EXCLUSIVE: TV’s top chef, reality star and producer Gordon Ramsay, has signed with CAA. For the past five years he was at WME and its predecessor Endeavor. Under his current deal with Fox, which runs through 2014, Ramsay is the star and executive producer of three series on the network, all reliable ratings performers: Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and MasterChef. Veteran Hell’s Kitchen has been renewed for Seasons 9, which will air over the summer, and 10, which will run next season. MasterChef has been picked up for a second cycle to air in the summer, and Season 3 of Kitchen Nightmares currently airs on Fridays.
Additionally, Ramsay has three British series, Hell’s Kitchen, The F Word and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. His new shows, including his latest Fox entry MasterChef, are being produced through One Potato Two Potato, Ramsay’s joint production venture with Optomen Television. Ramsay also is a best-selling author of cookbooks and owner of the longest-running London restaurant to maintain three Michelin stars.

Lunacy I say! Pure lunacy. The agent to the star chefs, Jonathan “White Shoes” Rosen, is at WME. How could Gordon do such a thing? Is he a fool? Is he just a charlatan? Teddy bear in a chef’s coat? Oh boy. How could he leave WME. Broken chef? Disheartened? I’d say so. He had the best. Now try the rest.
your comment is a little mad.
Love your comment. Finally, some personality.
Gordon wasn’t represented by Jon Rosen. He was represented by Sean Perry.
Great, but this does nothing for the core business of representing writers, directors and actors. If I’m one of them at CAA, and I’m not working, I have to be seriously questioning if i’m at the right place.
Bigger is not always better. Sign with people you like, who believe in you and give you attention. Then STAY with them when you become successful instead of letting some jackass convince you they don’t know what they’re doing. They KNOW the hardest work has been DONE at that point, and well. Otherwise they wouldn’t be talking to you. Big agency signing is the biggest scam in the world.
Jeez, the guy’s got the whole world in his hands thanks to WME. What more could he want? What did CAA promise?
More importantly, what does CAA get out of it? All his packages (aka the $$$) stay at WME.
Exactly. I think 3 broadcast shows basically maxes him out. They’ll make some cash on personal appearances, but I don’t see any additional packages for CAA from Gordon.
That guy’s time is up.
Seems like they were doing a pretty good job for him. I always thought Itkin’s crew was the best in the business, especially with the endeavor guys now too.
I’m hearing WME “basically” fired him…sucked all the $$$ out of him that was possible…and nothing left to do for the guy. Plus, he was a pain in the ass apparently.
Gordon’s pots and pans are smarter then Sean Perry about time he hit him with one of them Kudos CAA
If you new something about the majors you’d know that they have lifestyles, licensing and reality/alt tv agents that deal exclusively with this type of client.
Re_mangravy
So you mean to say they don’t pay all those agents salaries? Otherwise one could make the argument that with the same money they pay the “reality/alternative/lifestyle” agents they could hire more agents to cover non-star actors, writers and directors. But that’s not the case?
Dude, not everyone can be Brad Pitt. If you’re a non-star why would they hire several more agents to service you? If you have a problem with any agency then leave and go to another one if you’re that miserable.
The Whole POINT is that not everyone can be Brad Pitt. And sorry, but there are boutique agencies out there with three to four agents to the whole company that share non-star clients and those clients DO have the service of all those agents. Having a “team” does not necessarily equal star treatment. And your logic of “then leave if you want” is the TYPICAL attitude of someone who doesn’t give a care and provides shitty service.
so… with all the success, why did he leave? we know what shows he has, but what’s the fun when we don’t get the dirt??
Nuff said.
Having worked with him I can tell you that Gordon is a pain in the ars, he is in serious financial and legal trouble, and a huge part of his success is thanks to the guys at WME. Gordon is only making his bad situation worse. And the sad thing is he doesn’t even have the intelligence to keep the good forces in his life. Can you say, “Jumped the shark!!”
Totally jumped the shark!!!! But the real question is how long he will hold onto his credibility as a chef/restauranteur when all of his restaurants are failing!
