NBC’s untitled Emily Spivey comedy pilot is building a star-studded cast. Arrested Development alum Will Arnett has closed a deal to join Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph in the project, executive produced by Saturday Night Live honcho Lorne Michaels. The project, written by former SNL scribe Emily Spivey, is described as an irreverent look at parenthood through the POV of an acerbic working mother (Applegate) -– who never thought she’d be a mom -– along with her stay-at-home husband (Arnett) and opinionated parents.
Emmy nominee Arnett, who recently co-created/toplined Fox’s comedy Running Wilde, had planned not to do a pilot this season despite being approached for several projects but liked Spivey’s script. Arnett, repped by WME and Principato-Young, also has a relationship with Michaels as he has been recurring on the Michaels-produced NBC series 30 Rock.

So does this mean Will Arnett is not the new boss on The Office??
There goes my theory that he was going to be the new boss on “The Office.”
I guess that rules him out from replacing Steve Carrell on The Office??
Same thought
Who cares about the office anymore… this pilot is great and the casting is even better
Hope it gets picked up!
Will Ferrell will replace Steve Carell, not Will Arnett
So this means he’ll ruin ANOTHER show by playing the SAME character that he plays in EVERYTHING else?
Can’t wait!
He was totally charmless on “Running Wilde” but that was a bad show from the get-go. He might show some range on a better project.
It seems strange casting though. It really helps if the spouse has some charm, like Neil Flynn has on “The Middle.” Arnett will have to really stretch to make viewers like him.
I don’t remember a single role he did that sounds like this one. But I also think this role is gonna be kinda awkward for him.
His talent is going to waste fast, he better have a hit soon or his representation should take the hit.
He also makes love to Amy. Lorne. Relationship. Wink wink. Principato needs to be released of their duties. Will needs 3 Arts.
I’m sooooo there!!!
Will Arnett is a treasure. He is bitingly funny, charming, great looking and a brilliant improvisational performer. Look at Clooney’s resume before ER – all Will needs is the right show and the audience is going to be there for him!
Yeah, Will Ferrell is going to give up his film career to star in the eighth season of a sitcom.
At least, The Office is safe. And the Jesse remake will take the hit.
Awesome news for Emily!
I think the real story is that someone should do good profiles of Becky and Principato. I’ve seen all sorts of coverage to Gavin Polone, Mike Ovitz, Brillstein, Grey, etc., but I think Becky, Principato and 3 Arts have been amazingly great at helping unknown and barely known performers create decent careers.
He is quickly becoming the Ted McGinley of sitcoms.
Principato is the WORST management place. They have completely mismanaged his career as well as countless others. How are they still in business?
Yeah they are the worst fastest growing, influential, hard working dedicated, management “place”, whose clients rock, out there. Sorry you never made the cut.
Will needs to fire his agent, whoever he/she may be. I thought Will wanted to pursue a film career?? He has the talent to be a major actor in the film industry, i know he can play a villain with that evil smile and his “smart ass, dark comedy” character.
