In her first regular comedy gig, Eliza Dushku is set as the female lead opposite Damon Wayans in CBS’ untitled sports radio show pilot. The multicamera comedy, from veteran writer-producers Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, is inspired by ESPN personality Colin Cowherd’s outspoken sports talk show. It centers on Nick (Wayans), an egotistical sports-radio host with a quick wit and cocky likability who is adored by his fans. Dushku will play Nick’s radio cohort Casey, a fun, quick-witted gal who is socially oblivious and pathologically blunt. Dushku, repped by UTA and The Collective, is best known for her roles on dramas Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tru Calling and Dollhouse. She recently guest starred on another CBS multicamera comedy, The Big Bang Theory.
David Alpay (The Tudors) is set to co-star opposite Lauren Ambrose in Fox’s drama pilot Weekends at Bellevue. Based on Julie Holland’s memoir, Bellevue centers on Ellie (Ambrose), the psychiatrist in charge of the weekend shift at Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric unit. Alpay, repped by APA and KLWG, will play Ben, a second-year attending psychiatrist at Bellevue who graduated from an Ivy League school and comes from a family of doctors. He has a history with Ellie and is strongly drawn to her.
Tricia O’Kelley (The New Adventures of Old Christine) has joined another CBS comedy pilot, the untitled Filgos project, which centers on a blue-collar guy who wrestles with how to parent his unmarried grown daughter Eileen (Becki Newton) and her 12-year-old son while sharing a house with them as well as his wife and recently widowed mother. O’Kelley, repped by Domain and Art/Work, will play Eileen’s older sister, who’s happily married with two unproblematic kids.
Smith Cho (Ugly Betty) has landed a lead in NBC’s comedy pilot Lovelives. The multi-camera comedy revolves around married couple Tim (Ryan Hansen) and Holly (Amanda Loncar) who, along with Tim’s siblings Blake (Sean Maguire) and Maddie, and Blake’s sarcastic ex-wife Kate (Cho), navigate the twists and turns of love in New York City.
Audrey Esparza has been added to NBC’s untitled Dan Goor pilot. The multicamera comedy, from writer/exec producer Dan Goor, centers on Adam Foote (Andrew J. West), a young doctor who joins his parents’ medical practice and spends as much time tending to his family as to his patients. Esparza, repped by Innovative and ATA Management, will play a kind-hearted RN at the family clinic. She tries to be especially helpful to the recently returned Adam, who seems like he might be romantically interested in her.TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Fingers crossed that CBS gets behind & runs with this!!
I love her and I will watch for sure if it goes to series!!!!!! but she wasnt that good on the big bang theory!! I wonder if she will be good in this!!
Can we expect two four comedy blocks from cbs one on mon and thurs now?
What about Julian MacMahon for Two and A Half Men?
She is hot and he is funny so I’m in. Please don’t suck!
Yes I love her! Its great that she’s on a new show, though when I heard about this earlier it didn’t sound that good to me. But if it has her in it, I may check her out.
Perhaps if they make Wayans nothing like Cowherd really is the show might not suck. If it’s anything like his radio show, it’s just going to be him talking about the same topic for 3 hours without actually ever really discussing anything. I remember when sports radio hosts were actually required to know something about the topics they talked about, but I guess that’s out the window now. Cowherd is to sports coverage what tmz is to entertainment coverage…..FLUFF!
Sorry, but a show based on Colin Cowherd has no chance at success. His “I’m smarter than all of you” routine may work and may actually be accurate viz. the people who call into his radio show, but relative to the public at large, will get old and stale in a big hurry. No reflection on Wayans and Dushku. It wouldn’t help if Olivier plays the lead, with Mae West as his cohort.
Eliza Dushku is by far a great actress and still looking great!
Gee, you say “still” like she’s ancient.
She’s really NOT a great actress. Not even a good actress. Sure, she’s pretty and all, but acting is something she is not good at.
Eliza’s brilliant, her problem is in her decision-making.
For example, Dollhouse, anyone who thought that show with its plot, concept, and writers had a chance wasn’t thinking too clearly.
A show where people get brainwashed and raped on a weekly basis?
Yeah, people are gonna queue up to watch that mess.
I can’t stand Eliza Dushku.
This will be canceled like all of her other terrible shows.
She was the worst part of Dollhouse.
So you didn’t see any scenes with Penkitt, Tudyk, or Laurie did you then?
You didn’t see the writing that turned Langton without thought to his characterisation? Or the writing that allowed numerous inconsistences?
The show was poor, but Dushku’s only flaw was agreeing to be in it in the first place!
Dushku was executive producer.
Eliza begged Joss to be part of Dollhouse… it was her concept. She had a contract with Fox for 3 series and they were all canceled for being crappy.
She wasted 3 years of Joss Whedons life that he could have been using to make something good instead.
