Heather Lockelar has closed a deal to star in the CBS comedy pilot The Assistants, a young ensemble about the assistants who work for a celebrity, Ali (Locklear), and her husband. Written by Tucker Cawley, the project centers on Mike (David Henrie) who, newly arrived in Hollywood from a small town in Pennsylvania, is hoping his job as an assistant to Ali, who hails from the same small town as him, might open doors for him. In the meantime, he’s learning the ropes from his fellow assistants who know how to tip-toe around their neurotic boss and her equally crazy husband. Ali is a famous actress who, despite her success (or perhaps because of it), is insecure and prone to wild mood swings. On the comedy side, Melrose Place alumna Locklear, repped by ICM and Brillstein, is best known for her role on ABC’s Spin City. She most recently did a string of Lifetime movies, including He Loves Me, which premiered last week.

Oh God….sounds awful
It is awful. The pilot script is exceptionally terrible. I’m surprised it’s getting made!
Was kinda hoping they would be able to cast an actual star for this role. Or at least someone more talented.
She gets uglier with age. Alcohol and cigarette smoke have done nothing for her appearance.
love her I’m in
This is such a huge casting ..for 1988
Shes more well known for Melrose Place than Spin City
doesn’t she come in at the end of a show? like the final nail in the coffin?
Wow. This sounds worse than Daddio. Remember how bad that NBC series was? A show about Hollywood assistants will have zero audience and zero interest to the masses.
want to know what’s funny about heather locklear in a sitcom?…NOTHING! omg…when is the lesson going to be learned? Mediocre “name” actors/actresses do NOT a hit make!!!!!!!!
Entourage being the notable exception, Hollywood really doesn’t like to make fun of itself. What’s the over/under on the # of eps filmed?
Hollywood loves to make fun of itself, people just don’t care to watch it. Judging from the script, this show is no Grosse Pointe or Action; not even close, actually.
Good luck to them, thought; I actually like David Henrie.
I’ll put it at 8 filmed, not necessarily broadcast
Heathers great; my fav. She’s so nice she signed an autogr for my nephew who then came in 48 th in the la marathon. Flawless fav.
You think he would have placed higher if he’d finished the race first then got Heather’s autograph?
Not a nicer person in this business to work with
I think this is a great storyline with very talented people on both sides if the camera. I’m looking forward to it
Love her and everything she does. She’s the best. Hope its a great script.
Her shows never fail to disappoint.
Hmmmm different approach, starting a show with Heather
May work, I’m sure there are plenty of writers with alot on inside baseball storys they’d love to tell.
It’s unfortunate that she just keeps getting the same material thrown at her all the time. Always playing cougars or bitches. She was a lot more interesting in her guest spot on Boston Legal a few years back when she played a killer. A show about Hollywood assistants is going to have zero interest from 99.9% of the population. When will Hollywood learn that the behind-the-scenes stuff is simply not interesting in this day and age of tabloid celebs like Aniston?
For all the naysayers griping about behind the scenes — really? Why do you think the Charlie Sheen debacle held the attention of the masses for so long? Had he just been rambling, no, but here he was taking potshots and giving the masses an idea of what goes on behind the scenes.
What about Entourage?
Yes, I know it’s on HBO.
Heather Locklear is a draw. I think this show WILL have legs in this celebrity OBSESSED culture that we are living in. And here’s a real celebrity in the lead.
Awful script. Shrill, boring, unfocused………
I recommend you watch the original on Sundance, “The Comeback” with Lisa Kudrow, instead of this.
I got heathers autograph for him in Malibu and surprised him with it after he placed 48th in the la marathon of 25,000 entrants in the race. He was 25 at the time and training for a year.
Cant wait… Love her!! she makes any show fabulous!!!
Sounds like the 2009 production from Tom Lynch Productions- The Assistants. Instead of a celeb- the group work for a studio head.

Ok
She’s perfect. Hold! Release.
