Arrested Development alum Jeffrey Tambor is set to co-star in NBC’s single-camera comedy pilot Bent. The project, from writer/exec producer Tad Quill, is a romantic comedy about recently divorced Type-A single mother Alex (Amanda Peet), who tries hard not to fall for sexy surfer-dude contractor Pete (David Walton), who she’s hired to re-do her kitchen. Tambor will play Pete’s dad, a former actor who lives with Pete and needs to be driven everywhere. A performer who’d like to get back in the game, he plays piano in the Nordstrom lobby and still chases after the ladies. Tambor, repped by Gersh and the Burstein Co., is coming out in Win Win, The Hangover 2 and Paul.
Ben Koldyke has landed the second lead opposite Amaury Nolasco in ABC’s comedy pilot Work It. The multicamera project, from Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen, is about out-of-work car salesmen Lee (Koldyke) and Angel (Nolasco), who realize that it is a woman’s world and decide that in order to find work again and succeed they must dress as women to get jobs as pharmaceutical reps. Also cast in the pilot is Kristin Eggers.
Rick Gomez (Justified) and Richard T. Jones (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) have joined Peter Tolan’s comedy pilot for Fox Council of Dads. The pilot, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, tells the story of Michael, who just before he dies enlists five friends from all aspects of his life to become a “council of dads” to his two young children. APA-repped Gomez will play the “fitness dad,” a super-intense guy self-appointed to make sure that Michael’s kids exercise, eat lots of bran, and stay lean and mean. Jones, repped by the Kohner Agency and Industry, will play the “homework dad.”

Amanda Peet’s ‘Bent’ now feels all sorts of bad with Jeffrey cast. Am a huge fan Jeffrey Tambor but i’m afraid he’ll be made to bring up a needy Blooth living upstairs and hidden. Really, how should this work?
Jeffrey Tambor can only ever be a positive. Also, great choices for Council.
Tambor = GOLD!
Is this why Jeffrey Tambor just dropped out of his LA CAGE run on Broadway after only 9 days in the role?
“Am a huge fan Jeffrey Tambor but i’m afraid he’ll be made to bring up a needy Blooth living upstairs and hidden. Really, how should this work?”
I don’t understand what you are saying. Seriously. I’ve read your post like 4 times now. I’m confused.
Sam’s referring to Jeffrey Tambor’s role on Arrested Development as the conniving patriarch of a wealthy family (the Bluths) who breaks out of jail to find himself hiding out in the attic of one of his family’s home.
Hmmm… Didn’t Jeffrey Tambor just leave the Broadway cast of “La Cage” for “health reasons?” Could this have something to do with that, and could the health in question be the health of his bank account?
I really loved this show concept (Council Of Dads) and love, love, love Tambor, BUT give us a rest with Bornheimer and the commercial directing team of the Russo brothers! Please! All 3 have big agents, but they are failing in this genre! We all see that! Why doesn’t the good ole boys club let them go do feature films! TV takes quick wit and these three fall flat! Sorry! Just telling the truth!
You have no idea what you are talking about. Bornheimer elevates every project he’s ever done – commercials, films and television. The guy is hilarious and so are the Russos brothers. Not sure if you saw the “arrested development” or “community” pilots, but they were some of the best comedies of the last decade and they have an Emmy to prove it.
Don’t get me wrong. I like the Russos and they made the mark (with a great cast) in “Arrested” but since then, Carpoolers, What About Brian, Happy Endings and ESPECIALLY Community have really done nothing originally funny to propel the single cam effort. Modern Family HAS! And please! “An Emmy to prove it” – really!?? YOU really have no idea what you’re talking about!
Tell that to the producers of La Cage.
Love Tambor, but he didn’t “leave” La Cage. He was run off Broadway because he can’t sing despite being cast in a musical.
