Will Forte has booked his first full-time TV gig since leaving Saturday Night Live last summer, joining Fox’s upcoming animated series Allen Gregory as a regular voice cast member. On the show, about an accomplished 7-year-old boy embarking on elementary school, Forte will voice characters alongside co-creator/executive producer Jonah Hill and French Stewart. Forte has had a frequent presence on Fox’s animated comedy block. He has voiced recurring characters on American Dad! and The Cleveland Show and was a regular on Sit Down Shut Up.
On the feature side, Forte has signed on to star in Run and Jump. The indie, from Samson Films (Once), was written by Ailbhe Keogan and Steph Green, with Green directing. It was developed by the Irish Film Board and the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, with Tamara Anghie producing. Maxine Peake, Brian F. O’Byrne and Sharon Horgan have also been cast in the movie, which will be filmed on location in Ireland in May.
Additionally, Forte recently boarded Tim And Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, which just landed financing from Mark Cuban’s 2929 Prods. Forte, repped by UTA and Mosaic, last year headlined his first movie, MacGruber, an extension of his SNL skits.

Does anyone like this guy?
I like him, and I’ll go to my grave defending MacGruber as a work of misunderstood genius.
I like him. He seems nice and I’d like for him to do well, but he doesn’t blow me away. I think he’s a comedy workhorse: he gets in and does his job, but he doesn’t, for lack of a better word, sparkle.
Love him actually!
Please go back and save SNL, Will!
We’ll still watch your movies too.
“Does anyone like this guy?”
Seriously, be more miserable. So typical of the internet. I guarantee you cry yourself to sleep at least once a week.
Forte is a great dude. Pulling for him.
Forte pretty much destroyed Book Of Leo, one of my favorite scripts at Universal, when he was hired to do a rewrite on it. McGruber & The Solomon Brothers were God awful. I didn’t even like him on 30 Rock as the Jenna impersonator and I love that show.
Will Forte is one of the classiest guys working. One of those people you just want to root for.
Plus the guy is damn funny. He wrote for That 70s Show before a great run on SNL.
Uh, I think a lot of people like him. He’s talented and nice to work with. Not a big fan of McGruber, but curious to see what he’ll do next.
MacGruber was hands down the funniest film of last year. With the right project, this guy could be huge. He kills on 30 Rock.
Forte is one of the nicest guys out there, and one of the funniest. I’m always happy to see good guys succeed.
Before Sit Down Shut Up and the Cleveland Show (and even before SNL), he was the lead voice on the cult classic Clone High. Funniest cartoon ever, but before its time… it would fit in on Fox today.
And I agree with the posters above who defend MacGruber. Misunderstood classic.
When are we getting the “Clone High” movie???
I love him. He’s just…I dunno…he just comes off so kind and genuine in interviews and the whatnot. He really enjoys what he does, and really listens to people when they compliment his work–he really does appreciate it. This film that he’s signed on for–it’s a drama. I don’t think he’s done drama before. So, I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do!
Yay for the Black Swan!
I guess the only good news to come out of this is that he won’t be returning to 30 Rock… or HIMYM… or Parks and Recreation. Or ANY SHOW I WATCH!!! Good riddance!
I may be in the minority but I think he’s hilarious as Ted Turner on Conan!
I feel like he’s one of those guys that everyone likes, but no one hates, no one loves, no on feels passionate about in any way.
Damn, what’s up people?!?!? I remember the stick figure cartoon sample of his comedy writing back when he was a baby writer. It was the fucnniest thing in the library. This was what 1997? That my friends is a funny man.
ONE.
Hard.
Working.
Funny.
Guy
And every bit as subversvie as Zach Galifianakis, with Jim Carrey good looks. So yeah, this guy is one THE MASK away from really hitting it. Either he does a BEING THERE or a THE MASK, each will define his career if they work AND connect with audiences.
A tricky proposition, but, then, fuck it, there’s always an ensemble tv show, right?
Don’t go hating on a legit funny guy who is by any measure a success compared to the masses walking the earth. Not saying he’s Ghandhi, but, please people shut the fuck up.
.
one of the nicest guys in hollywood. a true professional and a real sweetheart.
snl shoulda given forte one more season. its kinda crappy how macgruber bombed big time and then snl cut him. give him one more season. let him leave snl with some pride. macgruber is an snl prperty, anyway.
snl did not cut will forte.
he himself chose to leave and everyone there from lorne to cast would confirm that.
and macgruber needs to be seen. most people who talk poorly about it never actually watched it. it is beyond brilliant.
Funny, funny guy. Glad he’s working again.
I have known Will since he was a baby. A GREAT guy who always had a wonderful sense of humor ever since he could walk. He has done so well and we are all so proud of him. I miss him on SNL but look forward to all that lies ahead for him . He is the nicest guy in Hollywood. Good LucK Will and we loved McGruher
I think he’s a comedic genius. He brings so much life to every project he’s involved in. He and Jason sudekis made a great team on snl, as Jon bovi.
