EXCLUSIVE: Great news for flash mob fans. Fox has picked up Howie Mandel’s reality special Mobbed to series with an eight-episode order. The order follows the solid ratings performance of the special last night. Airing behind American Idol, Mobbed, which featured an elaborate surprise marriage proposal involving a large group of singers and dancers, drew a 3.8/10 in adults 18-49 and 10.8 million viewers, scoring the largest audience and the highest 18-49 retention for a reality show airing after Idol in two years. Based on a format created by Mandel, Darryl Trell and Howard 
Kitrosser, Mobbed puts a hidden-camera spin on the “flash mob” phenomenon (large groups of people suddenly showing up in public places to perform a pre-rehearsed dance number). It features people throwing elaborate surprises for friends, family members, loved ones or co-workers. Mobbed is produced by Alevy Productions and Angel City Factory. Mandel, Trell, Kitrosser, Chris Cowan, Jean-Michel Michenaud, Michael Rotenberg, Mike Marks and Kevin Healey are executive producing.

All flash-mobs do is inspire people to violence. I witnessed this at a mall once. What started out as a bunch of imbeciles with too much time on their hands doing a silly dance routine almost ended in a brawl when some miscreant teens began taunting them and throwing things from the mezzanine overhead. Eventually someone is going to pull out a gun.

What is promotional message of this show? Dad didn’t want to see his son for 37 years!!! Where is moral here? That father doesn’t deserve to be seen on TV. I would not give him a glass of water. That stinks. He is a big jerk. Don’t follow stupid scenarios. Use your your brain to make judgements.
The show was entertaining enough as a one-off, but I don’t see how this could last as a series.
After seeing it done once, there’s no need to see another one.

I watched the episode where the guy proposed to his girlfriend and they got married with all the dancers, i actually couldnt keep my eyes off the tv nevermind change the channel!

I’m sorry… I really liked the show. I’d heard of flash mobs but I had never seen one. I have a situation which I would love to purpose you do one of your shows on. I found out this year in January I have a 20 year old daughter with a 3 year old grandson. The mother introduced us on FaceBook and besides a fem emails and a Skype phone call we haven’t been able to meet each other. She has already had a really hard life and myself being a diabetic with a heart condition… well I’m not doing to much better. I don’t know how this works or even who I’d contact, but I’d like to do something special for my daughter who’s first 20 years I’ve missed. Could you please send me info on who I can contact to see if Howie can work his magic for me and my daughter?
I find Howie Mandel disgusting! He has a mean streak that is only getting worse. He has no sense of good taste. How low will he go? This would have been more moving to watch if it had been done thoughtfully. Is was very sad to watch. How can so many people not see this. eGow many ladies would like

As fun as she thought it was, there will be hurt always for that stupid immature and unnecessary prank. All thanks to good ol’ Howie who also shows his immaturity on America’s Got Talent. He doesn’t know when to stop. He’s not that funny anymore.
