Law & Order alum Jeremy Sisto is making a switch to comedy with a starring role in ABC’s comedy pilot Suburgatory. The pilot, from creator Emily Kapnek, centers on Tessa (Jane Levy), a teenage girl who is moved by her dad George (Sisto) from Manhattan, where she grew up, to her version of hell: the suburbs. Also cast in the pilot is Carly Chaikin (The Last Song) as Dahlia, a trendy girl and the biggest bitch at Tessa’s new high school. She is with Paradigm and the Hofflund Co. ICM-repped Sisto previously starred on NBC’s Kidnapped and HBO’s Six Feet Under.

That is the death knell for this otherwise promising project.
I’m sorry but Jeremy Sisto can’t do comedy.
Neither can the show’s writer, so he’s in good company.
The writer only has had 4 pilots shot and works on Parks & Rec – regarded as one of the best comedies on tv. So Greg Daniels and them over there must be idiots then. Hopefully she will read your Mama’s Family spec that you are toiling away on in your parent’s basement.
A lot of crappy pilots get shot. This is one of them.
Did they not pick up your pilot about a husband and a wife who get divorved but still work together? Keep at it!
Ooooh, zing zing with that shopworn salvo. Sounds like the previous comment struck quite a nerve. The recitation of the writer’s curriculum vitae is especially sad. Your comeback, not surprisingly, is as anemic as this show.
Changing your name with each post doesnt change the fact that it is “you” writing it. At least keep your name consistent. Each of those posts are the same voice with the same comment. Sounds like the fact that this writer got a pilot picked up struck a nerve with you. As for mentioning credits – it was more indefence of you saying that she wasnt a good writer. I was trying to defend with evidence as opposed to just one’s criticism. Im sorry if I am a writer who worked with her on staff of that show and had experience with her – I defend people I work with who I think are good. So when you shit on her talent – you shit on mine too. And as Kenneth Wurman once said “You shit on my house” – Don’t hit on my house, don’t shit on me, and do shit on my colleagues.
Actually those posts weren’t me. I don’t know who “Drew” or “andy” are, but obviously none of us liked the script, and I’d happily confess to not liking most of the pilot scripts I’ve read this year. Get upset if you want. It’s just my opinion.
Am I bitter writer with a bunch of busted pilot scripts? You bet. And I’ll continue getting bitter with every script about a wacky family or snarky young couple script I read.
Keep working on those zingers, though. You’ll be a lock for a staff job on a network sitcom.
re:
“Don’t hit on my house, don’t shit on me, and do shit on my colleagues.”
Are you sure that wasn’t Charlie Sheen in episode 3 of Sheen’s Korner?
That’s not true, he can do any role.
“Rolling with the homies.”
to the writer’s attack dog — so the script is good because she’s your friend? very juvenile. bottom line, the script isn’t good. saying it’s just some jealous boogie man is embarrassing for you and your emotional personal attacks. in the end the viewers will decide.
Sisto is actually talented in the comedy world. He’s come down to the wire on a couple of occasions on studio films opposite formidable “known comedic” actors. Good for him. I am glad he will show the community he has real range and diversity beyond those amazing comedic chops. Why does everyone want to be a “hater”…?
good for sisto….so different than law and order and obviously six feet under….i hope this works and he becomes another viable comedic leading man. it would be nice for the business. i am a fan….plus he’s sexy too.
scripts lousy, title must go
Sisto’s incredibly talented. He’s made a few bad script choices over the years, but so have many of our Academy award winners in the past. I’ve been surprised before by some pretty serious actors who have found success in comedy. If given the chance, I think Sisto will do great! Better than another wacked out reality show!
jeremy Sisto is a good actor. Whether he can do comedy remains to be seen. Some great comedians can’t pull it off because of the writing or other actors wanting all the great lines. That won’t be the case……. However, I am also interested in the other cast members.
I just saw the pilot episode. I want to line every single one of the characters up and administer a heavy handed slapping.
There is not one ounce of believability, likeability, or entertainment value to this piece of rubbish. There is nothing remotely resembling ‘suburban’ life (unless the writers are seeking to portray some vacuous Beverly Hills suburban existence). I endured the entire monstrosity hoping, wishing, and praying that it would get better. However, it painfully swan dove off the top of the ABC building and belly-flopped to its death.
Frankly, as a suburbanite I am EXTREMELY insulted and implore you to keep this abomination off the air for the good of mankind.
Give the program a chance. Jeremy Sisto is a great actor. I’m sure he can do any kind of acting he wants. I’m gonna watch him and enjoy.
I love Jeremy Sisto! And while his character in Six Feet Under was nuts, anyone failing to see how humorous he could be in it obviously never watched the series.
