After fielding multiple pilot offers, Bruce Greenwood has signed on to co-star in the ABC drama pilot The River directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The horror thriller, from DreamWorks TV, ABC Studios and Paranormal Activity mastermind Oren Peli, centers on Lincoln Cole (Joe Anderson) who, after his famous TV explorer father (Greenwood) goes missing way up the Amazon, reluctantly abandons his medical studies and follows in his father’s footsteps – accompanied by a small camera crew, and with something deadly in the water, waiting for him.
Swingtown alumna Miriam Shor has joined the cast of ABC’s dramedy pilot Good Christian Bitches. The sexy soap centers on Amanda (Leslie Bibb), onetime “mean girl” in high school who returns home humbled following a scandalous divorce, hoping to get a second chance at winning over her old classmates. Shor, repped by Gersh and Impression, will play one of the girls hurt by Amanda in high school who is now determined to ruin her life.
Darby Stanchfield (Mad Men), Jeff Perry and Liza Weil (Gilmore Girls) have been added to Shonda Rhimes’ ABC drama pilot Damage Control, an ensemble based on the career of legendary crisis management consultant Judy Smith which stars Kerry Washington as Olivia, a professional fixer with a dysfunctional staff. Stanchfield will play a tireless investigator working for Olivia. Perry, who has been recurring on Rhimes’ series Grey’s Anatomy, will play an aide to the U.S. President Tony Goldwyn. Weil will play the recurring role of Amanda who may be romantically involved with the president. All 3 are with Principal Entertainment. Perry is also with Innovative.

How great is Damage Control?
Bruce Greenwood is The Man. A fantastic actor. I’d love to see him with Egoyan again, but him hopping aboard this pilot is great news for the show.
Totally agree, he’s fantastic actor. I’d love to see him with Egoyan again and with Alberta Watson -her lover in Egoyan’s ‘The Sweet Hereafter’. What a great chemistry they had.
The River sounds only good with the days.
Sorry, readers, meant:
“..he’s a fantastic actor. I’d love to see him with Egoyan again, too, and with Alberta Watson -his lover (…)”
I enjoy Greenwood’s work. Another character actor with great talent that will no doubt outlast some of the current 20 somehthing pretty boys (though he is gorgeous himself). Actors like him should be used much more frequently.
Bruce is a classy act and one of greatest guys in the business… He is a pro’s pro. I hope for nothing but the best for him.
I’m really looking forward to The River! Hope it gets picked up!
Good Christian Bitches could become the next Desperate Housewives if is written and executed well, but they should not! market it as the next DH because that always turns into a disaaster.
Damage Control is from Shonda Rhimes and sounds interesting so of course I’ll check it out!
This is bittersweet!!! I love liza Weil and I am soo happy she is in a new show but she is only recurring!!! Why not starring!!!!She is an amzing actress!!
Miriam Shor stole Swingtown – she was just great as the insecure, repressed housewife who grew into her own person over the course of the 13 episodes.
nice to see Liza Weil finally get a pilot
More all white casting news. Are the TV Networks casting ANY leads with people of color?
We get it pistol pete. Stop with the look at me look at me posts. Your posts remind me of someone else to use to come on here everyday and said the same thing. There were many great minority actors and actresses who were giving pilot castings this season. Stop trying to get attention by bringing it up on post where there are none. It is really annoying.
Pistol Pete, Kerry Washington and Angela Bassett are the leads in two major shows this year.
Love me some Liza.
What companies in their right mind would sponsor a show called Good Christian Bitches? I smell a boycott.
I agree. They need to change the name.
LOVE Liza Weil – she is amazing in everything she does and will be a series regular in no time!!
I know I’ve seen Greenwood around for years, but for some reason his work in Star Trek and voicing Batman in Young Justice makes me want people to cast him in everything now lol.
Ditto.
I’ll repeat a comment that was deleted, this time without link -which I assume it’s not appreciated here:
Greenwood always will be for me Billy Ansell, Risa (Alberta Watson)’s lover in Egoyan’s ‘The Sweet Hereafter’. Their sorrow as mourning parents was the most touching element for me, in that movie.
I’ll so be watching ‘The River’.
Liza Weil deserves more than just a recurring! She’s great.
