This is the first trailer for Phil Rosenthal’s feature documentary Exporting Raymond, which chronicles the adventures of the Everybody Loves Raymond creator in Russia where he worked on mounting a local version of his hit sitcom. The documentary, which won the audience award at the Austin Film Festival, is being distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

I saw a screening of this with a talkback from Phil and it was great, and he was, too. He’s one of the nicest guys in Hollywood and he’s really put together a great, funny story here… I hope it hits.
Phil is lucky he actually gets paid for them to do a Russian version of it. The Big Bang Theory is being ripped off in Belarus it’s one of the former Soviet republics and Chuck Lorre doesn’t get a dime they tape Big Bang off a satellite and transcribe the dialog then translate it into Belarusian and perform it without paying Lorre or CBS or Warners any rubles or kopeks or dollars. Let’s send Chuck Lorre over there to demand his share of the profits for Big Bang Theory. Here’s his vanity card about it and some other articles they have no legal recourse:

It’s also apparently unlicensed, and according to Lorre, “it’s next to impossible to sue for copyright infringement in Belarus because the TV production company that is ripping us off is owned and operated by the government of Belarus.”
Don’t know how they did it but the Belarus rip off is funnier than Lorre’s original. I did the porn music and big budget sets. Big Bang Theory is easily the worst piece of shit show on network TV. Oh how I hate when I travel and get stuck w/ the CBS package of programming on the plane which has the inevitable BBT episode.
I want to see this, like, right now.
Now THIS I would like to see. Is Goldwyn planning a limited release – straight to DVD thing? Anyone know?
He is super nice — met him once at the NYTF. And this doc looks hilarious! Can’t wait till it’s out.
Poor Phil. He so desperately wants to be in front of the camera.
Go ahead and tell us about your failure. You seem to be dying to do so. Start a blog somewhere else and stop dumping on the hard working and successful people.
In theaters April 29
This looks funny. I also hope they were able to make a russian version of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’ I wonder what that’d be like. Maybe it’ll be called ‘Everybody does not hate Vladimir.’
if only EPISODES was this funny.

“????????”
I love these type movies and this one looks brilliant.
Saw this last year. It’s a funny, fascinating, educational look at how there is no such thing as “easy money.”
This was a fun film…caught it at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival!
Worked with Phil on “Coach” back in the early/mid 90′s…. he is the nicest most genuine guy you could ever meet. True comic genius. The guy I remember is exactly the guy in this trailer…. Cannot wait to see this film! Congrats to him on all his continued success!
If it’s anything like his book – You’re Lucky You’re Funny (which should be required reading for anyone in the business) – it will be hysterical.
Looks great. Hope this comes to the UK.
Phil Rosenthal is such a great writer but I’m glad to finally see him in front of the camera. There’s something just inherently funny about him. He should be a household name.
saw an early screening of this and IT WAS HYSTERICAL and heartfelt and charming! I loved it.
Oh shut up JK5000 – if you know Phil, which clearly you DON’T. You would know he’s THE NICEST most generous man working in this god forsaken industry. He loves telling stories, making people laugh and he’s smart and talented and a team player. Frankly, he’s so funny, he SHOULD be in front of the camera and I’m glad he is – I’ve seen EXPORTING RAYMOND and it’s deliciously funny, even if you’ve never seen EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND. Obviously you’re just a loser, jealous of someone else’s success who actually DESERVES it. I hereby delete you, JK 5000, for being unfunny, and for being a total ass. Back to EXPORTING RAYMOND – I highly recommend it.
This looks hilarious, can’t wait to see it. Had the pleasure of working with Phil on Raymond having
brought in Lembeck to direct the pilot. Having been at all the table readings, rehearsals and tapings for the first two seasons, I must say Phil is the nicest, most genuine human being, so incredibly funny and talented. It was a pleasure watching him work and I wish him much success with this film. It looks great!
Laughing = Good
This is so funny,my man Phil
Can’t wait to see this! Phil is an extraordinary talent behind and in front of the camera.
