The man at the center of Charlie Sheen’s $100 million lawsuit filed today, Two and a Half Men co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre, has responded to the suit through a statement from his lawyer, Howard Weitzman. “The allegations in the complaint against Mr. Lorre are as recklessly false and unwarranted as Mr. Sheen’s rantings in the media,” Weitzman said. “The accusations are simply imaginary. This lawsuit is about a fantasy ‘lottery’ pay-day for Charlie Sheen.” Meanwhile, “Chuck Lorre’s concern has been and continues to be about Mr. Sheen’s health,” Weitzman added. Lorre was named in the lawsuit along with Men producer Warner Bros. Television, which is yet to comment on the complaint.

Is this Mama Lorre writing? I think Chuck spends all day on here defending his thin skin. The fact is Lorre is guilty of many of the same sins as Charlie Sheen.
Many of my colleagues in the business have noticed that Peter Roth’s name doesn’t appear anywhere in the reporting of this story. Yet he’s the one who brought Lorre with him to WBTV from his wild days at Fox. Could it be he’s the source for all the correct info being leaked to this site under the provision his name not be used?

Here’s what I’d like to go down, which hasn’t gone down yet…
First-hand reports of Mr. Lorre’s conduct as a showrunner/executive producer/”God”, and the way he has treated his employees over the past many years while he’s been in “power”. Since so much ugly is coming out, let’s have that come out too. It’ll be good to see, and shine some light on the disgusting power these executive producers in Hollywood have. I believe Mr. Lorre is just as insane as ol’ Chuckie Sheen, but the star’s antics have overshadowed Lorre’s hidden mayhem.
I can well believe there are horror stories about working with Chuck Lorre because, well, the idea that a successful Hollywood producer might not be a nice guy is not hard to believe.
On the other hand, when there are horror stories about working for someone on a Prestige show he’s usually excused because he’s brilliant or a genius or whatever. So I can’t help but feel that hatred of Chuck Lorre is based less on him being an asshole than being an asshole who made fools of the people who kept proclaiming the traditional sitcom to be old-fashioned or outdated.
Which I guess is fine. We’re all less able to excuse the assholishness of people whose work we don’t like. But if Chuck Lorre were the asshole producer of three unsuccessful single-camera comedies I doubt there’d be as much rage.

Y’know, I keep seeing all these vague comments about how awful Chuck Lorre supposedly is, but with no specific examples mentioned. And the manic ravings of a delusional, obviously bipolar drug addict count for squat in my book.
In fairness, Charlie is a nut, but talk to anyone who has written on Chuck’s shows. He’s a nightmare, up there with the craziest showrunners.
I’ve worked for him. It was stressful, but TV writing is often a stressful business, and I’d hardly call being paid lots of money to write jokes and go home at 7 a “nightmare.” CL has an ego, but he’s an efficient and extremely professional showrunner. And, no, he’s not crazy. He’s just kind of a grouch.

Got to love Hollywood. Weitzman says “unwarranted as Mr. Sheen’s rantings in the media” in a release Weitzman sent to the media.
Seems pretty simple. Sheen said. Chuck said. Sheen Said. Chuck said. That will continue and at some point later this year Nikki will break a story about Chuck and WBTV agreeing to pay Sheen an undisclosed amount. Which Nikki will mark with a Toldja.

