Sarah Palin is getting the movie treatment with HBO Films’ Game Change. Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore will portray the former Alaska governor in the project, which will chronicle Palin’s burst into the national scene as a surprise vice presidential candidate in 2008. Directing Game Change is Jay Roach, director of the Meet the Parents movies as well as the HBO film Recount, which examined the aftermath of the 2000 presidential election with a focus on the Florida recount.
Game Change is based on Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book about the 2008 presidential elections and follows John McCain’s campaign from his selection of Palin as his running mate to their ultimate defeat in the general election.
Danny Strong, who previously wrote the Roach-directed Recount, penned the script for Game Change. Roach is executive producing, with Strong co-executive producing.
So far, Palin has been most famously portrayed on TV by Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live. Palin herself works a contributor on Fox News Channel and became a reality TV star with her limited series, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which ran on TLC to sold ratings.

I expect this will be nothing less than a fair and balanced portrayal of Sarah Palin and in no way assassinate her character for entertainment’s or policy sake. I mean that is why the Kennedy film didn’t go, right? It told a story contrary to Hollywood myth and lore. Should not the same principle apply here? Liberal rebuttal in 5…4…3…2…
(Or will the comment even survive the Finke screen)
Well technically a few years back the Regan mini series was canceled for its portrayal. Plus this should focus on all parties since it covers the entire election. I’ll just remain neutral until somebody sees a script.
Clearly someone (not you) has seen a script, so no need to be superior, er… neutral.
Right, and don’t forget the abc 9/11 mini series was cancled thanks to the Clinton thugs.
Uh … you don’t know what you’re talking about. “The Path to 9/11″ aired as scheduled on Sept 10 – 11, 2006. There were very minor edits made when producer Cyrus Nowrasteh was called out on deliberate untruths in the piece, but it was still a hit-job on the Clintons. It also wasn’t very good, which is perhaps why you’ve forgotten it already.
Yo, flipside, you are, unsurprisingly, incorrect. ABC did, in fact, air a biased (as in right-wing biased) mini-series on 9/11. Look it up. You know, as in Google it or use the search function on IMDB. It’s really not that hard.
Yo Corney, ABC will not allow the producers to distribute the movie. You can’t find it anywhere. Not on DVD, not on Netflix, not on Youtube, not anywhere. You might be able to find it on file sharing from someone’s VHS rip. Why is that?
I’ve always assumed ABC won’t release the “Path to 9/11″ film because it was so unbelievably awful, and critics and audiences hated it alike.
If they could make money off it, they would. There’s no massive conspiracy here.
Actually I think what you are referring to is a movie produced by Disney Studios which is very accurate and based on 9/11 Commission which was stocked with Clinton friends. The movie was shelled permanently because of the power weilded by the Clinton machine however, I did go on line to Amazon.com and place my order for “The Path to 911″ just in case they ever do release it. There is a short documentary entitled “Blocking the Path to 911″ which explains how this shelving of a full length film was able to occur.
The Reagan mini-series was not canceled – it was shown on Showtime.
Regan……you mean Obuma?
For the record, the one and only reason “The Reagans” was not shown on network (it did air on cable) was because of one man: Merv Griffin.
He, like so many others, saw the hatchet job the producers fabricated to essentially slaughter the image Ronald Reagan. When he got word and saw the script, he came to the aid of his dear friend Nancy and made a lot of phone calls and called in many favors. He was successful.
Today, there aren’t many powerful people in Hollywood from the old days any longer. It’s pretty much all Left wing power play.
You’re not saying anything particularly inflammatory. Of course it will play up Palin’s less-than-ideal characteristics. I don’t think it’s meant to be impartial. They can make the movie they want.
As for the Kennedy flick, well, that should have aired too.
Have you actually read the book Game Change? Not only is not a hit job on Palin it’s not even about Palin. It’s an account the entire 2008 election cycle of which Palin was only one “character”. And while she doesn’t come off particularly well in the book, Bill Clinton comes off only slightly better and John Edwards much much worse (and this is to say nothing of Clinton advisors Mark Penn, who comes of as a mean spirited egomaniacal jackass, and Patti Solis Doyles who comes off as an incompetent weakling in over her head).
The book not have been a hit job on Palin but the likelihood his the HBO version will be.
The real villain of the book, I thought, was Elizabeth Edwards. It was so unsympathetic that Heilemann and Halperin — who both typically appear on MSNBC multiple times a week — were nowhere to be seen in the days following Edwards’ death.
Julianne Moore is a pretty major get. I’ll be curious to see how the rest of the casting shakes out.
