Some Internet media sites should stop writing about Hollywood agents because they get it wrong again and again. Witness Sharon Waxman and The Wrap (aka The Crap): they’re once again erroneously reporting about tenpercenteries, this time that WME board member John Fogelman “said hasty goodbyes on Friday, packed up and left” WME Entertainment and “would be working from home.” In fact, what The Crap laughably doesn’t know is that Fogelman merely moved his office to WME’s second floor where he continues to work until, as Deadline accurately reportedly last week, he figures out what he wants to do after deciding he wants to depart the agency. Waxman and The Crap have been wrong nearly every time they write about agents. Most infamously, Waxman in 2009 erroneously and repeatedly reported that her sources said the William Morris-Endeavor merger was not happening and would never happen. And as recently as a few days ago, she was wrong again, this time erroneously reporting that Fogelman was not leaving WME. And, as if that weren’t enough, she erroneously headlined late last week that Fogelman made a “sudden” decision to leave WME — when in fact he made the decision back in December as Deadline accurately reported. And now she headlines this erroneous Fogelman-has-left-the-building nonsense. Add this to all the other stuff that Waxman and TheWrap get wrong, and you start to understand why Hollywood calls her site TheCrap.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Remember when she idiotically misidentified manager John Carrabino as Miramax’s Bob Weinstein in her NY Times’ Oscar story?
Thanks for the accurate reporting but is all the name calling necessary? We get it Nikki. Ur on top of ur game. I hate shitty reporting too. But let’s not go all junior high about it.
Speak for yourself. Going “junior high” is part of the fun. This is Hollywood, after all.
Does someone have a case of the Tuesdays? Wow, you really ripped her a new one. Geeze, you’ve clearly won, all traffic comes to your site, showing by all the comments. Do you have to beat a sista while she’s down?
I guess so, all is fair in entertainment and war.
Why the hostility toward a third rate organization? Show some class and don’t sh*t on the competition…they are NOT competition. You won. You win. Just keep doing what you do and let the readers make that comment instead of you.
Because they regularly rip off Deadline. They are crap, it’s a fact. If they weren’t, they’d be competition.
Word is Fogelman is burnt out.
Well said previous posters. Nikki does her job very well. No doubt there. But this almost feels like Kobe Bryant blogging about how bad my college team was.
Sharon Waxman is a poor excuse for a journalist. She not only doesn’t get the basics of journalism.
When a journalist (ANY JOURNALIST) intimates that someone was fired when they weren’t, or uses OFF the record comments ON the record, or not only tell the subject of their story an OFF the record source, but then also tells them what the OFF THE RECORD source said, or when they “lift” something from another’s story without doing their own reporting or giving credit … it deserves to be pointed out. And repeatedly.
It’s how you get rid of the bad apples who hurt the entire profession.
Remember when Waxman reported all those Relativity “buys” that never happened? Or when she reported that Michael Eisner “tomorrow” was taking over the chairmanship of the board of the Tribune Co.?
Or how about when she used an old quote from Harvey Weinstein in a current story about Disney for the NY Times, making it look like she just got Harvey on the phone and quoted him THAT DAY when it was from an interview she did for her book months earlier?
Believe me, it is right to run the muck out of the profession.
A hack like Anita Busch who got fired EVERYWHERE she EVER worked because she was incompetent and bat shit crazy calls someone else a “poor excuse for a journalist”? What a joke!
Nikke, you have one of the finest and most trusted Entertainment Business sites, if not THE BEST! While I loved the personality of your snarking at Oscars, I find this pummeling of The Crap, well, it’s beneath you. Better that you merely run an article pointing out the flaws, errors, and “borrowed” information as facts, and your readers will “get it”. Go ahead, run her out of business, embarrass her, but don’t embarrass yourself in doing so, please. This business needs you. You’re the Cream of the Crop, you continue to rise to the top!
why waste your time commenting on inferior reporters.
It’s a time suck for YOU and YOUR readers.
Who cares?
It’s not like she is your equal or your competition.
Toldja!
Team Nikki
Sharon Waxman has been off the rails for years. She is a classic example of a reporter who uses old sources, other people’s sources or just plain makes sh*t up. No one in the industry takes her seriously. She hid behind the banner of the NY Times for a while until they finally wised up. A few years ago she interviewed me for a NYT story and you could tell she had already written her “op-ed piece”disguised as a piece of reporting and had no time for facts that opposed her unsubstantiated point of view. She’s a hack.
WAY TO GO NIKKI!!!! DON’T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE PC POSTS ABOVE…WE LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!!!
