After airing original scripted programming in the summer for the past few years, Fox is throwing in the towel this year with a lineup featuring fresh reality fare and scripted reruns. There will be no new shows introduced this summer, with the untitled Jamie Foxx/Affion Crockett sketch comedy, previously scheduled to premiere June 9, pulled indefinitely. (The series already suffered a setback when its preview after American Idol was canceled.) Fox’s original summer slate will consist of the return of So You Think You Can Dance, Hell’s Kitchen and Masterchef. Possibly promising news for 2 scripted series on the bubble, both with ties to Shawn Ryan, The Chicago Code and Lie To Me, both of which are scheduled to air reruns during the summer. Fringe, which doesn’t repeat well, is not on the schedule. Here is the detailed Fox summer schedule with premiere dates:

No Fox for me then this summer. Have never watched a reality show, wouldn’t watch Glee if you paid me, and tired of House a couple of years ago. The husband does like Cops though.
Well no surprise here. I can’t think of any Fox summer series that was renewed, other than 2009′s Human Target, which was treated like a bastard stepchild during it’s second season anyway.
That frees up a couple of hours for me. And gives me two more hours to devote to realtime viewing elsewhere.
Helllooooooo USA!
Looks like we’ll have no reason to turn on Fox all summer, then.
I’ll continue watching SYTYCD but now will hopefully use my spare time for a reality summer of my own.
Fox Summer Programming-All Dreck, All The Time!
Surprised America’s Most Wanted will be off this summer. Will make wanted fugitives happy.
No, encore of Fridge’s 3rd Season? A shame.
Given the right promos, it would be easy to lure the viewers to the series given how strong the show has become.
Fox wouldn’t know a good thing if bit ‘em in the ass. Especially comedy, ie, Arrested Dev. & Unhitched
So Chicago Code and Lie to Me get summer slots, but Fringe is no where to be seen. Interesting….portends anything for fall? Also, the Jamie Foxx show is wisely being held until fall for Saturday late-night given they have come up with nothing else for that spot beyond reruns.
To Larry and to Richard and to any other Fringe fan: In this article it is written, “Fringe, which doesn’t repeat well, is not on the schedule.” Whatever that means….
To Sheldon W: I’ll ‘see you’ at USA.
More genius Network executives, with a huge cache of high profile producers selling shows that no one can make let alone understand, coming up with nothing for a timeslot that has now become valuable. Why bother paying people so much money if they can’t do what they’re supposed to do?
What does Human Target get? Why is it that Fox throws out the baby with the bathwater?? I think I’m finished watching Fox, at least until Fall.
“Encores” implies people rising to their feet, cherring wildly, demanding another go-round. These are reruns.
Um, encore has more than one meaning. Dictionary.com: “any repeated or additional performance or appearance, as a rerun of a telecast or a rematch in sports.”
That doesn’t bode well for the Sketch show that the Tannenbaum’s and Foxx were peddling. I mean how bad could it have been for them to cancel the preview. Heck, I never even read a press release for it. Will this thing ever air?
When will Fringe be back? The only thing I’ll watch will be the All Star Game.
Why would Chicago code get such a terrible time slot?8
WOHOO!!! Lie to Me repeats!! That sounds promising for a 4th season!! Still keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood! I see the “encores” as a very positive sign. Finally, something quality to watch on Friday nights, even if I’ve already seen them all!
I went to the taping of Affion’s show last weekend. Fox is making a huge mistake not picking it up for the summer when Affion’s audience is sitting at home. It would have been the most dangerous new show out. Maybe the Tyler Perry and/or Nick Cannon sketches got out….
With Human Target and The Good Guys gone, I’m down to 2 Fox shows that are even slightly interesting (Glee & Traffic Light). I’m thinking of giving Breaking In a try in April but that’ll be it – there’s zero on that summer slate that I would watch even if the channel was already tuned there.
Another slam in the face for “Human Target.”
Face it people — Fox is showing no love for a reason.
Seems to me that it would be a no-brainer for Fox to renew Human Target right now so that it could get up and running for a Late-June/Early-July premiere. It’s a breeze, it’s perfect for that 9pm Monday timeslot and moreover, giving it a full-ish (16-18 or more episodes) order would mean that it would finish up its season at the Holiday break.
Fox has been *wanting* to start up a summer schedule for ages because they’d (wisely) rather not want to mix the schedule up so much when Idol comes back every January. The only way that they’re going to get that idea to work is to actually commit to it.
Where is lone star,I understand there is 6 episodes that need to be burned off
WTF where the he’ll is human target ….it’s the best show ..no offense to other peoples choices but seriously a thirteen episode season and u expect to get better ratings and wid tht also u keep moving it ….I think it’s the most awesome show in years …great storyline ..great acting ….great cast
WOW, I will be watch USA all summer I guess. I love how a show like Royal Pains or Psych, basically a stupid idea, is such a great show. We can’t any other networks have shows like USA does.
Hell, even Fairly Legal is better than re runs of Glee.
Summer is time for nothing but Big Brother and crap.
LIE TO ME is terrific! CHICAGO CODE is a grabber and HOUSE is the anchor! If Fox sticks with these shows in the fall, they’ll rule the night. I think they know they screwed up when they ran LIE TO ME as a first run last summer…