Diane Wiest would be great for Hillary Clinton.
Another commenter mentioned Nathan Fillion for Todd Palin, and he would be spot on.
Jack Nicholson in his “About Schmidt” restraints would be great for John McCain.
Yeah because they hired four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore to play, what, an extra in this? Don’t be an idiot. They’re not going to get an actress of her calibre for the role if she’s not going to be front and center. You are aware that movies aren’t always the same as the books, right? You do read books, don’t you? They’re those things that people used to read with covers on them.
You caught me. I don’t read books, wouldn’t know what to do if I found one. I was just guessing when I posted that above. I sure hope it’s right.
And I never said that Palin wouldn’t be a major character, just that if the movie follows the book, she’ll be a member of an ensemble cast.
Game Change is a scathing report of all the candidates, which is why I found it hard to put down. Will the cover all the campaigns? Which actor is depicting the Clinton outrage over the incompetence of Obama? or the repeated stories of Obama narcissism. Is this movie only a character assignation piece on conservatives?
Not pretty enough!
Agreed. Palin didnt run for President anyway. oh well, I guess they’ll act like she did. Word has it she is going to, so maybe this is geared to make her look ba and B.O. seem like a GOD
Read the Book “Game Change”, compare it to the movie, then make your judgement. Not one of the people written about in the book has come forward to date in protest of the way they were portrayed. No Law Suits.
Pretty sure they can’t sue for defamation… they’re public figures.
It’s a lot harder, but still possible. Barry Goldwater sued the NY Times for defamation and won in 1965.
Good Lord, is Moore the best they can do? Sarah is MUCH better looking!
You’re so right. Sarah’s much prettier. And Julianne oozes intelligence in every part she plays, which is an even worse fit for playing Sarah Palin.
What? WHAT? Are you deluded?
Did you not receive enough iodine in your diet when you were young?
Or are you representative of ALL of the morons in the USA?
Wouldn’t see this for the world. In fact, never read or see anything in which Socialist Mark Halperin is involved. You can bet it will not be flattering to Ms. Palin. Mr. Halperin has a method of writing I call bait and switch. He thinks it’s clever. I find it pathetic.
Glad I cancelled HBO. I loved the sweet “Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency” but most other shows and documentaries were vile, trash or vile leftist trash. Now there is talk of a kid’s Al-Jazeera show so it looks like I’ll be cancelling my cable completely and using the TV for old black and white movies.
Sarah Palin had certainly proven she doesn’t require an actress or HBO movie in order to “assassinate” her own character, you out-of-touch dumbass.
But everyone knows deep down that Sarah Palin is a joke.
What character is there to assassinate?
My dog has more talent then Moore.
Your dog is also ten times smarter than Sarah Palin.
I guess this movie is for the 4-6 year old crowd that did not live through it? Is that really the best topic they could dig up? Seriously glad I ditched cable.
Why not? Palin’s portrayal will make for great comedy.
Julianne is a long time uber Liberal activist , and though she was raised in a military family both parents were liberals as well. I expect open and hidden snarkiness on this one………..
Palin is a *lot* more attractive than Moore, and I suspect has more acting talent as well. I fully expect any movie done to have a very large negative slant due to the fact that Hollywood is 99.999% comprised of hard-left liberals…
Wow seems like everyone is getting testy… I am sure this HBO special will be accurate . Palin is a smart crafty women that caters to herself and willing to exploits her family for the dollar bill.
She quit on Alaska- to prepare for reality shows and get ready for …. whatever she has plans. I think she should be applauded I cannot remember when a women of her stature has grown so far with so little she she had- call it pop culture or being smart/stupid . She has the media attention.
The only thing that could make this TV movie tolerable is a guest appearance by Bullwinkle.
LOL too funny!
who is bullwinkle, you? When are you liberals going to work instead of playing on the computer all day.
funny thing is, you had to be on the internet to respond to this, just the same as those pesky liberals.
What’s the point of working when you(conservatives) are going to ruin everything…..just look the budget after your beloved Bush..
OMG – way too funny. RFLMAO.
Agreed. I’d still have to hold my nose if Halperin was involved.
They asked Bullwinkle but he turned them down. He was afraid Palin might think it was moose season and shoot him.
Actually that was kind of funny.
I thought you were for an “ecosustainable environment” which means living off of the land. Why are you so judmental? People grow their own food which includes not procuring caged meat–oh I’m sorry, we’re not supposed to eat meat if we want. I suppose you would rather her shop at one of your really expensive Whole Foods stores that sell extremely expensive meat instead of actually catching wild salmon or grass fed meat? Get over yourself–not everyone is like you. What happened to “live and let live”? You are all hypocrites–unless we act just as you do.
