CNN announced Friday that it has hired CNBC’s Erin Burnett to anchor a weekday general news program and be the network’s chief business correspondent. At CNBC, she anchored weekday staples Squawk on the Street and Street Signs and was a contributor to NBC’s Meet the Press and Today. Over-rated!!!!! She will end up like Liz Clayman (sp?) who left for Fox Business Channel never to be heard from again. Erin, no one at CNN is taken seriously on any subject most especially business news.
She is really good at breaking down business news to make it enjoyable, as much as business news can be. She is a hard core republican & is use to Elaborating on her beliefs w/no editing. One annoying thing she’ll do is if she interviews a guest that she does not agree with, she’ll state her point & they’ll go back & forth, but at the end she always gets a snide remark in as they throw it to commercial. If though I usually agree w/her, it’s very annoying & will not be tolerated @ CNN. I hope they don’t wreck her career like they did Campbell Browns. I wonder if she wanted the Today Show gig & was rebuffed? Liz Claymon was on CNBC for years before she left to go to Fox Business Channel, she should have never left. She is also a solid reporter who makes business news enjoyable. Smart, witty & polished. I hope she lands back on CNBC.
Erin is an incredible talent, and she will have amazing chemistry with Wolf Blitzer and David Gergen in particular. Great move by CNN.
Such dreamy eyes…sigh.
Pablo what are you talking about? She was doing 3 hours a day on CNBC and has great cred. Smart move by CNN and huge loss for CNBC.
Sad. Great reporter on the best network. She’ll disappear at CNN.
Big mistake, CNN. She is good-looking, but that is it. She routinely embarrasses herself on Meet the Press by puppetting (sometimes verbatim) what other analysts and insiders said.
I understand her desire to branch out… and I have long been a big fan of hers (watch CNBC every day)… but I doubt many people will follow her to CNN. Do the words “Paula Zahn” mean anything?
People these days watch channels, not people (with some possible exceptions like an O’Reilly, Hannity, Olbermann, etc- ie, an opinion host). There’s a reason to watch CNBC, but none that I know of to watch CNN.
Erin called president of France a monkey, constantly joked about camels, and her style seemed more like a sideshow on CNBC. She was passed over by the Today Show since th
No loss to CNBC. Here was an anchor who constantly did naughty things … Calling France’s president a ‘monkey’ on MSNBC, using camel jokes regularly, and bordering on rudeness with guests. About her only value was the ability to get along with the co-host Mark Haines, a grumpy old man who looks like the retired Maytag Man.
The Good News…Erin is bright, witty, fun and ‘hot’.
The Bad News…Erin is moving to CNN.
Great move for Erin. How she’s kept from slugging Mark Haines, we’ll never know. Good luck.
My guess is that she was rebuffed by NBC for “Today” and quite possibly wanted to do more and rebuffed for travel/business stories for CNBC.
It’s a great move for her though. She’ll gain immense amount of experience as a news anchor both domestic and international. I’m sure her goal is to become the nightly anchor of a news show. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she left because of the “creepiness” at NBC, MSNBC and CNBC.
I love Erin’s style…and clarity. She, unfortunately, is going to be lost in the whirlwind that is CNN. I hate to admit this, because I am Zimmerlartopershusmabolob, but I was rather dependent on her for my mid-day CNBC. The two of them had amazing clarity and their banter was minimal and relevant.
Who am I kidding, nows my chance!
CNBC, here comes your new anchor Zimmerlartopershusmabolob!
Erin, I don’t want to lose you =/
CNN is a big change, good for her.
Erin is sharp, witty, knows-her-stuff, and is good-looking, she’ll do well…
Really liked Erin. Will be sorely missed by Squawk and CNN is very lucky. Good luck, Erin!
She’s Natural and charismatic no question about that !!!
Men like her. CNN ratings will soar and challenge FOX for viewers. She is a keeper.
She’s a great talent but it’s sad CNN may have to lose Eliot Spitzer instead. Would have preferred to see a slot for both of them, rather than watch re-runs of Anderson Cooper 360, all night. The Arena is/was a very good show. I enjoyed Mr Spitzer’s wisdom, clarity and audacity on issues. I hope he runs for President someday, now that he has rehabilitated his image through CNN etc. Spitzer for President.
