Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan has joined Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, playing Hoover’s rival Robert F. Kennedy in the Warner Bros. film. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the manipulative FBI chief. Besides the distinction of being asked back into a film by Eastwood (Donovan previously played a ruthless cop alongside Angelina Jolie in Changeling), Donovan grew up just outside of Boston in Amesbury, Mass., so playing RFK is a highlight for him. Production on the film has already begun, but Donovan will shoot his scenes next week. He just directed Bruce Campbell in Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, a prequel telepic that airs April 17, and he starts production on the fifth season of the USA Network series March 21. He’s repped by Paradigm.

Every year like clockwork Donovan stops by Fenway Park and promos Burn Notice on the red hot local Red Sox broadcast. You can tell he loves being back home.
“like clockwork”
I see what you did there
It seem like you are multitasking while you are shooting a movie but also working on your series. Now you have that great looking women with an slender figure, and you also have one of the best down to earth hardass or comedy of Bruce Campbell. So Jeff Donovan it’s seem like you have a very full schedule. Also going back home,
That can be good but also be bad depending what mood you are in..
Travel time and schedules also trying to take time out can be heckit.. Don’t forget to breathe. And remeber you made it out of there.. YOu cant go back but you can go foward.. What ever part you play play your best and nothing else. Kick your feet up roll down the window and crank up some tunes and sleep for while….
Okay man take care and remeber bigbird didn’t write this song..
Like any actor you have to study and do research on any person(s) in that role you are playing. Now you the kennedy(s) are a big part of history. If John F. Kennedy was alive today. what if marilynn monroe and John F. Kennedy were still alive. It seems like all good Presidents die young. Thats not fair. But we must remeber History and the true story. Make the truth come alive. Like any actor or actress we must study the part and do many hours of rehearsals. I have many friends that are actors and actresses. But none that live near me. I wanted to be an actor but couldn’t remeber a darn line.. Jeffery Donovan has gone through alot on and off the screen. He could tell you that for sure. But that not my cup of tea.. Burn Notice one of the greatest.. His acting career is one of the greatest.. Somethings in life we have in common….
Now being the best on and off the screen take many hours of hard work.. thre personal lives quatum leaping into there character, and being that person in history and brining that person back to life for that moment. That is what live is all about. The true meaning of being an actor. And playing the part………………………
Thankyou Jeffery Donavan..
Matthew G. Howard
He may “love being back home” but Boston ISN’T it, since Amesbury is closer to Nashua, New Hampshire than Boston MA…it’s at least an hour north of Boston if not more…heh heh heh…
As a Massachusetts native, who also lived in New Hampshire, I can vouch for this. Amesbury is definitely closer to New Hampshire, and the people are different than those in more metropolitan areas. I would have never thought of Jeff as someone who grew up in Boston.
Donovan will be a big feature film star one day.
Unfortunately he’s far older than he seems, at 42 he’d only have a few solid years in the limelight until he lost the sex appeal that that the producers would be looking for. He’s a great actor though so he could take on a different role I suppose.
Did we forget Sean Connery & Clint Eastwood himself? Grand Tourino was awesome! ‘Unfortunately older??’…pppfffhhhh. Russel Crowe’s still crankin’ ‘em out. Let’s limit your career Ryan? Comments like that are way out. I would’ve rather seen Jeffrey as Crockett than Colin Farrell.
with you on that, bk.
I agree with BK. I love Jeffrey Donovan’s acting and when I see his stunts on Burn Notice I don’t think, “Well, gee, he’s 42, that’s pretty impossible.” I just get so wrapped up in the show. I do think he’s got a great career ahead of him. You’re as young as you feel.
Donovan starting to to lose sex appeal? Really? Many men sexually mature with age like Eastwood.
Two ( JD & CE) of my favorite things. Can’t wait for this film to wrap and view it.
Jeff’s a good looking guy, but I have always thought of him as a character actor. That’s where he shines.
Guess you missed him as the leading actor of Burn Notice now starting it’s FIFTH season???