PS a Hyundai gets WAY better gas mileage than your hybrid Prius–just not as cool. Do the research
“The only thing that could make this TV movie tolerable is a guest appearance by Bullwinkle.”
…on the Palins’ dinner table!
Yep, this is why I haven’t given HBO my money for decades now. I’m sure it will be a shooting gallery of pot shots and twisted perspectives.
I also cancelled HBO several years agao and have not missed it at all.
Stop pretending you’re glad you don’t have HBO! It’s as genuine as when I pretend to my friends that my blackberry is just as good as their iphones. HBO’s got some of the best programming on TV (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound and Down, Bored to Death, True Blood, etc.), so admit that you don’t like the fact that Palin might get slammed in the upcoming movie, and get over it.
Uh, no shrimped….no pretense for me. I didn’t cancel because I needed to save that $5.95 HBO fee, I did it because I won’t waste even that much condoening their tripe.
Wow. You have really terrible taste or you are just Bored to Death. And you pay for that crap? I get it – you’re counting the days until the government will create a program wherein taxpayers will pay for that crap for you. No wonder you think a dishonest program concerning Palin is some of the “best programming on TV.” Just admit you have an irrational fear of Palin, and get over it.
LOL! Another leftist media hit job on a Republican politician. Weren’t the complete ratings failures of the Reagan hit job “bio-pic” and the Bush hit job “bio-pic” enough to tell these people to save their money?? Or is preaching to their small choir sufficient for them to proceed?
The hit job was already done by McCain’s staffers (though maybe you consider them “liberal.”) They really, really seemed to hate her. When I read GAME CHANGE, I couldn’t believe that any political operative would be willing to say such damning things about the party’s VP nominee. They allegedly told the author that they thought Palin was either on drugs or suffering from clinical depression, and that they basically had to dress her and make her wash her hair. It was shocking.
Is ‘game change’ a book? I never heard of it.
yeah, for sure lizzie. that’s why she was so plain looking while governor of AK and mayor of Wasilla. as Rush says, the left will ALWAYS tell you who they fear and they really fear her and her appeal to most of America.
McCain’s staffers (though maybe you consider them “liberal.”)
Yes they were. McCain is a Progressive or Liberal. I am surprised that anyone thinks anything else. Look at his daughter she is a flaming Liberal. She had to get her opinions from somewhere. I say from her mom and dad.
I thought the bush bio pic was pretty fair, minus making him seem a little quirky… do not see this being a fair movie, and i can’t stand julianne moore
I think this is being made DUE the success and awards of RECOUNT, which accurately portrayed how Bush stole the election.
Because you were there watching the whole thing and you know exactly what happened. Several recounts since then have clearly demonstrated that Bush won the election in 2000. You’re going to ride this one to your grave, aren’t you?
BOOOOOOORING!!!! I would rather watch grass grow.
Is anyone that is not a liberal going to even watch this?
Sure there will. Lots of ‘em.
Lots of them? So, people who act like children at the mere mention of Palin are going to watch this movie about her?
Riiiiiight.
I would watch it if I had HBO. I’m a Conservative, a Palin supporter and I ignore the leftists misinformed remarks.
What do you exactly support Palin for?
For her right to exist. To breath without idiot harassment. To have her children treated with respect, instead of being attacked by evil adults. To be able to speak her mind without harassment from those determined to shut her up. To be given the respect that any human should give another. People who treat their dogs the way the left treats Ms. Palin would be promptly arrested for cruelty. Shall I go on?
Oh I had a good one, but my better judgement stopped me. Suffice it had to do with you becoming a musical instrument.
How about her excellent plans for energy independence in the United States? Or her will to audit the Federal Reserve? She’s a stand up woman with a solid record. I’m sure this show we’ll attempt to smear her.
Boo hoo. Poor Sarah the half-governor quiter, reality show poser, as if anyone could shut her up. If the movie is good people will watch it. If it’s crap, people will avoid it. And if conservatives want to write, produce/finance, distribute whatever movie they want, then nobody is stopping them. It’s not like FOX isn’t one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world. Or you righties can make a boring “conservative” film about whatever you want and show it on the internet — whatever, just stop all the whining about Sarah. If you are a supporter of hers then you are by definition a close-minded person afraid of a solid intellectual argument. I would love to have her run as your candidate because over the course of a campaign she’ll crash and burn whenever confronted by tough questions like “what do you read?”
