Hmmm…and that comes one week after they test screened the film. They test screened it and then moved it to a movie dumping ground weekend. Interesting.
It’s a comedy so Katherine Heigl as a bounty hunter is at least a little more believable.
Couldn’t they just move it to 2111?
Woohoo! Smart move. Even smarter would be for LG to recast & reshoot the film. Audiences don’t like Heigl.
Will this mean the end of the insanely high paychecks? Or will it take a couple more bombs?
Fake blond hair who smokes to much who can’t act and has her movies released in January when hopefully everyone that would hire her is in Sundance. She is toast. Good ride though.
I am not normally the type to say something like this, but it’s nice watching Heigl’s career plummet.
One for the money
Two for the show
Three we got Heigl
Four where do we go?
Who exactly is the audience that is supposed to give a shit about Katherine Heigl as a Bounty Hunter?
Obviously there are many women who fantasize about being bounty hunters so they can catch the man of their dreams a bad boy but only because he was falsely accused and the bounty hunter falls in love with him after she catches him and proves he’s innocent. That’s a common female fantasy right?
Please, please, please spare us one more KH flop. same goes for Gerry Butler.
Studio may not be happy after test screenings….I think we have a stinker
I bet she still plays a neurotic workaholic who hates and then loves a boorish manchild.
This is a dopey script.
I’ve read at least three of this type which are stronger. The Running Girl, The Bride of Madison Avenue, To Whom the Wedding Bells
Ring. I sat in out Tueday meeting and why she chose this was a joke to us all.
Last 4 Heigl films: 105, 93, 205, 160. While people on this board may not like her, somebody does. Still a bo draw. Not a lot of female draws out there. Angie, Reese? Aniston? Hudson?…KH still on a short list. My roommate was at this screening and liked the film. He has Wallmart taste – but I guess that’s who it’s for. And late Jan is no longer a dumping ground. Taking it off X-Men weekend is a good move. This movie will be a hit.
Um… your numbers are simply way wrong.
The Ugly Truth — 88 mil
27 Dresses — 76 mil
Killers — 47 mil
Only Knocked Up was a hit. And she was not the reason.
Umm… you list domestic box office. I list worldwide – the one that matters.
And all hits by the way….
Sorry but that horrendous movie with Ashton Kutcher was far from a hit. And that other movie of her taking care of a baby with a guy she hated and then loved…another stinker.
Heigl’s only appeal is in TV land, and marginally at that. She was supposed to be one of the cornerstones of Grey’s anatomy and the show is still there. She wouldn’t be able to pull off any kind of show on her own, much less a movie.
She’s not the next Julia Roberts, she’s the next Julia Stiles.
Lord. Can someone just tell Heigl that her real calling is shampoo commercials and be done with it? She is the exact same in everything she does, and it’s largely terrible. But if she wants to wave her hair and tell me about jo-blow shampoo, it would at least be believable.
Why the hate? I haven’t seen all her films, but the couple I’ve seen, I liked…especially 27 Dresses.
She said Knocked Up was sexist! >:(
Knocked up WAS sexist, funny though…
The original book is great, but this was always going to be hard to turn into a movie because the characters are slightly cartoonish. It could have been done, but they’d have needed to get the casting spot on, and it was clear from the outset that KH was the wrong choice.
The book series is hilarious. Yes, with the right casting and screen play the movie would have been fantastic. I voted for Lauren Graham! I should have been a casting director…can no one cast movies according to the books that people are fanatically in love with???
Considering how slobberingly hungry studios are for The Next Big Franchise…LG’s mishandling of this property is beyond astounding. Just look at the sales figures for Evanovich’s books in this series…with the right creative team and right actress (not the woefully miscast Heigl)…they might have had themselves a kind of fast, funny female Bond/rom-com series that could have lasted through at least half a dozen films or more. And now look what they’ve ended up with….a fire-sale abortion condemned to the dead-of-winter dumping ground reserved for films that barely avoided direct-to-dvd. Sad…and a huge blown opportunity for the kind of potential cash cow that the suits can only wet-dream about.
The Heigl ride was fun while it lasted. For herself that is, and maybe her inept team of hangers-on at Paradigm who never once guided her right and kept cashing the checks. For the rest of us the experience of being subjected to this litany of cynical, cash-clawing godawful movies over three years was the equivalent of cinematic water boarding. Good riddance.
I am a huge fan of this series & was beyond devastated when I found out KH is playing Stephanie. I beg you to recast!!!
Amen to that sister!
Whether deadline readers like Heigl or not, at the moment most of her movies make money. She’s bankable…most of the time. The main issue is longer term: it’s become obvious that she has no real range as an actress, so a Julia Roberts/Sandra Bullock-type move into Oscar-caliber roles is not in store. In a couple of years (maybe sooner if most people commenting here get their wish) audiences will tire of her generic rom-coms and a swift move back into TV will follow, if she’s smart. If not, she’ll embarrass herself with a hopelessly miscast dramatic role in some future turkey, THEN move back into TV. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her ditch acting altogether for a View-type role when the hits dry up. On some level, Heigl must know this, which is why she’s making hay while the sun shines. Can you blame her?
Jan. releease means it’s a bomb. They don’t have any faith in you Katie, Kathy, whatever your name is.
I tried to read the book once that a friend had a copy of. Even the book is an abortion of a read. Kudos to Evanovich for making a fortune out of writing pure shit.
Was never going to make a good film unless they went for outright comedy. And they didn’t.
Obviously you should not comment if you haven’t read the series. Why are you even commenting on here? I guess you are a closet fan but like to be negative.
Heigl is a hard on killer with a “that bitch at the Office” kind of quality that females can relate to.
Did they just digitally insert Heigl into Jennfier Aniston’s part in last year’s bomb “The Bounty Hunter”? Don’t tell me Gerard Butler is also in this new one as well?
