Dick Wolf has said that, after the creative revamp of Law & Order: Los Angeles, it will more closely resemble the mothership Law & Order series. And now LOLA is doing exactly what L&O famously did – take a big local crime story and do a fictional version of it. An upcoming episode of the spinoff, which is now filming, features a storyline clearly inspired by the recent murder of top Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen. In the episode, entitled Benedict Canyon, a famous Hollywood stylist is murdered in what initially appears a random robbery gone bad. But, while in the case of Chasen the investigation ruled the murder just that – the result of a random robbery – the case on LOLA takes multiple turns and gets more sinister as dark family secrets are revealed.
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed viewers probably noticed that in the new NBC promos for the April 11 return of LOLA, the title of the show is listed as Law & Order: LA. Along with the show, its title is getting a makeover too – it is being shortened from the original Law & Order: Los Angeles.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

NBC is making the correct decision here.
That’s all fine and dandy, but when are we going to get our Charlie Sheen-inspired episode? LOLA needs to crank that out stat…though perhaps it’d be more fun to have Goren tackle that case…
Pay attention Larry…
“Law & Order: Louisiana”…Wow, when they said they were revamping the show, they weren’t kidding!
Or, I hope they put the periods after the “L” and the “A” the way it’s supposed to be when they mean “Los Angeles”.
Are you really that concerned over people not knowing it takes place in Los Angeles? What a stupid thing to say… REACHING for something negative to post it seems…
Brett, it was obviously a joke. I can see that you are not a comedy writer. And for the record, LA is the correct abbreviation for Louisiana. L.A. is the correct abbreviation for Los Angeles.
BTW – YOU are the one who is reaching for something negative to post it seems.
Life is truly ironic isn’t it?
We will never know the truth about Ronnie. It was hushed up so fast—
Something didn’t add up about the outcome of that case. Yes, the truth will never be known.
Shaping to be a good revamp. The LOLA that aired in the fall was uneven, boring, and just not interesting. Though I will miss Regina Hall.
Hope they will actually have a proper theme song as well this time around!
I’m still too devoted to the L&O line-up of Jeremy, Anthony, Alana, Sam, and Linus to even bother with LOLA. I do appreciate Alana coming to the show, but without the others it has lost its magic. Call it a day with this already and quit insulting those of us who have followed L&O since it debuted.
Dear Dick Wolf,
If Law & Order LA wants a real shot in the arm, bring back Chris Noth as Mike Logan. In fact, Noth needs to lose that lame gig on CBS’ The Good Wife. And when The Last Championship Season ends its Broadway run, Noth would be free to consider returning to the West Coast.
Food for thought.
Bringing back Chris Noth as Mike Logan would be just the shot in the arm this franchise needs. Besides, Noth needs to lose that lame gig on CBS’ The Good Wife. When The Last Championship Season ends its Broadway run, he’d probably welcome the right offer to return to the West Coast where LOLA is shot.
I like the changes.
Anyway the best episodes of Law and Order,Law and Order SVU, have been those inspired by actual crimes. Could Charlie Sheen be worked in an episode? Of course. Take a murder,an actor say on crystal meth etc and the eccentries of Los Angeles you bet could be a story. A real good one.
Watching that episode should make for a very uncomfortable evening for Ms. Chasen’s brother.
She must have been trapped into being stopped by two people , one standing in front of the car; she was too smart not to drive off from just one vagrant attempting an assault from the street on a bike. Not possible.

Are you sure this is about Chasen. Sounds more like Susan Berman. They don’t mention her.
Fascinating. Someone needs to dig this out of the vault STAT and get it made.
@Michelle — the Susan Berman/Robert Durst story was tackled by Bobby Goren on Criminal Intent in one of the early seasons of that show.
I remember LA Law with the kinky episodes and the cheesy licence…
That’s how Hollywood/LA become one tv show that would be called “porn” in todays lexicon!
Nicole Shertian used to date Michael Bolton, but who cares?
Back in her younger days she was smoking HOT! But now.. ugh..
Law & Order : LA has one bright spot is Danielle Panabaker, she’s one HOT guest star… I love watching it on MUTE.
Tv can’t get much worse, we’ve had LA:Law. We’ve had alot of crap on US tv. So if NBCUniversal goes under, they can always ask Obama 4 a “Bailout.”
Who’s Dick Wolf? Is it an “Idea” like the Monkee’s, is it a person like Madonna, or is it a secret writing guild with links to the Free Mansons?… I really don’t know… But I do know that I’d love to see Dick Wolf sing on American Idol!
Got Baiowolfe?
Star o’Knarles N’Charge
Wow, who knew Charlie Sheen would take the time out of his goddess screwing to post his thoughts about L&O:LA.
Seriously dude, take a frickin’ zannax or whatever. And BTW- did you mean Beowulf? Or Scott Baio as a wolf?
Umm. Keep writing, Kid!
I hope that no one’s surprised when rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic doesn’t work.
Still won’t watch it. Don’t like that they made Molina a cop. He just doesn’t fit the type. And Howard is too wishy, washy. They should have gotten rid of him instead of Skeet Ulrich. I hope it Flops.