What really annoys the sad Palin supporters is the pitch perfect portrayal of Palin by Tina Fey because, for the vast majority of Americans, Tina’s hilarious send up has fixed Palin as an intellectual lightweight who, going forward, won’t be able to run for president via twitter and facebook. Seriously, she’s afraid to go on Meet the fricking Press or any other media outlet besides Fox. While Fox may be the most popular news channel on cable, it may surprise all those Fox cool-aide drinkers to discover the rest of the country gets their news from all kinds of sources, which means if she only talks to Hannity or Beck she’ll only be reaching a few million people, and according to resent polls, only about 35% of Fox watchers support Palin. Whatever, the thing about Palin is she is a narcissist who clings to her own beliefs even when confronted by cold hard facts. She represents the dumbing down of American politics, and that takes some doing.
As for the other films about Reagan or Clinton or Kennedy- supporters have a right to object and point out whatever problems they have with the film, and if they can lobby to force changes or keep it off the air, then so be it. The people making those or any political film can resist and produce whatever film they want, but they listen to objections when they think it will impact their bottom line. The freedom of speech in the 1st Amendment doesn’t mean we can’t speak out, it just means the government can’t unreasonably restrict speech. So funny when all the Drudge zombies descend on Deadline- so predictable and so, so weak.
I believe Sarah Palin is the one who’s issued – on national television and in countless interviews – misinformed remarks. I prefer my presidential politicians to know some geography, world history, and Supreme Court cases. But I guess those minimum requirements are just “liberal bias.”
Oh, brother.
Geography? Like knowing how many states America has…
SMART?
LIKE THE PRESIDENT WHO BELIEVES THE U.S. HAS 57 STATES?
LIKE THE PRESIDENT WHO SLIPPED AND REFERRED TO HIS ‘MUSLIM’ RELIGION WHEN TALKING WITH GEORGIE ON ABC — AND GEORGIE HAD TO CORRECT HIM BY SAYING ‘YOUR CHRISTIAN RELIGION’
THE PRESIDENT WHO USES A TELEPROMPTER TO TALK TO 7TH GRADERS?
I TAUGHT 7TH GRADERS AND I DIDN’T NEED NOTES OR A TELEPROMPTER.
OH, YES
LET’S HAVE SMART.
..You really want to have Palin try to match wits with President Obama? Even my conservative friends all acknowledge that there is no contest. The President has demonstrated, over the course of his life, that he’s an intelligent, thoughtful, articulate man. Palin can barely mumble a coherent sentence via twitter. Whatever, you won’t see beyond your own racism. You want to oppose the President’s policies, then make an argument based on relevant facts. I don’t believe Palin doesn’t know that Africa is a continent, not a country, as some lefties like to joke, and you fools on here should also stop acting like children by claiming that the President of the United States doesn’t know or didn’t know the US has 50 states. All politicians misspeak- Sarah maybe more than most, but I don’t care about any of that. What I care about is her stance on real policy issues like energy, taxes (she did have to read that note- cut taxes- off her palm- that was funny, and sad), foreign policy, etc.
To claim that the President can’t or never speaks without the use of a teleprompter is to be willfully ignorant of all the evidence to the contrary (I cite the health care debate last year when he held a well-publicized meeting in front of cameras for several hours- Obama alone against the Republicans from the House and Senate- anyone remember that little tour de force? He wiped the floor with them for 4-5 hours, answering complex questions, diving into policy details, joking, etc.- all without a teleprompter- didn’t see it? Maybe because the Fox channel you were watching didn’t want to cover that particular performance. Wake up people- Fox is manipulating you- just as you think MSNBC is manipulating lefties. IF so, then you need to question your news sources and do more research. As for Sarah, she is very entertaining and should be flattered that Moore would portray her- Moore is an amazing talent and incredibly sexy, so much more than the Stepford-wife Sarah.
Give it up these Obama lovers don’t care about reality. Remember he is their Christ. If Obama had 1/8 the investigating of him that Palin has had of her he would never have been president. If he had the same people constantly attack him as they do her he would fold in a week. He is a puppet and someone is pulling his strings. Probably Soros.
You’re really gonna try and make an argument that Obama isn’t smart because of a couple slipped words. If the teleprompter incident you’re talking about is the one I think it is, then:
1. I think it was 6th graders (not that it matters, but you messed up the number so by your logic you’re not very smart either)
2. They were used in addressing the press and not for the actual students
3. Does it really matter?
Obama deserves to be president because he is an educated man with knowledge of U.S. policies, politics, and history. The use of a teleprompter does not really detract from this. He understands and can talk about the issues. He demonstrated this when, in a ballsy and unprecedented move, he bitch slapped the vast majority of the house Republicans on their retreat last year, taking questions, without notes or teleprompter, live on television from a room full of Republicans who opposed his policies.
