Sarah Palin is getting the movie treatment with HBO Films’ Game Change. Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore will portray the former Alaska governor in the project, which will chronicle Palin’s burst into the national scene as a surprise vice presidential candidate in 2008. Directing Game Change is Jay Roach, director of the Meet the Parents movies as well as the HBO film Recount, which examined the aftermath of the 2000 presidential election with a focus on the Florida recount.
Game Change is based on Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book about the 2008 presidential elections and follows John McCain’s campaign from his selection of Palin as his running mate to their ultimate defeat in the general election.
Danny Strong, who previously wrote the Roach-directed Recount, penned the script for Game Change. Roach is executive producing, with Strong co-executive producing.
So far, Palin has been most famously portrayed on TV by Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live. Palin herself works a contributor on Fox News Channel and became a reality TV star with her limited series, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which ran on TLC to sold ratings.

“There is one other thing that this movie misses. The real life person is far better looking that [sic] the actress!”
You’re on drugs.
Sarah is an attractive woman, but Julianne Moore is gorgeous – a liberal twit – but still gorgeous.
that’s funny – Moore is homely. She has gray-green teeth and is underwhelming at best. The actors at Saturday Night Live were shocked at how attractive Palin was in person. They were expecting an old mule.
Eye of the beholder … and your eye has crude in it.
You need to see an ophthalmologist! Moore’s decent looking, but can’t hold a candle to Palin.
I agree! Sara Palin is much better looking than Michael Moore.
The movie recount it I remember was fair but I doubt this one will be fair. Probally will come out around election day in 2012.
MS. Moore, better be fair with your betrayal because your popularity may take a major hit if this is nothing but a Lib slanted snowjob. I think right off the bat I for one can live and sleep very soundly if MS Moore doesn’t have another successful film ever.
Or to put it very bluntly, Julianne who????
Since America’s sewer dwellers are the handful remaining that still watch a once credible HBO, this mean-spirited liberal hatchet job will make their liberal loon audience swoon with happiness.
JM, you’re going to need a lot of makeup to look as good as SP. I’m sure your portrayal will be fair and balanced. Not. I’ll never know though cause I dont get HBO, and wouldn’t watch this trash if I did.
Helpers for Barack Obama!
Recount was such a bad movie. When I finally watched it I was disappointed. Bad acting, bad directing and the facts were not straight on everything… This time he needs to get the facts straight on EVERYTHING. If he doesn’t on one little thing everyone will discredit it and people will just joke about it
If any of you boobs had bothered to actually read the book, you would know that Game Change is a very pointed critique of the Obama and Clinton campaigns. McCain comes across decently, and the Palin section is about 50 pages. So, please, before you attack something as “liberal”, do your freakin’ homework.
I agree that it was very focused on and often critical of the Obama and Clinton campaigns. I don’t think McCain came across “decently”. His campaign (though likely factually accurate) came across as disorganized. Palin had about 50 pages worth of info and it only came in 3/4 into the book, but most of it was pretty negative. I agree with you that most people complaining should read the book. It seemed pretty fair and (supposedly) pretty factually accurate.
Too bad HBO doesn’t do an Obama movie, that would be a good comedy. Sad to see Moore in this, I liked her as an actress.
Moore should be honored, to play one of the most important and influential women in the last decade is an amazing opportunity. And if she fouls it up, then I feel sorry for her. The Tea Party is but a hop, skip, and jump away of becoming a full-fledged political party – one that will be detrimental to the Hollywood ideology.
PALIN IS WAAAAAY HOTTER THAN MOORE, WHO IS FRECKLED AND OVER 50. PALIN IS LEAN AND HOT. TOO BAD HBO COULDN’T FIND BRIDGET MOYNIHAN OR THE LIKE. SHE IS TALLER AND MORE ATTRACTIVE LIKE PALIN. JULIANNE MOORE SHOULD PLAY SOMEONE SHE LOOKS LIKE SUCH AS SARAH FERGUSON,,THE DUTCHESS OF YORK
Wow, I love that this post has brought out a huge throng of anti-liberal Hollywood folks. Since there are a grand total of 50 of you in Hollywood, either the last few should be posting soon….or some of you are sock puppets?
News Flash: This movie is a DRAMATIC RENDERING OF A BOOK. It is NOT A DOCUMENTARY. I realize from watching Fox News that perhaps it’s hard to tell the difference between a dramatization and reality, but yes, Virginia, there is a difference.
“A Palin movie sounds fun, but what the hell is the hold up on LATE SHIFT 2, HBO? Cast Conan already and start shooting!”
Is that even in the works? I guess it could happen. All the actors from the first movie(except for the dude who played Peter Lassally) are still alive and probably available. As for Conan, I don’t who can get to play him. Eric Stoltz(on stilts)?
I liked Julienne better when she was humping young boys in Boogy Nights.
Isn’t Palin overexposed already? We see the real Palin 24-7. Why do we need an HBO treatment? It’s different than the 100,000 liberal articles about her?
Hey HBO,,, why pull any pretense in your hatred, bigotry and elitist liberal arrogance and get Bill Maher to do the introduction
Yes, I’m sure it will be a fair and balanced portrayal. Sort of like NPR. LOL!!!
