Big Love co-star Ginnifer Goodwin has been tapped for a lead role in ABC’s drama pilot Once Upon a Time. The project, from Lost executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real. Goodwin will play Snow White/Sister Mary Margaret, a beautiful woman with dark hair and very pale skin who has been placed under a wicked spell by the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), and is brought back from a living death by Prince Charming. WME-repped Goodwin has been busy in features lately with He’s Just Not That Into You, A Single Man and the upcoming Something Borrowed.

I have been a huge fan of Ginnifer Goodwin’s for a long time. She is radiant, she elevates anything she’s in with her signature charm and unmistakable chops, and combined with the writing talents of Kitsis and Horowitz, I am sure this will be a delight.
Good for her. Lucky that the boring, bullshit phone-it-in suckfest that Big Love has become hasn’t taken her down.

She is the only thing worth watching on Big Love, which became just dreadful two years ago. Why would she go right into a network show? Someone on her team is selling her short. She could be a movie star.

This means if Warners ever gets something based on the great comic “Fables” going, it’ll be accused of copying this…
ABC was developing a show based on the great DC/Vertigo comic book series Fables, as briguyx points out. It’s too bad they are doing this instead. Then again, Fables really needs a movie budget to pull it off, except that there is way too much going on in Fables story-wise to squeeze into a 2-hour film (or even a trilogy). They probably would’ve messed up Fables anyway and given it a Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice type tone.
I don’t see how you could do the other worlds without a big budget.
Fables would have made for a great HBO or Showtime series. It may have fairy tale characters, but it is hardly a kids book.