Palin on the other hand, had to write “Energy”, “Budget Cuts”, and “Lift American Spirits” on her hand for a friendly pre-screened Q&A. Does this mean that she is not smart, not necessarily, but claiming that Russia’s proximity to Alaska gives her foreign policy credentials does raise the question.
Gaffes are gaffes. Sometimes interviews are bad, but I still have no reason to believe that Sarah Palin has the intellectual ability to perform the duties of the highest office in our Country, no matter how fond some people are of her. I don’t know if you actually read Game Change or not, but the later sections of the book make it quite clear that Palin was clearly thrown into big league politics too quickly and lacked very basic fundamental knowledge. Obama on the other hand, even when he was not completely familiar with the topic, was more than ready to do the necessary work when the economy started looking bad. He continually sought to broaden his knowledge of the topic, while Palin kinda/hardly/didn’t really learn much of the history and political lessons that her aides painfully tried to grind into her.
Also putting everything you say in caps makes it seem less like you taught 7th grade and more like you belong in 7th grade.
When you put everything you say in caps it makes it seem less like you taught 7th grade and more like you belong in 7th grade.
Oh brother is right ethan, nothing like the intellectual president of our 57 states that is currently in the job training program formerly known as the President of the USA who now employs a czar for his czars. I would love to see Sarah debate him (without the teleprompter, of course, only notes on his hand). Maybe our “Constitutional” lawyer who was president of but never published in Harvard Law Review could misquote the Pledge of Allegiance and attribute quotes to the Constitution instead of the Bill of Rights. The smartest man in the room who refuses to release his grades. Ha!
So you didn’t vote for Obama either?
Oh please. Obummer doesn’t even know how many states there are in America or if he believes he’s a Christian or a Muslim. Who doesn’t know what religion you are. Oh yes, Stephanopoulos had to remind him.
Sara Palin and her family have been used as fodder for the canon. On slow day leftist news media jumps on Palin. Joanna Moore? Bizaar. Does she need money that bad, is her career slumping, is she looking for a new audience. Kathy Griffin is jump starting her flagging career using Palin as a punching bag. Kathy Griffin is becoming the new Joan Rivers. Guess she wore out the bath house gigs. Hollywood stinks. Drugs, sex and alcohol. Anything produced with Palin highligted will be a hit piece you can be sure. People save your money, nothing produced by Hollywood or Pop Culture is worth my time or my money. See Charlie Sheen and Lindsey Lohan. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Doesn’t matter. It’s HBO, and “Recount” did very well for them and won them two Emmys. HBO’s only concern is its subscriber base, and something tells me its subscriber base is quite pleased with this.
Mmmm… capitalism!
“Gee, we can afford to alienate half our potential audience”
- HBO execs
HBO has pretty consistently programmed shows that require some intellectual acuity to enjoy. I doubt conservatives constitute more than 10% of their viewing audience.
‘Intellectual Acuity’…
I can see you patting yourself on the back.
I haven’t seen a thing on HBO that couldn’t be understood by an 8th grader.
In fact, I’d bet that someone that thinks HBO enjoyment requires some ‘Intellectual Acuity’ to enjoy their programming probably has the intellectual capacity of most 8th graders… from Detroit.
I don’t care either way, I love East Bound & Down and Entourage, but I don’t fellate myself because I get the jokes.
Loser.
Typical liberal smear. “All conservatives are stupid.” I have yet to see any real data supporting that; just grade school “I’m smarter than you are” taunts. By the way, this particular conservative has an IQ in the top 2%, was in Mensa long enough to get bored with it’s pretension, and taught philosophy at the local junior college for almost 20 years. What are your credentials?
ummm.. He lives in his mom’s basement…
Top 2% is really not that great. And LMFAO at anyone who would join Mensa in the first place. Philosophy at a junior college! Too precious
Uh, Mr. Mensa, the word is “its” not “it’s”. So much for your “credentials”.
You are wrong – it is it’s pretension meaning mensa’s pretension.
LOL @ Mensa credentials on an anonymous blog. Ooooo I’m REAL impressed. Oh, and I’m the King of England. Nice try.
You’re absolutely right, just a little. Now if it required anymore, then the type of slobbering fools who think Bill Maher is hip and clever would be lost. So I agree with you.
