EXCLUSIVE: It’s all over but the press release! Almost a month after Deadline revealed that Kevin Costner was in early talks for a lead role in Superman: Man of Steel, I hear that he has closed a deal to play Jonathan Kent, the adoptive dad of Clark Kent. Costner will join Henry Cavill, who is playing the title role, and Diane Lane, who is playing Martha Kent, his adopted mother.
Zack Snyder is directing for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. The Superman film is being produced by Chris Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers. The new Superman is targeted for release in December 2012.
Now, the speculation will begin on who will play the Superman villain. Early reports had Viggo Mortensen as the likely candidate, but I don’t think that’s going to be possible, if he signs that deal to star with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron in Universal Pictures’ Snow White and the Huntsman. Let the guessing game begin! Costner is repped by WME and One Talent Management.

watchmen was n ot a good movie
Powerhouse team. Go Costner.
I think Batman has his hands full in the TDNR. But the big thing underwraps is William H. Masey as “The Jokers Dad” aka Dark Joker.
Dark Joker gets, revenge after Batman accidently kills his son! Sort of like Spider-Man.
Kevin “Leroy” Kosner should stick to small tv roles! He was good in Wolfe Dancer’s Field of Dream Land. But after that he’s married hot babes and his carrier tanked! Like Charles aka Carlos Sheen he’s a babe magnet.
Superman should date his adpoted mom! Diane Lane is ONE HOT MOMMA!
But Leroy Kosner wouldn’t like it one/two bit!
It should be a complete Unknown, like Alan Rickman was for Die Hard, or Ralph Fiennes was for Schindler’s List, or Gert Frobe was for Goldfinger.
A “good” bad-guy is critical for movie, but it doesn’t have to be a star. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but, you just can’t argue that Christoph Waltz, a COMPLETE unknown in the US but a terrific actor, helped make Inglourious Basterds rise to a level of great from just ok.
I feel a big star in this case would be a distraction.
Uncle Ron
Here is my suggestion for Actors for the remaining cast
Vin Diesel as LEX LUTHOR
Barry Newman as Jor El or Perry White
Liam Neeson as General Zod
You do know Kevin Costner is a cancer to all his films except for Dances With Wolves in the box-office, right? Sure, Field of Dreams was an OK hit, but nothing worth bragging about. What’s next, Water World? The Postman? Rumor Has It? Unless you consider The Bodyguard to be a major hit, Kevin Costner has been a box-office pariah, except for Dances With Wolves that is. Which was what, more than 20 years ago?
Liam Neeson has worn out his welcome! He plays the same part over and over again! Boring. NEXT!
It has recently been announced that Michael Shannon has been casted to play “General Zod”.
No way!…He is too tall, and he just hasn’t got the face for the part.
Now listen here Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder, people are saying if only you could bring back Terence Stamp?
Well you can,Aaron Price looks exactly like Terence Stamp when the latter portrayed “General Zod” in “Superman 2″.
Aaron is 26 years-old,six foot tall,he is british,and a complete unknown.
You seriously need to re-cast the part of “General Zod” and give the part to Aaron Price, not only will he give the movie a greater substance, but it will be the pinnacle of an ambition fulfilled.
Checkout Aaron’s channel on You Tube…..apriceproduction.
I defy anyone NOT to see the potential of a great actor.
He is also on Facebook.
This is a wake-up call to Warner Brothers, remember “Aaron Price” he WILL be the next in line for stardom.
