Gwyneth Paltrow returned to Glee last night, and the Fox dramedy (4.6/14 in adults 18-49, 12 million viewers) went up 5% in the ratings from its most recent original 2 weeks ago. After finishing tied for first place in 18-49 with CBS’ NCIS for the first time on Jan. 22, Glee returned to its status of sole demo winner on Tuesday night, with CBS’ lineup in repeats. Both Fox live-action comedies got extra sampling behind American Idol last week. That seems to have helped Raising Hope (2.8/8), which was up 17% from its last original 2 weeks ago. However, with the post-Idol exposure and a higher Raising Hope as lead-in, Traffic Light (1.5/4) was down 6% from its last original on Jan. 22, a pretty ominous sign for the midseason comedy. Fox (3.4/10, 8.6 million), the only network to air all-new programming last night, won Tuesday in 18-49, while CBS’ all-repeat lineup (2.1/6, 11.7 million) was No.1 in total viewers.
After taking a ratings hit from facing American Idol last week, NBC’s reality veteran The Biggest Loser (2.9/8) rebounded nicely, up 21%. (Parenthood was a repeat.) Following a No Ordinary Family repeat, ABC’s V (1.7/5) was down a tenth (6%) from last week to tie its series low. Detroit 1-8-7 (1.1/3), whose days are clearly numbered, was down 8% from its last telecast 3 weeks ago after getting pre-empted for the Charlie Sheen 20/20 special last week.

Hopefully V will see an uptick next Tuesday for it’s season 2 finale. 3 characters perish and it’ll end on a cliffhanger. I’ll be pissed if it’s not renewed. V isn’t a perfect show by any means but it is a very enjoyable show.
I find Gwyneth, and her Mary Sue character on Glee, intolerable.
She. Is. The. Worst.
Great news for “Raising Hope” – it delivers the heart without the sap.
Last night’s episode of Glee was almost unwatchable. If NCIS had been a new episode, I would not have even been there to watch the train wreck. It is a shame how awful that show has been allowed to become.
Traffic Light is trying too hard to be uber hip and cool, but ultimatley comes off as flat and unfunny – It’s demise is near.
Same with Detroit 187, where Mike Imperioli sleep walks through every episode with a look of why am I even here? Look on his face. I was hoping better for this show, but the writing has just never delivered. Southland rules the cop show landscape!
Tried watching a full episode of Glee, but God was it is bad in creepy weird way.
Gwyneth was the bait to get eyes and ears on an episode with a very clear agenda. Thanks, Gwyneth, for the favor. Ryan Murphy owes you one.
Paltrow is a barf bag. Go away! Traffic Light rocks. Stay! Great actors, writing. Of course it won’t survive
Tuesday’s Detroit 1-8-7 rocked. Everything from drama, humor, love, sex, double crosses and a killer ending. Writing/acting is in a league of its own — not the fluff we see in some of the other vapid cop shows.
Hope Detroit 1-8-7 makes it into a second year and gets some promo support from ABC, instead of being preempted in its time slot. It has a small, but avid following and deserves a better shot — akin to NYPD and Hillstreet Blues.
