Actor Michael Rosenbaum, who recurs on Fox’s upcoming comedy series Breaking In, is expanding his relationship with the network. The former Smallville star, who has been pursuing writing for the past couple of years, has received a blind script commitment from the network in a joint deal with 20th Century Fox TV. A year ago, Rosenbaum set up single-camera comedy Saved by Zeroes at Syfy. The project, from Sony and Happy Madison, the companies behind Breaking In, was created by and written by Rosenbaum, who was also attached to star. Based on his personal experiences, it revolved around two friends (Rosenbaum, Jonathan Silverman), former actors on a science fiction show. Rosenbaum next reprises his breakout role as Lex Luthor in the series finale of Smallville in May.

Incredibly funny, and an incredible actor to boot. His turn as Lex Luthor proved to be the greatest live-action incarnation of the character to date.
one of the most underrated comedians in the business.
I just love Smallville & Michael Rosenbaum. I will watch anything of his, I hope Tom Welling makes an appearance too!
cool i love that guy, wish him the best!
I love Michael, he deserves the best of the best! He’s an absolutely amazing actor who played an epic character on a fantastic show (Smallville). I wish him nothing but the best and don’t have enough praise for him! Can’t wait to see him in Smallville’s finale =)
Who reps that guy??
So is the series he’s writing for Fox the SyFy series? Is it moving or is this something altogether different? The article doesn’t make it clear; I am taking it that it’s something different, but I really like the “Saved By Zeroes” premise.
They don’t get much funnier/more handsome than Rosenbaum.
I hope Lex keeps his hair in the Smallville finale. He looks good.
Is it just me, or does it seem like Rosenbaum is writing the comments here under fake names? I remain in the camp that really dislikes the way he had to be begged and bribed to return to the show that gave this guy his career, period. Other sites have reported that he held the show ransom for so much cash, another actor surrendered his check just so the finale wouldn’t suffer any cutbacks.
Yeah, there’s a true hero…and a real villain…in Smallville. You can certainly guess which is which.
@Jason
Well it so easy to point out on someone, but instead of rumors, could you give us proofs of what you are saying, coz so far I’ve heard/read only gossips and rumors.
You are saying that other sites are reporting that he held the show ransom, are these official website, of just fan based website, coz it’s known that unofficial website, only repost news from other official website and when they have none, they post their opinions and speculations.
You also said that there is an actor who surrendered his check just so the finale wouldn’t suffer. Could you give us his name, and an official statement he posted maybe on his official twitter/faccebook page.
Once again I recommend you all to be really careful when you read such articles/comments, most of the time they are not true.
In addition, and even if what you’re saying is true (I’m not saying I believe that it’s true, coz I don’t), don’t forget that all of that is pure business, and Michael is in his total right to ask for money, and as much as he can get, it’s Hollywood don’t forget that, and if you can’t be smarter than the others then you’ll get vanished like those you have already forgot.
And one more thing, Michael doesn’t owe anything to anyone. Those who watched that series may have boosted him to the top, but let’s not hide the truth, fans would never have boosted him, if he wasn’t talented and had a very unique skill for acting, so if he has to owe something to someone, he’ll have to owe it to himself and himself only… You make your own future and it’s not the others who make it for you.
While Rosenbaum was acting on the critically reviled SMALLVILLE, he was also doing voicework on the critically-praised JUSTICE LEAGUE cartoon- and has made no secret about which show he thought was better written. It’s absurd to think he should have some special loyalty to a program he really doesn’t like.
Rosenbaum does 10 SMALLVILLE CONVENTIONS a year. Hard to say he doesn’t like it or isn’t loyal to it. Ridiculous claim. As are these unsourced, dubious rumors of excessive salary demands. People need to stop listening to specious rumor and pay attention to actual actions.
What gives with Smallville? Two new episodes in Dec. and 3 or 4 since Jan 1st. Does it have a 22-episode order?
Yes. It is the patented CW genius schedule they do will all their shows. Long hiatuses, to kill momentum and allow audiences to drift, punctuated by the random new episode and no advertising. This has unsurprisingly lead to catastrophic ratings collapse of the entire CW lineup. Dawn Ostroff, worst network president ever.
AWESOME. I think that Michael is a great Actor. I am sure that his writing abilities are just as good. Who knows, he may turn out to be the next James bond!
Jason
Have you ever spend years having your head shaved every day? And he had to be shaved everyday he was doing the part. And for the scenes when he had his shirt off he had to have chest and arm hair removed.
The man is a joy in person and has talked about the prep for the Lex Luthor part. He stated on more than one occassion they would have to pay him big to do it again. And why shouldn’t he get all he can? Can you say you wouldn’t ask for all you could get if given the chance? I doubt seriously that anyone had to give up a paycheck for him.
His apperance on the finale will draw boatloads of people and the CW wants all the numbers it can get. Plus Tom Welling made it really clear he wanted MR back before the end of the series.
So quit spouting rumors about a wonderful person.
Hoping there’d be an article about the SMALLVILLE FINALE.
As a comic book and graphic novel fan, movie fan and all around nerd and storyteller fan; this is the night a truly great American myth ends.
Everyone from Tom to Michael; the producers, cast and writers for over 10 years really and truly gave this series the bets they could. We’re talking about before SUPERMAN become SUPERMAN folks.
That’s not a hat trick anyone can pull off. And they did. And more than that.
They did it with a lot of love and respect for SUPERMAN.
I know there have been naysayers about this series, etc.
I don’t give a flying F.
There wouldn’t be SUPERMAN if it wasn’t for a little, Midwestern, All American town called SMALLVILLE.
Go on and fly Clark! You’ve earned it.
