I’m hearing that Chernin Entertainment is close to a deal for Meet the New Boss, a spec script by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka that has James Bobin circling as potential director. deal is low against high six figures and Chernin is making it through his discretionary fund. The comedy revolves around an employee of Capital Properties who goes from one jerk of a boss to another, and the new supervisor is even worse because it’s a robot. The scribes last sold The Sitter, the David Gordon Green-directed Fox comedy that stars Jonah Hill. Bobin just directed The Muppets. The scribes are repped by UTA and Industry, CAA reps Bobin.

Meet the New Boss should be called STFU & GBTW.
These guys are two of the funniest and most versatile writers in town.
after a long week of dealing with my asshole boss i wanna pay $12 to watch someone dealing with their asshole boss on the big screen
A ROBOT BOSS?!?! THAT IS SO DAMN FUNNY!!!
It’s like The Office only with a robot boss!!!
This is why Chernin is so successful he has his finger on the pulse of the whole wide world. Robot bosses are the wave of the future. He spent his own money for this script he used his discretionary fund that means he knows it’s going to be a hit comedy. The rest of you idiots need to start learnin’ from Chernin.
And he reprograms the robot to be his friend and bodyguard?
My God, no bitterness here then….
Why don’t you go back to staring out the window of whatever Starbucks you’re in, wearing an expression intended to convey that you’re writing your own genius screenplay?
Yes, only aspiring screenwriters can think “robot boss” is a ridiculous idea. Of course that’s how it works. Anything anyone is ever critical of has to be because they’re a failure. It can’t be BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE A STUPID IDEA.
Not bitter – discerning about how I spend my movie money.
The writers’ mothers really shouldn’t post here.
