos. I am told everything in the script is true and a matter of public record and from the young attorney who worked the case. I cannot wait to see this movie. Get a copy and enjoy the read. No i have nothing to do with it but wish i did.
You must have only read two scripts in your life then, and the other was BALLS OUT.
Everything in this script is definitely not true, and mostly fantasy and wild speculation. I think the ideas can maybe form an entertaining film, but the script was a chore to get through.
Can someone who read the script tell us if a plot point involves the influence of a certain Detroit mosque in the tragedy? I have read things like that over the years on kook sites and was wondering if there was any kernel of truth to it.
Where can I find a copy of script? I was a radio newscaster at the time in OKC and in fact had just had breakfast downtown with people who became part of the tragedy. We felt the blast at our station but didn’t know what it was at first. I heard a lot of the things that could go into a conspiracy script. I just never got around to writing it down and making a narrative script out of the pieces.
I live in Oklahoma City and I can’t recall ever seeing it shortened to O.K.C., we always just use OKC. Same that you don’t call NYC N.Y.C.

Having read the screenplay, I can tell you that the story is utterly fictional, and wraps McVeigh up with a far-reaching conspiracy involving radical-Islamic terrorists and the U.S. government. I’m gobsmacked that anybody is seriously pursuing such an insensitive and downright unethical exploitation of such a tragic event.

in 1995, I was an LEO and was present at the bombing site within a short time after the bombing. I can tell you from first hand information that we all believed then, and I still believe now that there was middle Eastern involvement. The very first sighting of suspects was of two middle eastern men fleeing the scene in a small pickup truck. The first BOLOs that went out were for middle eastern men in a pickup truck. I heard them myself. I personally interviewed witnesses who saw McVeigh the night before the bombing in a bar just a few miles from the bombing sight who reported that he was with two middle eastern men. One of the witnesses, the barmaid, identified one of the man as John Doe #2. Interesting enough, there was a middle eastern man who lived and worked in OKC that was involved in real estate who looked just like John Doe #2. He came here from Iraq. He was id’ed by a local TV station as John Doe #2. He sued in federal court. He lost. The federal judge ruled that he did not have a claim. He then moved to Boston, and was working at Logan International Airport on September 11th. Guess which year. I will go to my grave believing there was middle eastern involvement. But the Clinton administration covered it up. Remember, the legacy that Clinton longed to claim was bringing peace in the middle east. Muslim involvement in the OKC bombing would ruin that legacy.
