EXCLUSIVE: As Deadline told you, Summit Entertainment post-Twilight Saga is continuing to bet heavily on books for its future franchises. Most are conducive to young casts. Now I can report that another young actress to watch is making the transition from TV to movies: CW’s The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev has been cast as Candace in the film based on Stephen Chbosky’s novel The Perks of Being A Wallflower, which the author is adapting for Harry Potter‘s Emma Watson and Logan Lerman as well as Paul Rudd. This was a much sought-after lead role. The 22-year-old Bulgarian-Canadian actress played Mia Jones, the single teenage mother, on Degrassi: The Next Generation, from the show’s 6th to 9th season. She currently plays Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on The Vampire Diaries and won the ”Young Hollywood Making Their Mark” category at the 12th Annual Young Hollywood Awards. i read the book, wich was amazing, but don’t remember a candace…can anyone fill in the description of this character or if she was in the book? bravo to dobrev, shes fantastic and its well deserved.
candace is the name given to Charlie’s sister for the film version. not a lead role but a meaty one and she figures in a critical scene in the book which will hopefully make it to screen

The dual roles give you a chance to see that the pathetic Elena character is a actually some pretty good acting, given how well Nina fills the Katherine character. Hope to see more of her
Only agent at Innovative worth their salt is Bluestone. Feel sorry for all the actors there that are not repped by her.
Her evolution as an actress on Vampire Diaries is amazing – she deftly plays two completely different people with the same face. It’s something to see, all the little nuances she adds to each woman.
This is lining up to be a great cast. Although Charlie’s sister isn’t a lead role. Charlie(Logan,) Sam(Emma,) and Patrick are the three leads. Hunger Games producers can learn a thing or two from Mr. Mudd and Summit.
