In her first series gig, Ellen Barkin is set to co-star opposite Don Johnson in Michael Patrick King’s drama pilot A Mann’s World. The Warner Bros. TV-produced project stars Don Johnson as Allan Mann, a fiftysomething handsome and sexy straight Beverly Hills hairdresser struggling to stay young and relevant in a place where looks are everything. Barkin will play Allan’s forgiving, funny ex-wife and the mother of their three children. She and Allen built his beauty empire together before she removed herself from the day-to-day operation and now serves as his financial and, occasionally, emotional adviser. On TV, Barkin has done several movies, winning an Emmy for one of them, 1997′s When Women Had Wings.

between the script and the cast this is shaping up to be the worst pilot in the history of television. good job everyone!
I read that the script was terrible and that Bob Greenblatt only picked up the pilot to avoid a financial penalty.
Greenblatt never should have passed on the LOGJAMMERS project. I would think it would be right up his alley.
she must really love Don Johnson and the script. she is one actress in her 50s who doesn’t need the money!
Sounds awful. She looks disgusting and Johnson is a pig. Huge pass for me. Hoooooooooooooooooooooogans!
Don Johnson was great in Miami Vice and Nash Bridges.
Thank You for the positive comment! I liked him in those shows also. And I am definitely going to give them a try. Gawd…everybody thinks they are a professional critic! Lighten up, folks!
How soon before she becomes the next ex-Mrs. Johnson??
What a title! Oh, Michael Patrick, you are the King of the pun! I Don wanna burst your bubble, but if you think I’m watching this, you’re Barkin up the wrong tree.
I just got promoted to head writer.
1982 called – it wants its concept and stars back.
You guys are crazy or jealous or both. I’m the audience for this show and I can’t wait.
Nothing against Don Johnson, or older actors in TV shows (I’m all for talent, whatever the age) but isn’t it a wee bit of a stretch to label this character “fiftysomething” when Don is 61?
Don Johnson and Ellen Barkin… wait a second its not 1987 again is it?
For real? Who in the hell will watch this show? The script is God awful, the concept is old and tired and so are Johnson and Barkin.
LOL, man oh man there are some bitter out of work writers on this site. Better come up with a good script and you too can get it made.
Give it a break Don Johnson and Ellen Barkin are great!
Its time to see some familar faces.
How bout Ellen be the sexy, straight man, and Don be the funny ex-wife, and the hair salon be a money laundering operation run by three funny Death Row escapees trying to make enough money to save the life of a terminally ill child whose impending death is funny. Tell me that’s not a better way to go.
I don’t watch this kind of TV but I am glad to see ellen barkin. I just might tune in – but it had better be good…
If the three death row escapees are named Snip, Snap and Snur…you, my friend, have yourself a Network pilot.
This nauseating thing will be cancelled by the third episode if there’s any justice in the world….
Surprised she’s doing this…buzz at sundance was that she’s garanteed an Oscar for ANOTHER HAPPY DAY. Mandalay smart to sit on those offers.
Love Don Johnson and what’s bad about being 61? Looking forward to Fall TV!
I agree wholeheartedly – Don Johnson is great and I can’t wait to see the show (although I did hear that it’s not going to make the Fall lineup — hope that’s not true.
great to see don johnson. like all his work especially nash bridges. this has a good shot i hope
I can hardly wait to see this. I just love all the characters.
It should be quite funny. Good to see some talent again.
Im a retired cop! 27 yrs total! And to be honest I dont want this reality BS!! Ive dealt with “Reality” for a long damn time and a lot of people feel the same way — We are looking for something to enjoy — that entertains – picques the imagination — Not some idiot that thinks he might be able to sing or dance or survive on a tropic island.! Lets get beyond real life and give people their imaginations!!!! A magic precinct?? Why the hell not?? One of the networks did “Special UNIT!) Verrrrry interesting series (only episode I didnt care for was the “being” created from lipo ! lol So come on — We have Merlin! And Special unit, and Sanctuary, and all of Roddenberry’s creations!!! Sooo — take a chance!!!!!!!!! Humanity takes chances alll the time! (every time I turn the channel I take a chance!!!) Sooo lets see a NEW wonder woman and anything else that fantasy/imagination generates!! Jack
