EXCLUSIVE: Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay are back at work on Season 3 of USA Network’s series White Collar, both with nice pay raises.
I hear that the two actors renegotiated separately their deals with White Collar producer Fox TV Studios, each receiving a significant salary bump in return for adding an extra year to their current contracts for the show. Bomer and DeKay’s new paychecks are said to be in the $80,000-$100,000 per episode range, with Bomer, who plays the show’s central character, con man Neal Caffrey, getting slightly more. The two actors’ previous salaries were in the $50,000s per episode range.
Renegotiating actors’ deals for higher compensation in exchange for an additional year to their contracts is common practice after the second season of successful series.

Good for them, I guess. I dig the show, but man… if they cram another Ford product placement into an episode, I’m gonna puke.
It’s been kinda funny watching the last season and a half or so – they’ve had soooo many Superman references. Sorta makes me sad Bomer didn’t get the role.
“if they cram another Ford product placement into an episode, I’m gonna puke” — you know that is how the show is making money and that is how they can keep this show on this production level. So what if they do that?… Are you aware that The X Files had a similar deal with Ford and that all the cars and trucks shown in the show were Ford as well? I’m cool with it.
As did “24″.
Seriously. I mean, yeah…every once in awhile it’s forced, but in most instances it’s either not at all noticeable or it’s done in a cute, self referential, wink and nod way. It pays the bills and it keeps a fun show on the air, so I really don’t care. Unless it’s interferes with the actual integrity of a show then it’s not an issue.
Matt didn’t get the role for superman but now he’s Neal Cafferey and getting a bigger paycheck. I’m sure he likes that. And if the ads help White Collar with money I don’t care what ads they put on! Without White Collar life would be a bore
nice. they deserve it!
Fabulous! for many more years
I had read Matts original was 100k – they both deserve more. Best pair on the tube.
White Collar is one of the two best shows on TV right now. The other one is Burn Notice, also on USA Network. All other shows on TV are a copy of another show next door and vice versa, nothing good to offer, bad writing and a bunch of computer generated graphics. The bumps in salaries for these two fine actors is very well deserved, best wishes for the two of you.
Also, who can forget Tim DeKay as Jerry Seinfeld’s arch-nemesis Bizarro Jerry? He was awesome in that part too.
It’s one of current TV’s great ironies that cable is eating network TV’s lunch by doing what the nets used to do quite well. And that the nets can’t seem to do this kind of thing right now for beans…
I already thought Matt Bomer was getting $100,000 per episode last year.
i know right? i thought the same.
Did we really need to know Bomer got slightly more? Such a one-uppy thing to say and sort of mean-spirited toward Tim who’s been an outstanding actor for decades.
Not really mean spirited when Bomer is the lead (appearing in practically every scene). It would be stranger if Bomer and DeKay got the same.
Yay! Go them!! They deserve it.
Their show is a lot of fun, and the chemistry of the cast is a major reason why. Good for them, and hopefully the supporting players get rewarded as well.
I agree that the Ford product placements are a bit annoying, but who cares? If it helps keep such a great show on the air, I don’t mind a bit.
They can cram all the Fords they want as long as they keep the show as entertaining and fun as it has been for two seasons.
I am surprised at how little they make (considering that Charlie Sheen was bagging 1.2 million per episode, 100k is not little by any accounts)
That’s the difference between the major networks and basic cable. It’s a shame there’s such disparity. By and large the cable shows are far more creative and the talent is every bit as good as what’s on network TV.
Good point about the salaries. How can a no-talent like Charlie Sheen, who is more notorious for his bad behavior than his talent, command one million dollars plus per episode?
Very nice! These two fine actors deserve it! I think that entire cast works very well together and they all should be paid for what they are worth and then some! Especially the aforementioned, and of course, Dianne Carroll.
These two are far and away the main reason to watch this show, so good for them.
I’ve worked with DeKay before – a true talent. Good for him!
Is Tim as nice a person as he appears in interviews I’ve seen. From what I have seen both he & Matt Bomer are just genuine people. I hope they both do well and White Collar remains on the air for a long time.
As a regular viewer, who loves the show, I’ve never noticed the Ford placement thing. I guess, from now on, I’ll watch for it. I can’t imagine it will bother me, though. It’s a fun show. Love Mozzie, too.
Funny, I’ve never noticed the Ford placements either. I will now pay more attention to the vehicles but hey….I like the show and I like Fords so good for them!
Me either. And I couldn’t care less. It’s my favorite TV show.
The Ford placements do not bother me because as others said it leads to more money for show production and keeping wonderful actors like MB and TD. That said, they have gotten a little more obvious about it. Do you recall the scene toward the end of this season with Diana and Neal driving to save Peter and she was speeding in her ‘green’ car and Neal commented about all the leaves falling off the tree? That scene actually made me LOL and I thought it was amusing that they did make it so obvious what they were doing.
Love this show! Both Tim and Matt are wonderful actors. Hope the show goes on for many years.
this show sucks
Let me guess… an NBC, ABC or CBS employee?
Well, someone is a bit grumpy! It’s your opinion but why share it with the world if it’s not the nicest thing to say? White Collar is AWESOME. That’s my opinion
I love Matt – he IS the show.