Congrats to JD! He’s sublime on “Burn Notice;” so glad he’s getting recognition in the film world! Busy man!
Awesome. He was chilling in Changeling. Nice to see another part to show he can do more than Michael Weston. Yet another reason to be excited about J. Edgar.
I agree! Donovan is talented.
Last week Eastwood and DiCaprio were filming in Santa Ana at our old courthouse (1920s era). Am eager to see this movie I’m sure it will be really good. I definitely like the addition of Jeffrey to the cast.
i’m big fan of Jeff Donovan here in the Philippines, i love him play the role of Micheal Westen in his series Burn Notice.. It’s nice that he’s into movies now.. can’t wait for this one!! congratulations Jeff Donovan!!
Really wish this guy could act. Hope he works better off DiCaprio than he did with Jolie. Outlook not so good.
you’re on crack
I agree. He is a great actor and he does amazing accents!
Couldn’t agree more. He was the worst part of Changeling by far and for sure the reason I won’t be seeing this Eastwood flick. Donovan is probably the least charismatic “leading” actor working today. Well, tied with that guy from Blue Collar, anyway.
Jeff Donovan and my brother-in-law could be twins. I first saw him on the show The Pretender back in the 90s playing Micheal Weiss’s brother. I’ve been watching Burn Notice ever since it started and love to watch whenever new shows start.
JD is an extremely talented actor and I have no doubt he’ll hit a home run playing RFK. And a big plus: it’s always good to have an actor who can do a Boston accent PROPERLY.
yeah, but he plays every possible character as he plays Michael Weston!!
I can’t picture leonardo as j.edgar, but I like both guys and sounds like a show I’d enjoy. look forward to it. eastwood is usually great, too.
He is such a talented actor. Love Burn Notice! It will be so exciting to see him on the big screen again.
I am so looking forward to “J. Edgar” and with Jeffrey in it. Wow. and Judy Dench, and Leo, and too many to mention, Armie Hammer, and me.
I have to really want to see a movie these days what with gas prices climbing and the cost of a movie anyway. You put gas in your car and get a drink and popcorn not to mention a date and you have spent a hundred bucks. I made a hundred bucks a week working part time in high school. That being said I would go see Mr.Donovan anytime, not to mention Mr. Eastwood has never directed a film I didn’t love. I can’t wait.
Did I read the story correctly? DiCaprio as J. Edgar????
Hey I’ve like JD since Monk.
Good Luck to Jeffrey Donovan! He really rocked the screen in Changeling. He definitely will be a feature film star. Looking forward to the new Burn Notice season!
Just why does everyone seem surprised that donovan is and has been continually providing fantastic contributions to the tv/film world? For me it is like art…don’t always understand it..but I know what I like! And I like seeing donovan in, well, anything…(or nothing). No no do not go to the fon lines…I am very pleased that a filmmaker with eastwoods clout and caliber has, once again, chosen to surround himself with talented actors for this current project! Good luck to all! P.S. clint, can you do anything about the ridiculous theatre ticket prices?? Thank goodness this new film is not going to be in 3D! Am I wrong America??
I’d like to see this guy in a franchise. Donovan should play the Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp in the proposed remake. Why? Because like Depp, Donovan can do action, drama and comedy. It’d be a fun movie.
I’m thrilled to see Mr. Donovan getting a role like this! I loved the character work he dide in the first season of Burn Notice. I miss that but his “bomber disciple” performance gave me chills both times I watched. Looking forward to catching this film!
Donovan is a great actor. I barely watch TV, but a few episodes of Burn Notice and I was hooked. Some of the TV stars don’t belong in film, but this guy has the goods.
j D u aRE THE MAN LETS SEE WAT U GOT IN THIS I GUESSS SUPRISING GOOD
One great thing about Donovan is that he acts naturally and very believable especially as Michael Westen in Burn Notice. He can really shift from action, comic and drama instantaneously.
It sounds like it’s going to be good! Jeffrey Donovan is amazing!
Donovan portrayed a serial/spree killer on the classic cop show Homicide: Life on the Street. He played identical twins.
