Saturday Night Live alumna Maya Rudolph is reuniting with her former SNL boss Lorne Michaels, ex-SNL writer Emily Spivey and NBC on Spivey’s comedy pilot for the peacock network, which Michaels is executive producing.
Word is Rudolph is set for the co-lead opposite Christina Applegate in the untitled project, an irreverent look at parenthood through the POV of an acerbic working mother (Applegate) -– who never thought she’d be a mom -– along with her stay-at-home husband and opinionated parents. Rudolph, who was approached for several pilots this season, will play her co-worker and best friend. Rudolph, who spent a decade on SNL, will next be seen starring opposite her former SNL cohort Kristen Wiig in the Universal comedy Bridesmaids, which opens May 13. The actress, repped by WME and 3 Arts, recently wrapped production on Friends with Kids.

She is someone that tries to act funny, not sure how natural she’s ever come across on camera.
She came across as natural in “Away We Go.” In fact, I think she was great in it.
Well, there’s no accounting for taste, but Bill Murray and a lot of others (including myself) think Maya Rudolph is one of the most talented actors on the planet. So we shall see!
Yay!
Love HER!
Finally get to see Minnie’s little girl display her multitude of talent!
Booooooo, looks as if she’ll just be a “sidekick” type character, at least, that’s how I think it will end up turning out.
Glad to see Maya doing more work, she’s a really good actress
Glad to see Maya land a regular gig; however, she’s much too funny and talented to just be the sidekick on someone else’s show.
Great for Maya she is awesome. “Sidekicks” don’t always stay “on the side”. Think about “Will & Grace” as the years go by that show will mostly be remembered for “Jack & Karen”
Well she does have two children and third one on the way, maybe she wanted a sidekick (smaller) role.
She and Christina Applegate are great.
Best wishes to both of them.
FINALLY A BUZZWORTHY PILOT.
and Maya Rudolph is such an underrated actress.
I don’t understand why this Maya creature continues to get work as she’s hideous to look at and for that reason alone I refuse to watch this. Then again the ridiculously overacting Christina Applegate (why must all supporting players in a sitcom suddenly overact terribly once they become the leads?) is reason enough to no watch it as well. Two for two. Stick a fork in it.