Dreydel
HBO has pretty consistently programmed shows that require some “intellectual acuity” to enjoy. I doubt conservatives constitute more than 10% of their viewing audience.
HBO programs are sleazy at best. Historical docs are not their forte.
HBO’s historical docs are sex, sex, and more sex. Fictional and fill the blanks with whatever political movement is popular at the moment. Being a conservative I fall in the 90% that does not watch HBO.
When Game Change is made put in the fictional catagory.
Why do I think that HBO’s audience–an audience that lapped up the foul-mouthed and violent “The Sopranos” and “Deadwood” and the probably-seen-as-immoral-and-depraved-because-it-is “Curb Your Enthusiasm”–an audience that embraced the clearly left-leaning “The Wire”–is signficantly less than 50% conservative? Jesus, have you seen their highest rated program, True Blood? Conservatives = evil, gays = good, and sexy. We’re not exactly talking subtle here. Again, True Blood is their number one smash hit.
What in the blue blazes makes you think HBO’s audience won’t like this movie? (even putting aside the fact that Roach & Strong got very high marks for their fairness to all sides in “Recount.”)
Sooo… a liberal writer and a liberal producer are getting together to write-produce a movie about the conservative that most scares the liberals. Should be fun.
I’m sorry to see Julianne involved. It will be another attempt by the left to rewrite history to fit their limited and elitist view of the world.
Most liberals I know love Sarah Palin because they know she’ll be the GOP nominee in 2012, she’ll appeal to that same 30% of the country while the other 70% re-elect Obama. The grousing I hear about Palin comes from Republicans who know what’s going to happen but are powerless to stop it.
I doubt that liberals are scared of Palin or they wouldn’t make this film. Obviously you are frightened of the attempt to display the true Palin for all to see.
Do you live under a rock?
The true Palin? In an HBO movie? Played by Julianne Moore? That’s rich.
Uh, not really. That’s why they do these things, because she SCARES them. Her potential electoral victories scare them so they do what they can to assassinate her character and damage any future political run while they can, so that she never gets elected. The other poster wasn’t talking about scared as in “she’s gonna beat them up”. Doofus.
You really think liberals are scared of her? People are scared what this country would turn into with her as president.
And you don’t find Obama scary?
If she gets elected President, then the country is already what you fear it would become. Your fears are somewhat justified given that America voted in the least experienced President in recent history based on our wish for a leader that could bring the nation together, the election of which would signal our maturing as a country by electing the first black president. Instead it only pointed out that we are as divided as ever when any criticism of his positions are considered racists, even by the president himself. Even if the intent is racists, black men have had to withstand far worse racists attacks than the one’s that the liberals are crying about when we dare to speak out against what he says and does. So yes, liberals do fear Sarah Palin because she is not afraid to speak. I hope that she does have the courage to face the voters and let them deal the final blow if that is their choice. But if she wins, it will be with the full faith and support of all who love those who are victorious in the face of relentless attack. If she wins, we will see to what extent the Left will go to keep her from succeeding as our first woman President.
I don’t waste too much time ripping on PMSNBC or its hosts as I have no concern that they would actually influence more than the 10 members of their immediate audience.
You don’t waste this much time ripping someone you despise UNLESS you think there is a risk that that person could be a threat. I’m not saying a great threat, but still a threat. They have viewed her as a threat since day one. She is a conservative female. In other words, she is a threat to siphon off from those of one of their ‘protected class’. Watch what happens when Rubio runs for POTUS and see how demeaning they’ve been any blacks who dare leave the liberal/Democrat plantation.
Can’t do much worse than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I’m not particularly a Palin fan, but before you slam someone else for what they may do as president take a look at the one in there at the moment. Personally I don’t want either of them in the White House, or any of the horde of pretenders to the throne. However, singling Palin out as a target (oops, can I say “target”?) is a sad tactic to assassinate her character to make her unviable as a candidate.
If filmmakers didn’t make movies of things that scared them, there would be no horror genre, disaster movies, or murder mysteries. The fact thay they’re making the movie demonstrates how terribly frightened they are of her. As you obviously believe all the anti-Palin propaganda put out by the left wing and Hollywood, I’d suspect you’re like most liberals, at heart a coward who collapses into a fetal position at the mere mention of her name. If someone mentions it twice, you might check your pants to see if you were scared into a little leakage.
C’mon. You write this stuff and actually believe it? To summarize your point: filmmakers make movies about things that scare them, ergo they are making a movie about Palin because it scares them.
Huh?
Liberals aren’t scared of Palin. They’re scared of people like you – who would VOTE for her.
