Visitors at the Beverly Glen Deli in Los Angeles today were surprised when an FBI agent walked in and handcuffed a patron eating lunch there. Turns out it was White Collar star Tim DeKay in an FBI uniform fake arresting The Shield and The Chicago Code creator Shawn Ryan assisted by the show’s writers PA Chris Masi, also in FBI gear. It was part of an ongoing Twitter war between Ryan and White Collar creator Jeff Eastin. The two started trading insults via the micro-blogging service early this year, with the feud moving to another level on Super Bowl Sunday when Ryan broke into Eastin’s office and took a picture of himself at Eastin’s desk (photo on left). During White Collar‘s panel at the
PaleyFest last night, Eastin alluded to a big practical joke against Ryan coming in retaliation for the break-in. As for today’s arrest, “most of the restaurant thought it was real,” one witness said. “It was funny.” According to onlookers, Ryan was having lunch with David Madden, who probably served as bait as he is president of Fox TV Studios, the company that produced The Shield and is also producing White Collar. The writers for the USA series greeted Ryan outside the restaurant, and they also brought along TMZ cameras to commemorate the event. BTW, the Twitter revelry between Ryan and Eastin is for charity. Here is cell phone video of the incident taken by a visitor.

Pretty funny. However, i thought impersonating a federal agent, is a felony. Game continues.
A little more Tim and a little TMZ and their backs would be nice. Oh, and if it is true about impersonating an FBI agent is true, Mr. Eastin best protect one of his best assets, Tim DeKay.
this is too funny! I love it!
I think the PA is going to go to jail for impersonating an FBI agent. Can’t really do that in a public place, even if everyone is in on the joke. Stupid way to get a young PA arrested.
Something also to point out–the twitter war is for charity.
It’s not really impersonating a federal agent when the person to whom you’re presenting yourself knows it’s fake. The other patrons may not have known it wasn’t real, but Shawn Ryan I imagine was not fooled by the recognizable Tim DeKay.
There is an arrest coming. You cannot do that in public. Practical joke turns real. A guy has a heart attack.
You should be arrested for impersonating someone with a personality. Get a life.
Maybe these comic geniuses should focus on making their middling shows more entertaining.
Relax, people. Half of the “patrons” in the video were either with Shawn or in on the joke.
Jesus. God forbid people have fun. White Collar has FBI consultants out the ass, and the person “arrested” was also in on the joke. Just… stop ruining fun, okay?
Or maybe go read about Egypt and Libya if you want to be so damn serious all the time.
These commenters are wound entirely too tight… I once held a Top Secret Clearance and I think this ish is HILARIOUS.
felony impersonation, blah blah blah
This is about savoring the escalating and eventual retaliation.
Because unless Ryan is a wuss and just takes it there will be payback.
I don’t understand. Why is Tom Colicchio being arrested by the FBI?
Heaven forbid people have fun with a harmless stunt while promoting a charity. The grumpy posters in this thread need to lighten up.
But where was Neal? Peter cant take a crap on the show without Neal by his side!
So THIS is why “White Collar” can be a very dull show. I see.
Arresting for impersonating????? In Hollywood?? On this board of all places???
It was a joke. Get a friggin’ life. Hope your won scripts are better than these
comments about FBI impersonators.
Very funny. Kind of reminds me of the faux-feud between Jack Benny and Fred Allen. Good stuff!
“Nothing to see here, folks, just Shawn Ryan being arrested.” – LOL!
This just made my life
