Scott Foley, Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Boatman are set to co-star opposite Christine Lahti in CBS’ medical-family drama pilot The Doctor. Written by Privileged creator Rina Mimoun and directed by David Nutter, the project, from Warner Bros. TV, centers on Emily (Lahti) a mother who reconnects with her two adult children – son David (Foley) and daughter Natasha (Eva Amurri) when she joins the family medical practice after the
death of her husband Ben. Emily is taking over Ben’s third of the practice, which he ran with his friend Jason (MacLachlan), a sympathetic pediatrician who has always harbored feelings for Emily, and David. Spin City alum Boatman will play the chief of staff at the hospital where Emily is doing her residency who becomes her mentor. Both Foley, repped by Paradigm, and MacLachlan, repped by Gersh and Management 360, recently did stints on hit ABC series: Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, respectively.

Great casting. Really excited. I would let this crew run a train on me anytime! Heard Boatman also tested for the role of Blake Dongman in the LOGJAMERS pilot.
Love Michael Boatman as Eriq LaSalle
Good casting but the premise seems a little weak
This is a hell of a cast! Plus Nutter & Mimoun. Strong possibility this will be the best pilot of the year.
What is going on with Kyle MacLachlan’s hair in that picture???
Upstaging Alec Baldwin’s hair.
How does Foley still get jobs? He is as vanilla as they come and would have trouble getting cast in a high school production if it weren’t for his descent looks but truly people… is there not anyone else????
Hope Kyle MacLachlan gets something to do on this show unlike all but his first season on Desperate Housewives. He’s the only reason I’m mildly interested in this new show.
I actually like Foley, but I feel it’s implausible that he’s Christine Lahti’s son… yet another middle aged actress who had her character’s kids at the age of 18? Okay. Kyle M is one of the nice guys in this business, and he’s best at not being the central character.
Mimoun is a really good writer, but I felt this script was a little bland – not as good as that Margaret Nagle family of doctors one that CBS shot a couple of years ago.
Where’s the picture of Christine Lahti?
What, no Showgirls 2?
This show is like “The Eastmans” but not as good. Why is the black person always cast as head of (fill in the blank) on CBS?
I like Foley as well. Pretty might get you a job but talent keeps working…and working. Great additions.
The article reads as if Emily is already a doctor and would be stepping in to take over a third of the family practice, yet she still has to do her residency?….A little confusing. I guess if the pilot gets picked up, Michael Boatman will be written off of The Good Wife, which when last seen, had sided with Will on the qt dl…Oh well, In Hollywood, anything is possible!
Foley is sexaay
