Alyson Hannigan has signed to reprise her role in American Reunion, the Universal film that brings back the cast of the raunchy American Pie franchise. Hannigan was the question mark among the original cast when stories about the sequel began popping up. She had the leverage for a nice piece of the pie because the story revolves around her marriage and child with Jason Biggs’ character. Hannigan will work in the film before she returns to the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. She’s repped by APA and Lovett Management.

This is good news for Alyson Hannigan. She needs the work. Now if she could only find roles for the rest of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer cast who are in perpetual unemployment…
She needs the work? She’s been working for the past 6 years full time on How i Met Your Mother…she is already working!
Huh? Alyson doesn’t need the work. She’s got a steady gig on How I Met Your Mother which is on it’s sixth season! It just got renewed for two more seasons! I mean it’s great that she’s willing to do other work, not that I’m a fan of the American Pie movies, but I know others are, but Alyson is not hurting for work.
But yeah, I’d like to see Nicholas Brendan, Charisma Carpenter, Emma Caulfield and other Buffy alumn getting some more work. I miss them.
Nicholas Brendon is on Private Practice, Emma Caulfield is writing comic books and currently working on Bandwagon, Charisma Carpenter was recently in the Expendables. As for other Buffy alumni? Sarah Michelle Gellar is starring in a new show, Ringer, which sounds awesome and is getting awesome reviews already. Michelle Trachtenberg is on Gossip Girl, and is also working on a sitcom that will air soon. Amber Benson is writing magnificent books. David Boreanaz is on Bones which is in its sixth season. James Marsters is doing theatre(also he just got married!)
So, they’re all doin pretty well, even if some of the work that they are doing is less well-known.
Boreanaz is doing better then well; outside of being on Bones (6th season with assured renewal) but he also owns a piece of that show (Exec Producer with a distribution option)…. so out of anyone, he isn’t hurting for work. Hannigan has How I Met Your Mother, so she’s also not in a bad spot.. Brendon is finally figuring his life out; all in all, the buffy crew didn’t turnout so bad. We’ll see on Gellar. Amber Benson, AFAIC, has turned into a pretty good writer. Her opening work “Death’s Daughter” was eh teen lit; but by the third book Serpent’s Storm, she has a real pace to her writing and she had markedly improved her dialog. That book is actually a very good work; and if she continues as is, she has quite a few books in her
And whose agent are you, Chris?
‘We’ll see on Gellar?’ if she’s not working its cause she wants time off. Totally talented.
She is the only one that has steady work via How I Met Your Mother.
Glad she got a film gig, though.
Needs the work? What, “How I Met Your Mother” isn’t good enough?
Really? Turn on CBS tonight.
Now there’s a movie I never need to see!
Nice going Universal! With a slate like that… I won’t need the 10% I saved on car insurance.
you are an idiot, she has been working for years.
Woo Hoo. I wonder if this means the end of the straight to DVD Pie movies.
Is Chris Klein back? He thought he was too good for the last movie. I’m guessing we won’t be seeing January Jones this time around.
I’m down for another American Pie movie. Outside of the straight to DVD movies, the theatrical films have been consistently good. American Wedding wasn’t great, but still had a lot of funny moments. Bring it on.
Of all the cast names bandied about, I’ve seen all the originals except Eddie Kaye Thomas. When you have Stifler’s mom, you also have her young paramour, right? Hopefully, he’ll sign on and this will be a fun slice of nostalgia.
So, is Adam Herz writing this?
Nope. Jon Hurtwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, of nearly everything to do with “Harold & Kumar.” They’re also directing.
That’s too bad. I like Hurwitz and Schlossberg, but I was hoping Herz would come back and find some unique inspiration like the spark that led to the original film.
Obviously, the direct-to-DVD sequels haven’t totally cooked this goose. I’d see this film. Again, though, the Finch character probably belongs in there somewhere.
That’s great news, she’s the best!
She’s the only reason I would want to watch this movie.
Anyone know if Tara Reid, Natasha Lyonne or Mena Suvari will be making appearances?
I know they sat out of Wedding but don’t think any of them are in the position to turn a role down this time around.
Who cares? The series peaked with “American Pie Presents: the Naked Mile.”
Good luck re-capturing that lightning in a bottle!
American Pie Presents has got nothing to do with American Pie 1, 2 and 3. It’s a different series completely, bar the name and whats-his-faces dad appearing in them. Plus, it peaked with American Pie 2.
I’m looking forward to seeing this movie.
