NBC today announced a summer schedule featuring the return of summer staple America’s Got Talent, the second season of Jerry Seinfeld’s The Marriage Ref, originally slated for midseason, as well as three new reality series: It’s Worth What? hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, Still Standing and Love in the Wild. The sixth season of Talent will premiere May 31, while The Marriage Ref, which will now have the featured couples in the studio, will debut June 26.
Additionally, NBC’s midseason competition series The Voice, which premieres April 26, will air through June, and Law & Order: Los Angeles, which returns with originals April 11, will also continue into June. NBC also will broadcast the final season premiere of the USA (and former NBC) series Law & Order: Criminal Intent. And the last season of another former NBC series, Friday Night Lights, will also continue airing Fridays well into the summer. “We want to make it clear that NBC considers the summer as an important part of its overall season and will continue to offer a varied lineup of original programs,” NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said. Here are description of NBC’s new summer series, whose premiere dates are TBD:
It’s Worth What? is a game show that taps into America’s love for cost and value, such as the hidden gems found in one’s attic. A pair of contestants are taken through a series of challenges that escalate in level of difficulty. As a result, they are tasked with discerning the price of the items in each round. If they successfully complete the challenges, contestants can win up to $1 million. It’s Worth What? is produced by Merv Griffin Entertainment. The series is created and executive produced by Lara Spencer (The Insider) and Roy Bank. Host Cedric “The Entertainer,” Barry Poznick, John Stevens and Ron Ward also serve as executive producers.
Still Standing is a game show designed to keep contestants and viewers on their toes. The new competitive series is based on the hit Israeli series of the same title, which offers contestants the chance to win by outguessing 10 opponents in 10 fast-paced and dramatic trivia battles. At the start of the game, each player stands behind a coin whose value ranges between $1 and $50,000. The value of the coin is hidden from the players, however, and will not be revealed until one of them loses and drops out of the game –- literally -– through the trapdoor in the studio floor on which he or she is standing. Still Standing is a Universal Media Studios production in association with Armoza Formats. Craig Plestis and Tim Puntilllo serve as executive producers.
Love in the Wild is a dating series that will put relationships to the ultimate test. It will follow 10 single men and 10 single women as they head deep into the remote jungles of Costa Rica, paddle down crocodile-infested waters, navigate through bat-infested caves and hang 200 feet above the rain forest floor as they descend down one of the most majestic waterfalls all in the hope of finding that special someone. At the end of every episode, two heartbroken singles will be sent home. The series will culminate with one couple left standing. The series is produced by Endemol USA. Tom Shelly serves as executive producer. Liz Shulze, Eric Gardner and Mark Allen are co-executive producers.

Wow. That’s a lot of stuff that I won’t be watching because none of it interests me.
B…b…but Friday Night Lights is so goooooooooooood…
why would they make another season of that crappy show the marriage ref? that first hour i saw of the premiere might have been the worst hour of tv i have ever seen in my life. i get that they want to kiss jerry seinfeld’s butt but come on, help him develop something else, not this drivel.
They don’t have anything else…as evidenced by this less than inspiring line up.
Jerry gets celebs that they can promote…and it’s cheap.
What about “Love Bites’ and “Friends with Benefits?”
And “The Untitled Paul Reiser Show.”
Does this mean Love Bites is never going to air?
I think Greenblatt meant to say “un-original original programs.” Antiques Roadshow – the Gameshow? Seriously? The trapdoor gimmick from Russian Roulette? When a broadcast net is ripping off PBS and GSN, it’s time to head for the lifeboats.
The peacock’s been plucked.
So we see what Comcast is doing to NBC…making a broadcast network like a cable channel. Nothing of interest here, so it is anything else including books for the summer and possibly beyond…
Yeh,and where is Paul Riser’s show?
‘Still Standing’ sounds like a blend of ‘Deal or No Deal’ + ’101 ways to leave a gameshow’ while ‘Love in the World’ is some sort of “I’m A Celeb get me out of here”.
Can NBC please air ‘Love Bites’! It can’t be that terrible, can it?
Actually, “Still Standing” sounds like a retread of the old GSN show “Russian Roulette.”
What about the last 5 episodes of Chase and The Paul Reiser show? You mean there are no timeslots left for them?
I’m not sure it is a good idea for one of the new game shows NBC has scheduled for the summer to be called “Still Standing” (even if it fits the format), given the fact that a 2002-2006 CBS sitcom that still airs in reruns today (on ABC Family) also has that title. That could confuse some people who have seen that show.
These are all reality shows! What the frack! Don’t we get enough reality shows already?! They have to show that crap in the summer too?! Geez, give life a rest, NBC!
The Marriage ref was, is, and will continue to be terrible. I watched a few episodes hoping that it was worth the hype, and of course because Seinfeld was responsible for it. It’s that guy leeching off other jokes, and that’s probably the worst part about it I guess. New host, and more Seinfeld on camera.
That sure sounds like a summer chock full of fertilizer….
What about persons unknown??????