The book is a devastating portrait of Palin. McCain’s aides seem to have turned on her in a big way — the things the McCain team allegedly told the author make Palin sound just this side of Charlie Sheen.
the woman isn’t interesting in the slightest. why waste money on something like this. The people that would watch it- don’t get HBO
Dear Drudge Report Readers:
Whenever Drudge links to an article here you come in droves from the Tea Party ramparts. We’d like to remind you that FOX News was the first network to expose Sarah Palin right after the election in November 2008 as the snowbilly grifter she is they told how she became a rogue diva who demanded $150,000 in free clothing from Macys for her entire family how she never knew Africa was a continent and not just a country how she wasn’t able to follow directions from her campaign managers and so on. All of these factual things are in the book that HBO is adapting. Please don’t clutter up the comments with your inane Hollywood Hates Liberals posts. Read the book that HBO is adapting then come back after you learn what this movie will be about. Sarah Palin is just one of the people in the story. It’s also about the Clintons and the McCains and the Obamas and the entire political journalism establishment. It’s an excellent book and will make for an excellent movie.
Are you the executive producer or the director?
Hey thanks for that head-up. If you’re not careful what you click on, you can end up in truly, depressingly ignorant realms of the ether.
This would be interesting if any of it were actually fact. All these idiotic allegations are just debunked reprints of posts from hate-filled liberals on the Daily Kos. Not a sliver of truth in any of them. But then, the left never let fact get in the way of a good smear.
Africa is a country????? Who knew. Where do you get your “Fox News” from? Huffpo? So Palin got directions mixed up? Is that anything like obama saying Afghans speak Arabic or calling the Prime Minister of Canada the President of Cananda? At least she didn’t tour all 57 states. That would have been “wee-weed up” like in DC (according to obamessiah).
Anon. Drudge report? Think you have been watching too much Saturday Night Live. Saturday night Live is satire, you know like the Onion.
Drudge Report is a news site based on daily headlines around the world.
MSM is Journolist and and heavy bias reporting.
Yawn.
HBO has never been the same since The Sopranos and Sex and the City went off the air. Granted, it would be very hard for any network to replace those two iconic series, but it seems like HBO hardly even tried. (John From Cincinnati, anyone?)
As far as Game Change goes, the book was basically one big long gossip column. Most of the authors’ sources were disgruntled McCain staffers who had an ax to grind with Palin.
In any event, Ryan Seacrest would make a better Sarah Palin than Julianne Moore.
Deadwood and The Wire beat Sex & The City any day of the week, as does The Pacific.
There was nothing more BORING than the 2008 election, well, except the Obama presidency. It’s a shame because I liked Julianne Moore but there’s no reason she should be taking roles like this. This will be stupid.

[Response to call from reader to defeat the Tea Party and support Obama]
To the Editor:
We have come to this political point because when government pursues matters, better left in private hands, it consumes the needed resources that must be used for the legitimate functions that government must do; and once the appetite for those redistributed resources is wetted the appetite is endless. Studies clearly demonstrate that the longer you pay someone not to work the less likely they will ever work. Combine that with those who game the system by working for short periods of time to once again qualify for welfare, you’ve got a social mess in the making. Just like the Progressive movement of the late 1800’s fought against government corruption at all levels the TEA party movement is attempting to do the same thing by fighting against liberal democrats who are really socialist in nature. Unless President Obama resigns, or is impeached, or pulls an LBJ, he will be there as President. Mr. Obama will not compromise on his socialist principles nor will he use the United States military to unequivocally defend Americas economic as well as strategic interests abroad. Mr. Obama will continue to weaken this nation fiscally, and militarily by standing up for failed ideas and failed economic philosophies. The TEA party, like the progressive movement of the past is standing up for our core values.
In addition President Obama is exceedingly similar to President Bush. In fact you could say that President Obama is Bush on a combination of viagra and steroids. Even with “Obamacare” in that it is just a supernova size leap bigger than President Bushes expansion of benefits. We are also still fighting for one side of the same muslim/arab coin. Prior to the election I observed more than a few local citizens make signs and protest “George Bush’s War.” I wonder where are those citizens today? I’m betting an awful lot of liberal democrats voted for Mr. Obama not because they thought he would wreck the best healthcare market in the world, but to stop the war and bring the troops home. Well, Mr. Obama had the authority to give that order one second after he took the oath of office, yet decided not to. Mr. Obama must buy into the idea that we can be successful in fighting for one side of the same muslim/arab coin and that he will be long gone before the world actually reaps the weeds from this failure to take decisive action. Please do not misunderstand me. If it were up to me we would decimate those that threatened our strategic interests. If I was going to order the men and women of the United States military to kill for their country, I would not do so in some ham fisted “I was against it before I was for it manner.” They deserve better. That’s why I voted for Senator John McCain, he felt the actual pain of war, I wanted a man like that to make decisions on matters of war and peace.
In my view the Progressive movement was perverted into something it was not meant to be, and if those in the TEA party movement are not ever vigilant it too will suffer a similar fate. But not today. Or the next election. From what I perceive these mothers and fathers seem to be applying that innate God given instinct of right verse wrong and finally applying that standard to our politicians and their decisions. For crying out loud, even Governor Cuomo is running adds that make him out to be a friend of the TEA Party philosophy of lower taxes and smaller government, as if he is going to go to political war with Sheldon Silver and his assembly! If you believe that I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale real cheap. Regardless of Cuomo’s musings, on November 6, 2012 I will be voting for real change. With any luck I will be voting for Governor Palin to be the next President of these United States, and to the future generations who will thank her for rescuing this nation from national suicide, much the same way we thank Reagan for saving us from President Carter’s failed policies and leadership. Like Reagan understood we do not have the right to fail future generations of Americans. We have an obligation to save and preserve this nation for them, and we must!
Respectfully,
Joe Doakes
Wait a second. You’re telling me that HBO is still in business? Who knew??