The only person to blame for Dollhouse sucking is Eliza Dushku… she was producer and star of the show.
Dollhouse was Eliza Dushku’s vanity project… she was the worst part of the show and the only character in the credits because she in a conceited attentionwhore. If anyone else had played Echo the show would have been magnitudes better. If Eliza had cared about the show and the other actors on it she would have been on screen much less… because she was the worst part of the show.
Eliza and D. Wayans…miscast.
CBS, who told you that a show about a sports jock would sell?
ESPN sells big to its target demo of 14-50 males of questionable intelligence. After all, sports is all about low-rent buffoons playing children’s games.
Sports jocks mirror their subject matter: Behaviorally/mentally challenged egotistical fools.
Wayans was last funny on “In Living Color”. In this CBS pilot, he’ll play a behaviorally challenged sports jock. Not funny.
Poor Eliza. She’s one tough cookie, been around, and can play sexy, funny, or drama.
But she’s paired up with Wayans who’ll basically be playing himself-a smug, unfunny guy, with a permanent chip on his shoulder.
Eliza’a going to play white sassy to his black sassy.
Not funny or watchable in the least.
Don’t want to watch sports jocks or shows about ignorant jocks.
Nor would I watch forced, painfully scripted repartee between a Wayans and Eliza.
Eliza was the true star of “Dollhouse”.
After smarter heads prevail and this useless sports jock pilot fails to get picked up, I hope Eliza finds something worth her talents.

Yeah, I agree. I hope for the best, but fear the worst.
I feel Eliza’s time is running out (not that she’s old by any standards but Hollywood’s), and I hope she stumbles into something far, far better soon.
‘Bird Dog’ sounded a lot more interesting than this.
“CBS, who told you that a show about a sports jock would sell?”
umm… Everybody Loves Raymond?
Bananas! I’m so excited for this! I truly idolize Eliza & have for many years! She deserves her own show! She’s beautiful & brilliant! Congrats Eliza!!
C’mon Eliza. You can do better than that crap show at CBS. It’s going to be crap. Everyone knows it.
Instant kiss of death.
Start brushing up those resumes cast and crew….
I think it going to be a show. Good luck you eliza dushu you are a great actress
She’s hilarious.
just to clarify…I’m not the other david who bagged on Eliza Dushku but COME ON…I’m blown away that there are people in this world who would describe her talent as “great”. If that was the case then where was she between the time BUFFY ended and DOLLHOUSE? she’s capable…But great? Hardly.
Her problem isn’t her talent, it’s her decision making.
She’s always good to great, but she’s often in some pretty poor stuff.
The New Guy
Open Graves.
Soul Surviours.
Why she ever took any of them is beyond me.
Eliza is a good actress, but far more importantly a great person. Through social media she has channeled her popularity to support great causes and remained down to earth, accessible, and utterly likable. Far more “successful” Hollywood types would do well to follow her lead . . .
Elisa is hardly the cause for cancellation of any season she has been on. She brings top ratings … she is top level attraction to shows and kicks a s s. Next time u blurt out a nonsense reaction … do your research…. good luck … hopefully… writers and marketing get this out right…
So they’ll either replace Eliza or this will never get picked up. The only thing Dushku does well is “tough, but slightly wounded.” All else is beyond her reach, especially comedy.
Aside from the super uneven writing, she was the worst thing about Dollhouse. You had Enver Gjokaj turning in Emmy-worthy work on a weekly basis, the rest of the cast is teeming with talent and charisma, then there was simpering Eliza.
Pro tip: If you’re going to create a show about people who become other people, cast an actress who can actually do that.
Re Dollhouse
She was cast in it no matter what the show was about since it was her deal with Fox.
Joss was the one brought in to create a show.
Hey wet blanket- know the sports world you idiot. It’s based on the show it’s not a replica. Ever watch sportsnation?? Maybe be in the entertainment business and not some hater who knows nothing that sits on the couch in the valley!
Happy to respond to your post as soon as you can string together enough words in the English language to constitute a comprehensible point. But since that is likely an impossible task, let me mention a few things. I work in an industry where I actually am involved both in sports and in entertainment, so I know both worlds pretty well. I know that this show will not just be a re-enactment of Cowherd’s radio show, but certainly the words “inspired by ESPN personality Colin Cowherd’s outspoken sports talk show” mean that Cowherd’s style will have some bearing on the content. Otherwise what is the point of mentioning him? As far as Sportsnation (a great show IMHO), given that it lasted what, one or two seasons, do you believe that CBS is going to follow that program’s formula, or instead go with something that they believe might have a longer life? Sadly, what they believ has a longer life is likely to be something utterly unwatchable. I will now sit on my sofa in the valley (yes, you got that one right) and see what kind of response you can manage to generate. Good luck.
Time to fire APA.
Oh, Eliza…Maybe all the black dudes will watch a show like this.