Remember, this is a woman who actually thinks that being able to see Russia from Alaska is an asset, and who quit the Governorship of that state to star on a crappy reality TV show.
Think!
Yes, there is a lot of FEAR, but not of Palin…but of people like you.
To quote one of Disney’s best sodomite employees: “we don’t like what we don’t understand, in fact it scares us”! I hope you get the reference. It was the first movie I took my daughter to.
You’re getting your information from Tina Fey – hilarious!! You’re so enlightened that you can’t keep straight the parody the left is creating of Sarah Palin and Ms. Palin’s actual words and beliefs.
You’re also delusional if you fail to see how frightened the liberals are of Sarah Palin. She’s almost as scary as Ronald Reagan was and they raked that guy over the coals.
“the true Palin”, right. You probably get your news from MSNBC and your history from the History Channel.
That’s laughable. Name a movie about any conservative political figure that got fair treatment from a progressive. I can’t wait to see what Spielberg does with Lincoln. Maybe he’ll portray him as a closet homosexual.
I can. Oliver Stone’s “Nixon.” If you watch the American Experience episode featuring Nixon (based on real footage, news accounts, etc.), it followed the movie structurally beat-by-beat.
Typical cons, the biggest bullies yet always trying to play victim.
Riiight! We’ll get the “true Palin” from HBO like you get your objective news from MSNBC and the New York Slimes. If Sarah Palin really is such a nobody, such an idiot, such a joke, then why are they making a movie about her? I’ll tell you why. They’ve tried to destroy her every way they could, and nothing has worked. She’s as popular as ever, and seen as a king maker by many. The more you ridicule her and try to destroy her, the more it’s evident that she is a threat to the left, and a force to be reckoned with.
“Attempt to display the true Palin for all to see.”
We are talking about liberal elitist here, they will never do anything true. Not only that when this hits the air waves MSM will use it as a Hot Topic news story for days, for weeks, for months. Fodder for the canon. Talk about Palin and not about a failed president.
Come on, dum dum. You have NO idea what it’s about. The first 65 percent of the story is all about Clinton, Edwards and Obama, and it doesn’t exactly paint them in the best(albeit accurate) light. The second part is about McCain and his decision to pick Palin as his running mate.
For the record, the book is completely true and the writers have never been accused of any bullshit. Typical conservatives, jumping into an argument and pointing fingers without having ANY idea what’s going on.
With that said, I’d rather see this great book get the Mike Nichols treatment.
Well sarah palin just got an upgrade in the looks department.
Ahh…you may need to have your eyes checked Slim.
I second that Paul….and I’m a heterosexual woman who is not in the least jealous of her great looks, charm, wit, intelligence, honesty, patriotism, commitment, faith and appeal she has to most Americans. The left will always tell you who they fear.
Pasty skin non beauty queen replaces great complexion former Alaska Governor, mind you she’s kept this up after 5 kids and two miscarriages.
What have we learned, libtard?
Palin is much better looking than Moore. And she has better teeth. Moore is so overrated.
Agreed. And SP would kick Moore’s ass in either a debate or a womano y womano brawl. GAME CHANGE will be another insipid attempt by HBO to arouse liberals and socialists. The book was B-B-B-Boring, so would you expect it’s teleplay to be otherwise ? Julianne Moore will probably win an Emmy. Who will be cast as Obama ? I hope Tim Robbins , or Penn. As in Sean. Both could nail the portrayal – they’re all boring egotists.
Palin is better looking than Julianne Moore? Yes and I can see the people of the Andromeda galaxy from my ground floor manhattan apartment window. Get a grip.
You’re blind.
Are you serious? Palin is HOT. Moore is as flat as her talent.
BTW, if this isn’t a hit job on Palin, then WHY would Moore, a DEVOUT liberal, agree to play a conservative? Even if she wanted to be true to life, she doesn’t know what truth IS.
Sarah is definitely better looking than Julianne Moore. Nice try.
I anm not familiar with Moore but based on the above photo Sarah Palin is much more attractive.
I’m no Palin “fan”, but give me a break…she’s much easier on the eyes than Moore (w/ the polar bear tan). Moore’s overrated as well.
What I’m wondering is who is going to play Obama and Obiden.Maybe Chris Rock as Obama and Charlie Sheen as Obiden.
I’m going with that “Satursday Night Live” guy for O’Bama
too bad they don’t know a whole lot about the real Sarah Palin. The authors of the book or HBO that is.
Good thing I don’t pay for HBO.
Please bless us with your knowledge of the “real Sarah Palin.”
I’ll probably watched about 30 minutes worth and turn it off from disgust. I wouldn’t give HBO a dime if I didn’t like their weekly shows so much.