The most interesting aspect of this whole debacle, in my eyes anyway, is that everything is so BIG, and taking place at such a high level.
This isn’t just any old producer, or actor, or TV show.
Whether you respect the people involved, or the show, or not…
Lorre is one of the most successful producers in TV– 3 hit shows on the air simultaneously.
Sheen is the highest-paid comedy actor on TV.
The show itself is a massive hit and nets an absolute Fortune for the network, studio, stars, producers, everyone.
And Sheen didn’t just melt down like so many celebs have in past years… he did it HUGE. Saturated the media completely. Gave us a birds-eye view from the perspective of someone completely, utterly losing their mind, in real time, right before our eyes.
This lawsuit is going to be huge, and equally bizarre and ugly, if not more so, than everything we’ve witnessed so far.
Because at this point… Sheen has nothing to lose. He’s laid his soul and career bare. He can’t sink any lower.
People might scoff at Charlie’s lawsuit… but whether or not he’s a friggin nut-job, he’s still got power, and leverage.
My prediction: Charlie is going to get a MASSIVE settlement. Because Charlie is not going to blink.
If Lorre and the studio want this to go away, they simply have to settle. No choice.
For the record, I’m not on Sheen’s “side”… if there even is one. Just saying, he’s gonna win, just as he’s said all along.
I think this is part of what’s driving the volume in the media — Sheen discovered what only a rock-bottom, bazillionth time strung out addict discovers: AA just doesn’t work. NA just doesn’t work. It’s only when you smack your head into the bottom of the swimming pool of life that you realize the problem is one you have to solve on your own.
Except that completely violates the “XYZ Actor Checks Into Rehab Again” script. Hollywood likes performers who are strung out because for whatever reason, they are more interesting than ones who aren’t. The media likes to categorize people into nice tidy boxes, and “Finally realized it’s all a fraud” doesn’t seem to be one of the boxes.
At some point in the near future, someone is going to sit down and write a sitcom for “Angry ex-drunk and druggie”, Sheen’s going to be cast for the lead, and Lorre is going to be smacking himself in the head for firing Sheen in the first place.
Weitzman should have told the truth: Chuck Lorre got pissed off because Charlie made fun of him on the radio. Chaim Levine threw a hissy fit and told the studio they have to fire Charlie “because he hurt my pwecious widdle feelings boo-hoo-hoo.” Lorre is a billionaire crybaby he’s a wimp and apparently a power mad egomaniac. His one good show is Big Bang Theory everything else he’s ever worked on is cliche’d crapola. I hope Singer rejects the settlement offer just so he can tear Lorre to shreds on the witness stand. A jury will side with Charlie and award him a lot of money. Lorre will come across exactly as who he is a big jerk.

I’m sure you would unfortunately your colleagues at Warner Bros. decided to fire their golden goose. They’re idiots and so are you. They could have rid themselves of Charlie Sheen last year they should have told him thanks for your 7 years of work now goodbye to you and good luck we’re bringing in another actor who won’t drive us crazy. They didn’t do that though instead they gave Charlie even more money and enabled him even more to commit crimes against women and children. They are to blame for this problem because they threw more money at Goodtime Charlie. They were happy to put up with his insanity it wasn’t until he insulted Chaim Levine that they realized they made a big mistake or were they pressured by Chaim to fire Charlie? Clearly that’s what Singer is claiming in his suit. It’s very obvious they were willing to continue with Charlie until Lorre told them to get rid of the bum. That makes this lawsuit very credible and it makes Lorre financially liable for what happened. Singer and Sheen will walk away with close to 50 million bucks without ever having to go to court.

I find the posts that refer to Chuck Lorre as “Chaim Levine” pretty rich considering they could be coming from a guy who changed his name from “Carlos Estevez.”
So far as I can tell, Sheen doesn’t make a secret of his name being Carlos Estevez. Sheen took his father’s stage name. Emilio, his brother, didn’t, as didn’t his other sibblings (meaning, Charlie is the only “Sheen”).
Lorre, on the other hand, admitted that he found his birth name to be very insulting and bothersome (or words to that effect). When someone who thinks their old name is an insult refers to someone else by their birth name, it can’t be taken any other way — it’s meant as an insult. Lorre could have apologized and things would have been patched up a long time ago.
The problem is that in a conflict between an addict and an egotist, there are only so many ways for things to improve. The addict gets clean, or the egotist gets a clue. If the addict gets clean, they are likely to realize the egotist is an @ss and move on. And that, in my opinion, is what’s happened.
Sheen will, of course, win the lawsuit for some value of “#Winning” and Lorre will lose the goose that laid the golden egg to a producer who doesn’t have quite the same ego.
He cares about Sheen’s health? Then, why did he use his vanity card to trash Sheen? Lorre has historically had problems with his stars and I think any rational person can deduce that he’s no picnic with which to deal. I’m not defending Sheen’s actions either, but this is a two-way street.
I’ve read all of the comments. Some are true. Some sound true. Bottom line? I don’t feel sorry for Charlie or Chuck. They’ll both go on with their careers. Charlie will be put on good psych meds and write a tell-all book about the year he melted down. Chuck will have another hit show. I do feel sorry for the cast and crew that these idiots put on the unemployment line because Charlie wants to be a warlock.
