Vanessa Ferlito has landed the second title role opposite Alex Breckenridge in CW’s pilot Cooper & Stone. The pilot, from writer/exec producer Laurie Arent and CBS TV Studios, is about Jenna Cooper (Breckenridge) and Stone (Ferlito), two smart female detectives on Chicago’s North Side who are best friends, equally adept at discussing fashion, music and pop culture as they are solving homicides. Ferlito, repped by Innovative and attorney Carlos Goodman, did stints on 24 and CSI: NY and was recently seen in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

terrible casting on par with a terrible script
Aaaaaaand CANCELLED!
I don’t dislike Ferlito at all, but no way can she even co-carry a series.
you can’t be cancelled if your show is never picked up
Awesome – she’s cool – loved her in Deathproof.
You guys are crazy. it’ll get canceled because it’s on the CW not her. Vanessa’s cool. she’s always good.
Love Vanessa Ferlito in DEATH PROOF. She’s not.
Too bad I don’t watch the CW.
Damn it, meant: She’s HOT! Sizzles. Oh yeah!
God this show sounds so embarrassingly awful.
It’s worse than you think. Hands down the worst script I’ve read with the possible exception of Hart and Dixie and A Mann’s World. I know CW wants procedurals but this is terribly written and so stupid it makes One Tree Hill seem sharp and distinctive.
I concur on the awfulness of the script.
What’s with all the losers on here who have never done a damn thing, yet constantly bash on everyone and everything? Never read the script, it could be bad, but V. F. is one of the most unique actresses out there.
Only bad thing about ‘Deadline’ is it gives idiot nobodies who will never do anything in film or television a platform to express their idiotic opinions.
I haven’t read the script so I can’t comment on the quality of the writing, but the premise, “best friends, equally adept at discussing fashion, music and pop culture as they are solving homicides”, is INSULTING to female detectives. It trivializes the work they do. It’s just such a bad idea.
And male detectives talking sports ‘trivializes’ them? Watch the BRIT show Murder in Suburbia – which this seems a complete rip of — its a standard procedural filtered through Sex and City sensibility — and while the production values were poor – it was a guilty pleasure.
Let’s see…cast two leads that virtually NO ONE knows. Check.
Add a ridiculous premise. Check.
Riley Smith, man, I love ya, but you need to ditch this pilot immediately…because it’s a bomb before the first scene is shot.
HOW?…HOW can The CW continually screw up casting like this? It’s dumbfounding. WHO is in charge over there? This is a complete embarrassment. You actually believe ANYone would have ANY reason to sample this show, let alone watch it become a “hit?” If anyone at CW truly believes that, please send in the straight-jackets.
All I have to say is that if this show makes it on the air over highly acclaimed AWAKENING, Heart of Dixie, or The Secret Circle, then all CW execs should definitely be FIRED!
