20th Century Fox has made a high six-figure spec deal for an untitled action comedy that figures to be the next film directed by Luke Greenfield, whose pic Something Borrowed opens May 6 through Warner Bros and Alcon. The new film will be produced by Simon Kinberg under his overall Fox deal. Greenfield wrote the script with Nicholas Thomas. The film is an edgy action-comedy for two male stars. The studio is already looking at actors in hopes of starting production in the fall.
Kinberg will produce through Genre Films with Genre’s Aditya Sood and Wide Awake’s Greenfield. Kinberg is in post-production on the Matthew Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class and the McG-directed This Means War, and he’s exec producer on Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and producer on the Neill Blomkamp-directed Elysium. CAA reps Kinberg and Greenfield, APA reps Thomas.

Nice to see one of the talented guys out there continuing to work. I heard that spec is hysterical!
Awesome! Something Borrowed looks fantastic. Cool guy and hear he is soon to marry an amazing girl!
Yes Sir!!! Cream rises to the top. Thomas is a sicko and you will be hearing much, much more from him!!! This business is crazy and blurred at times, but every now and then they will see true talent and recognize it!!!
Yeah. He seems really talented. I mean look at “SOMETHING BORROWED”, looks so fresh.
hahahaha… exactly my thoughts. talented? looks like a steaming pile…
Love Luke, best thing he ever did was leave the controlling Raskind and go to CAA. Unless his name was the lame McG. Glad to see Luke succeed, Something Borrowed looks great, he is engaged and selling specs. Could not happen to a nicer guy. Go Luke!
Thomas wrote the funniest pilot I’ve ever read for comedy central. What happened to it?
Did Fox see Something Borrowed? I did, last night, and it’s not good. Not horrible, but seriously boring and predictable. I think the makeup/hair department must have hated Kate Hudson because she looks terrible.
The male lead, whom I’ve never heard of, is quite pretty.
Proud of you Luke G and Nicky T! Both great talents but way better Vegas navigators. Proud of you both!
BJ Rye bread!
Talk about persistence…
Luke has been at without giving in for some time and his ability to finesse his comedy chops continues to grow and mature with each of his films.
Congrats to Luke for keeping it going and expect more risks.. and rewards down the line.
Looking forward to Something Borrowed. Heard the screenings went over very, very positively. Yahoo for chick flicks, damn the critics.
He also did “girl next door”, which I really liked and the one time I met him he was down to earth. Congrats Luke!
Go Luke!
How about Simon Kinberg?? Wow…from A list writer, to one of fox’s top producers. Very seemless transition…Akiva’s was the first to spot him and ten years later their careers are very much on the same path. Simon’s a great guy, very smart, VERY hardworking, family guy, but above all…I’d bet on him every time and be thrilled to have my projects with him.
Love Luke and Nick!
Anyone on this thread who has anything good to say about Thomas is either Nick himself, or a family member.
