NEW YORK, NY (March 25, 2011) — The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced today a new initiative in the video game space by launching TWC Games. The TWC Games label will utilize The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films’ strong and recognizable properties, and work with external partners to develop and publish video games for mobile, social, and console platforms. Properties in The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films catalogue include SCREAM, HELLRAISER, HALLOWEEN, SCARY MOVIE, and CHILDREN OF THE CORN, among many others.
TWC CO-CHAIRMAN BOB WEINSTEIN EXPRESSED EXCITEMENT ABOUT THE NEW INITIATIVE. “The video game marketplace is changing at such a rapid rate. With all of the digital platforms, there are so many opportunities to broaden our audience with compelling, high quality, cost-efficient, video game entertainment.”

The King’s Speech as ego shooter perhaps?
I would love to play a Halloween based game.
So much for that renewed focus on film
Makes zero sense. A commitment to an A-level game is just that – a commitment. You need guys that get that world – not film guys who want to make a quick buck off of what they think is recognizable IP.
Can there be a Super Weinstein Bros. game where Harvey and Bob run around doing stupid things like Super Mario Bros.? I’d play that game.
Great idea, that is their best IP! Or maybe The Legend of Link’s Speech: Ocarina of Stuttering?
Maybe next, they’ll open up a magazine publication and hire a well received editor in chief.
“compelling, high quality, cost-efficient”
Which description doesn’t belong here?
Obviously these guys are simply opening up their properties to license to other folks.
Because the Weinstein Company has no understanding of how to develop a game anymore than a developer understands how to make a movie.
As long as they don’t make original games, I guess.
I love to play these kind of games.
