Eric McCormack seems headed back to TNT’s primetime. Word is that TNT is closing in on a series order for the drama pilot Perception starring the Will & Grace alum. The project, from ABC Studios, centers on Dr. Geoffrey Pierce (McCormack), an eccentric, frequently erratic and brilliant university professor in neuropsychiatry who helps the FBI solve complex cases working with sexy, sharp-tongued and smart FBI agent (and his former student) Kate Rossi (Rachael Leigh Cook). Kenneth Biller and Mike Sussman co-wrote the pilot, which was directed by Alan Poul. Perception is one of four pilots ordered by TNT last fall along with Dallas, Bird Dog and an untitled project from Allan Loeb. It was the first one to cast its lead. McCormack previously starred in TNT’s ad-agency drama Trust Me. Meanwhile, TNT is close to renewing cop drama Southland for a fourth season.

I’ve never posted to this site, but, for some reason, this particular news about this particular series got me depressed enough to finally post the following message:
TNT — Go Fuck Yourself.
Yeah I think I prefer the original rsion, called wire in the blood, the uk series that really took the genre to dark places, but was intense and well-acted. Guess originality is overrated, especially the idea of 5th nothing Rachel Leigh Cook as any type of cop.
Didn’t Redford have a pilot order at TNT? Or is he just another trophy film guy TNT has for their press releases? I swear i read about it on DH and saw the breakdown but maybe it was for midseason.

And on top of that, he’s paired with a female FBI agent who’s half his age AND who’s sexy AND sharp-tongued???
Holy sweet mary this is the most original thing I’ve ever heard! Wait, are you telling me that the chick who’s an FBI agent is not only sexy and smart tongued, but on top of all that she’s also smart??? AMAZING!!! See, most writers would have made the sharp-tongued and sexy FBI agent kind of dumb. But not the guys at TNT! They made her smart!

Wait, scratch that. Agent Rossi is not sexy and smart and sharp-tongued, she’s “smart-tonged.” Maybe she cut herself making a salad or something….
