That ’70s Show alum Wilmer Valderrama, The Practice veteran Steve Harris and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit co-star BD Wong have been cast opposite Jason Isaacs in NBC’s drama pilot REM, from Lone Star creator Kyle Killen and 20th Century Fox TV. Also cast in the project, described as an Inception-style thriller, are Laura Allen (Terriers) and teen Dylan Minnette. REM centers on Detective Mark Britten (Isaacs), who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities, one in which he has killed his son Rex (Minnette) and one in which he has killed his wife Hannah. Valderrama will play Detective Richard Vega, Britten’s gregarious new partner in one reality, while Harris will play a seasoned, cynical, wry-humored police detective who’s Britten’s partner in the other reality. Wong will play Britten’s therapist in the reality where he has killed his son. Allen will play Rex’s tennis coach, who has become his confidante in the wake of the recent loss of his mother. Valderrama’s casting stems from his talent deal with 20th TV.

It seems like NBC under Bob Greenblatt has some great pilots.
there are now more pilots than there are tv sets in los angeles
Valderrama is so gross, like a walking STD pustule.
Damn you, Wilmer Valderrama. I was actually looking forward to REM.
This show sounds like it’ll be great.
I wouldn’t worry about Wilmer Valderrama considering he’s doing the same sort of role that Nicholas Turturro did in NYPD Blue.
“REM” is doomed from the start!
Catastrophic casting of Wilmer Valderrama.
How does Wilmer get work in Hollywood?
Typecast in “That 70′s Show” playing himself, a sex-crazed guy lusting after teenage girls, his acting range stretches from glum, angry looks to slightly less glum, angry looks.
As cops would say, Wilmer is some piece of work!
A 31 yr old guy who still lusts after teenage girls.
And a phony to boot. Why, just the other day, at a Disney sponsored “clean up environment” project, Wilmer showed up 5 hours late, posed with a shovel, then spent an hour texting furiously (we can only speculate with whom).
And HOW, given his predilections for underage and/or barely legal teenage girls, does Disney of all companies still hire him?!
Irony of ironies…In “REM”, Wilmer gets to play a detective. Maybe as his first case, he can investigate how he’s managed to stay out of jail given his dating preferences.
LOL. So true.
THIS guy playing a DETECTIVE in “REM”!?
Compared to Wilmer’s picture above, I’ve seen happier, more charming & engaging faces in most police mugshots!
the show sounds cool but how many episodes can it stay interesting a la the event?
The Events trouble was that it didn’t make sense, the characters aren’t interesting and bad writing. Things that I think Bob Greenblatt or Paul Lee won’t allow to happen.
Read the script… boring… This casting decision=no series commitment. No one wants to see WV as a cop… 20th is trying to justify their holding deal with him
The plot sounds interesting.
And Jason Isaacs playing the main character is one more reason to watch it.
These cruel comments disgust me! It is sad how people can say things, about someone, knowing it could be hurtful to them. Regardless, of what you think of WV, is it necessary to drag his name in the mud? this is why I am starting to hate the Internet!
Donna Hardin
Hey Donna, check out Wilmer’s interview on Howard Stern for a little reality check!
He did a good job himself dragging his own name in the mud!
He dated Lindsay Lohan for a year, and they broke up right after she turned 18. You do the math.
He admitted dating Lohan when she was 17 on Stern’s show.
He admitted to dating several other teenage actresses on the Stern show. And he bragged about de-virginizing one of them.
He bragged about the size of his you-know-what on the Stern show.
He laughed about having anal sex with a famous actress on the Stern show.
Now at 31, he’s currently sniffing around another 18 year old actress-and you know exactly who I’m talking about.
So, don’t come on here all prissy & proper about “hating the internet” for all its mud slinging and feeling “disgusted”.
Wilmer slings his own mud.
THAT should disgust YOU!
I read his previous script, The Beaver, and could not believe it was being made into a feature film. How about an actor playing himself, a drunk, with a hand puppet alter ego. Wish I could get a hold of this script, so I could be equally amazed at how it’s getting produced. Must be some great publicity agent and something in the water…