Not crazy about Tim and what’s her name, the wife. By now, Matt’s character is so established, the show could go on just fine without them, frankly.
To me, TIM/Peter is the star/main character of the show. I wouldn’t be watching WC if Peter/Tim wasn’t there. Neal/Matt could leave the show – Peter can alwasy get another ex-con CI. I really do like Peter and Neal together and wish TPTB would give them more/all the screen time and cut back with the other characters. Mozzie is ok but he was better as a mysterious background character. Definitely get rid of Sara! Neal can have Alex. And to get back on subject here, Tim deserves to get paid the same amount as Matt. IMHO Tim should get MORE because he is the better actor of the 2. Matt has a pretty face but Tim can ACT!
LOL, Neal/Matt is White Collar. The cast is the best on tv but he is the show.
You’ve got it completely wrong, buddy. Matt is an amazingly talented actor who just happens to be the most gorgeous man working in film/televison/theater today. Sounds like you’ve got a case of Bomer-envy..grow up! Matt as Neal Caffrey IS the show. I sincerely doubt that Tim DeKay as Peter could carry the show by himself. Peter Burke is boring except when Neal Caffrey is pushing his buttons. Neal is the more interesting, nuanced character and Matt is spot-on perfect in the role! He pulls it off with aplomb, makes it look effortless..the hallmark of a fine actor!
So true!
White Collar wouldn’t be White Collar is Neal wasn’t there pushing Peter’s buttons. I don’t think ANYONE could have played Neal Caffrey better than Matt Bomer! He is the best! Not only his good looks (but he is HOT) but he’s a good actor! I’m not saying Tim DeKay isn’t but Matt really tries. Matt is perfect for playing Neal, the handsome and intelligent con man. And Peter can’t just get rid of Neal! That’s kind of stupid…Why would he do that? Neal and Peter have a complicated relationship in the show. Neal can’t just get up and leave. And FYI Matt is the best actor there is and he deserves everything he’s getting. He is the central character on the show. Tim is awesome but Matt is the BEST. Can’t get better than that! And I like Sara Ellis, sure Neal needs to choose someone instead of making out with every girl. I think he should choose Sara because he needs a normal life. Not one full of cons and running away from the FBI. But obviously he can’t get rid of all of his “bad” side; it’s who he is. I wish both of them the best! They deserve a raise with all that they’re doing.
Why this juvenile one upmanship over this? Actually both can act and both are good looking in their own ways. The show is where it is because of BOTH of them. The friendship and ‘bromance’ of the two leads is what has made the show so popular, so no, it would not be as popular if just one of them was the star. As for who pulls off their character better, I think the producers cast both roles absolutely perfectly, as they did the rest of the cast. On top of their talent, what has made the show such a success is that the main leads are so humble and supportive of each other. I think they all know their huge success has been a collaborative effort. As for who gets paid more of the two, talent wise I think they should get paid equal, but honestly, I think MB has more lines and overall scenes, not to mention more promotional stuff he has to do than TD. MB is the ones on all the billboards after all. As a result, I can see him getting slightly more as was reported.
Actually and techically speaking, Matt is the star. He was cast first, his name appears first, etc. Other cast members did chemistry reads with Matt to determine if they would get their respective roles, however not to diminish anyone on this show which has among the best casts on tv. Both guys are phenom in their roles but Neal Caffrey is one of those few characters on TV where no one could imagine anyone else playing the role.
Many landlords are in foreclosure because they are not making mortgage payments. This is a direct violation of their mortgage agreement.
The whole “White Collar”, contract was up for negotiation wasn’t it? This is a show that’s covered by the scumbag union know as AFTRA isn’t it? The AFTRA basic cable shows, like “White Collar” are negotiated on a show-by-show basis.
Did the Guests stars and Co-Stars get a bump? Or do they still get the shaft with “12 exhibition windows” on before they recieve residuals? Actors always got residuals from the first replay, until F-ing AFTRA poached SAG jurisdiction.
Fantastic show and great actors – they deserve the bump. It’s also so refreshing to see two costars who actually seem to really respect and enjoy each other.
Wow, compared to the pathetic network shows and what those actors are paid, these two are a bargain for USA. USA better up the ante,Bomer is a hot property.
Matt Bomer is white hot! He deserves much more than he is being paid right now. He’s a total package…world-class talent, intelligence, refinement and did I forget to mention his world class looks and those crystal blue eyes? He is heavenly!
Ford placements?
Check the credits for the Andy Griffith Show in the 60s. They always drove the “free” Fords.
I love this show! I am very glad to see that not only did the main stars get raises but that it will be continued for another year. I saw Tim & Matt being interviewed a few weeks ago and it seems as if they are buddies in real life too. A definite chemistry between them which makes the show work so well. On this show I like all of the supporting characters on the show too. I don’t miss an episode and if I must it is always on the DBR for future reviewing. Thanks guys for a great show!
Geez, apparently I need both an English lesson and typing or spelling as well if I’m going to post on here. So much for proof reading, sorry guys!
Tim DeKay. Class act. Good to see nice guys finish first.
Matt Bomer…class act! Talent, looks, intelligence and grace. I adore him and wish him him the best!
Tim DeKay. Class act. Good to see nice guys finish first.
I completely agree!
