On the heels of its early renewal, Fox’s Fringe (1.5 rating in 18-49) rebounded last night, up 15% from last week’s series low. (It’s probably easier to commit your time to a show you know will be back next year.) Kitchen Nightmares (1.5) was down a tenth.
ABC’s Shark Tank opened its second season with a 1.2/4 and 4.8 million viewers, finishing fourth in the demo in the 8 PM hour. The reality series still scored ABC’s best numbers in the time slot in two months (18-49) and four months (total viewers) and outdrew its own Friday performances last year in the 9 PM slot. CBS is expected to win the night with NCAA basketball, though reliable numbers for its live coverage won’t be available until Monday.

Fringe renewal combined with the ratings bump makes for a good day!
Read the blogs (not just this one)….this is one of the best shows on TV and John Noble has a massive following for his alternatively heartbreaking and hilarious potrayal of Walter Bishop (and Walternate). This is a brilliantly written show and when the writers are on they are ON!
Not only are there loyal viewers watching live, there’s a plethora of us that DVR it, and even more no doubt that watch the show the following day on Fox.com or HULU.
If you’re looking for an intelligent, brilliantly acted ensemble piece then you really shouldn’t look any further than Fringe. And why John Noble doesn’t have an Emmy is a travesty and just goes to show how messed up the voting is.
Love this show, love the writing, the acting, the premise – all of it!
AND not only is the acting superb it’s done by people who actually have earned and are proud of the lines on their faces. Love the fact that the more ‘mature’ actors haven’t botoxed or lifted their faces into oblivion – whomever is casting this, please keep on! It is a treat to see REAL faces capable of showing emotion and laughter instead of the smooth, blank, tightened typical Hollywood freeze frame so many actors resort to. Sooooo sad.
THANK YOU Fox for renewing, Thank you everyone involved with Fringe! You’re a class act all the way.
We can probably thank some of the FOX execs who seem to be fans of the show personally, otherwise it probably would’ve have gone away a long time ago.
Fringe is brilliant. Noble definitely deserves an Emmy, as does Torv(who’s grown up on this show). Hell even Joshua Jackson is good although he still seems too young to drive. The writing is brilliant, I can’t say enough about how thrilled I am FOX finally didn’t cancel a show I loved. Thank you, FOX. Thank WB for lowering your licensing fees and noticing that the TV world has changed.
Amen!
