On a very competitive night, with NBA playoffs and baseball luring male viewers, the premiere of USA Network’s Burn Notice movie prequel, Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, did OK, drawing 3.6 million viewers, 1.4 million of them in the adults 18-49 demographic. Also last night, A&E’s unscripted series Storage Wars hit a series high with an audience of 3.8 million, 1.9 of them in the 18-49 demo. Meanwhile, AMC’s drama The Killing had a strong Week 3 showing with 2.5 million viewers, down only 2% from last week, and 1.1 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, up a big 19% from last week and a rare double-digit week-to-week increase for a heavily serialized drama. Reliable ratings for the premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones will be available tomorrow.
On Friday, Disney Channel’s movie Lemonade Mouth became the most-watched cable movie of the year with 5.7 million viewers. Also on Friday, History’s American Restoration was off to a strong start with 3.3 million viewers, 1.5 million of them in the 18-49 demo.

Early reports say the Game of Thrones premiere was disappointing in the ratings. Rumored to be around 1.5-1.6. Not surprising, didn’t think the series would fare all to well with people who hadn’t read the books.
If true, that’s a shame. HBO might have been better served premiering GoT after True Blood. And if people who haven’t read the books are avoiding this series they are only shorting themselves. The book are some of the best fantasy novels out there and moreover they are just great stories.
Agreed. I haven’t read the books but I’m chomping at the bit to see more of GoT. Fantastic!
Lemonade Mouth was cool fun film.
We need more of those for the whole family TV movie events….
Burn Notice was the worst installment I have ever seen, and yes I am a fan.
A simple call to a veterans club would have solved all the basic glaring errors with Sam’s history and uniform.
As a veteran I was stuck looking at something I saw as unbelievable. Pity something so easy to get right was pissed away. The entire costume department should have been fired !
I really liked the Sam Axe film. They should make many more film with Sam.
Can’t wait for the new season of Burn Notice.
Are you seriously holding a TV show to real world standards?
The premise for Burn Notice is not based in reality. Let it go… Life will Be less frustrating.
I liked the movie. If you are referring to the blue camo, it was “issued” to him facetiously by the Admiral. I also like Colombia – it was nice scenery and it introduced us to “Beatriz” who was fantastic! Hope to see more of her in Season 5 of Burn Notice.
I think any loose ends will be tied up in the series.
Was it the lack of a navy S.E.A.L. pin? I’m not well versed in military attire, but I thought Sam was a SEAL and that pin didn’t look like it.
Happy to see the cable channels doing so well. I’m sick of repeats on the big 4 and have moved on to some new shows on cable. It looks like a good spring/summer for new shows.
Sam Axe was filmed on location in Bogota. When will execs learn that it is NEVER worth the money saved to shoot down there?
I watched Lemonade Mouth with my sister and I must say that it was sort of like a return to my former zoog disney days. The acting was much more subtle than most disney (and even lifetime) telefilms. Good for them. Quality TV movies shouldn’t just be an HBO thing (which are quite splendid). Now if they could only return to the tv series (non-laughtrack) like “Even Stevens”, “Lizzie McGuire”, and “In a Heartbeat”!
Glad The Killing is doing well. It’s such a great, smart and well acted drama. I am hooked and will tune in for every episode.
As am I. AMC has now become one of my favorite cable channels. I only wish that the superb “Rubicon” had garnered enough ratings last year to go beyond one season.
Storage Wars? Really? Jesus.
I am one of those who is not watching GOT because i have not read the books. That’s because i want to read the books first.