Of course! Why watch the whole thing? It might contrast or conflict with your world/political views. What would you be disgusted by particularly though, just out of curiosity. Did you read the book? Did you not like the part where liberals looked bad or where conservatives looked bad?
“If you’re conservative, we don’t want your business. We can get by just fine without you”
- HBO execs
why don’t you bring back flight of the Concords that would get more ratings. No one cares about the past elections it happened it’s over and it’s too soon to be considered a historical movie attempt….
I am so glad HBO doesn’t need me. I canceled HBO today. I am a conservative.
I agree completely. This will give me more time to watch Faux News!
What made you subscribe to HBO in the first place? What HBO programs did you actually watch?
And seriously, dude? De-subscribing just before “Game of Thrones” goes on the air, which is probably going to be HUGE? When this movie hasn’t even been shot yet? Why not wait to see if “Game of Thrones” is any good first? Or “Luck”?
I’m kinda calling shenanigans on this one.
Raunchy is the name for HBO, never buy and never watch.
Lots of people just dismiss anything coming from this company
and consider the sorce…
not watching ever!!!!
Who gives a crap, why comment.
I love that a certain segment of our society just can’t get enough of Sarah. Just LOOK at all the p.r. she receives for simply existing. And they call her the “stupid” one. LOL
If they also focus on Hillary Clinton, bring Hope Davis back as a more weathered Clinton. She could knock it out again easily.
There is one other thing that this movie misses. The real life person is far better looking that the actress!
Hell most conservative women are 100 times better looking than liberal women. LOL
Yea- why is that? Do they start unattractive and become liberal, or does being liberal make them unattractive?
Scarlett Johansson. End of story. done
Sigh…..A hit job on a Republican….this is so boring and tiring……..If Sarah Palin is so stupid then why is she a multi millionaire when so many of these jerk offs who hate her so much are in bankruptsy and don’t have the money for coffee……
Sue, this is going to be a shocker, but there’s no correlation between fame and intelligence. It’s the same system that allows The Situation to earn five million a year.
Obviously Sue is much too smart to fall into “bankruptsy.”
Julianne Moore? Great actress, but she bears no resemblance to Palin. They should get Nathan Fillion for Todd Palin. Give him a goatee and he’d be the spitting image of the guy.
As for the movie itself, while Recount at least didn’t lean overwhelming to the left(although it did portray the Democrat side more sympathetically), the problem with Game Change is the source material. The biggest player in the 2008 election, Barack Obama, was glossed over. All the major dirt dished was on the Clintons, Palin, and Edwards. It’s not so much that I think the finished product will be a left-wing hit piece. It’s that it’ll be boring and superfluous.
I think it did a pretty good job of covering all candidates and important figures. It in no way glossed over Obama, he was pretty central in the book. If your talking about who got slammed the most well the wright fiasco was covered pretty extensively I thought, but its true that the other candidates got a little more of the negative coverage in the book. Maybe it was some bias, maybe they couldn’t find as much on Obama. I could completely see them screwing up the movie, but I think it has potential because the book was more than just a political dirt slinging hit piece, it was a genuinely interesting story.
You CAN’T spell liberalism without L-I-E-S
I can. Can’t you spell?
A Palin movie sounds fun, but what the hell is the hold up on LATE SHIFT 2, HBO? Cast Conan already and start shooting!
The subtitle should be “jay not funny”.
The book was fair. The movie won’t be.
There are a lot of guys who have deep-seeded problems with women, including some very liberal guys. In recent years, the only socially acceptable way for those liberal men to unleash their vitriol is to vilify Sarah Palin.
I wish Jay Roach would call up his mom or see his therapist or something rather than waste his energy making a movie about a book that reduced President Obama’s landmark election victory to a collection of gossip anecdotes that wouldn’t be worthy of a Cindy Adams column.
People don’t attack Sarah Palin because she is a woman. They attack her because people listen to the nonsense she says. She is, honestly, not very well informed on policies and issues.
I, as I assume is the same for the vast majority liberals, do not have “deep-seeded problems with women” or the women culture (did you see what I did there?). I do have a problem with sarah palin though because of the anti-intellectualism she represents. What she doesn’t represent is women.
If I were Palin I’d be miffed that they picked this old woman to play me. At least pick an actress close to the same age.
mentally or physically??
Oh Common guys, everyone knows red states can’t afford HBO!!
LOLOLOLOL
But seriously now, you betcha this is gonna be a big hit.
Pretty good. I’ll give you a 6/10.
