At the end of his show today, Glenn Beck addressed his pending departure as Fox News talk show host. “When I took this job, I didn’t take it because it was going to be a career for me,” Beck said. “Paul Revere did not get up on the horse and say, ‘I’m going to do this for the rest of my life.’ He didn’t do it. He got off his horse at some point and fought in the revolution, and then he went back to silver-smithing.” Beck didn’t elaborate much on his future plans beyond saying that “I will continue to tell the story.” He also made a plug for Fox News. “Fox is one of the only places you will find truth,” he said. “Spread the word. Stick together and together we will do the right thing for our country and for our world.” Here’s the video:

Glenn, I’d like to let you know that because of you, there are blind, misled, uneducated, brain-washed 25 year old “conservatives” who like to argue politics with me and use your show as support and backing for their arguments.
I have a degree in political science and I have found myself speechless with no response to some of the nonsense points people have made to me, these points coming from your mouth. You have a loyal following of people who only take in information that support their biased, strong-headed opinions.
You are a genius in some strange, twisted way but I can’t say the same about your followers. The only thing more annoying than your ideas and theories is you pretending that you actually believe them yourself.
As someone who likes to talk politics and also has a political science degree, I share your pain.
Political science degree = job involving a paper hat.
I completely agree except Glenn is not a genius; he’s an opportunist. And a douchebag.
It doesn’t take a genius to get idiots to jump off a bridge.
25-year-olds actually watch his show? I thought it was only senior citizens. That makes me sad for the future of this country.
“I have a degree in PoliSci…any more frightening than ‘I am from the government and am here to help’”…You under 35 tools are going to now deal with what we more seasoned of life dealt with from 1978-82, thanks to Mr. Obama(Carter) the Elder…Hey-how’s that latte coming cause I’m late for my JOB!
Paul Revere went back to silversmithing — Glenn Beck goes back to shilling for Goldline.
The clown is delusional.
just go away, please.
Magister mundi sum! Better hurry Glenn, your Caliphate awaits.
Your lies will set you free,a good meal and a sharp knife . BYE BYE GLEN
glenn…
you are not the messiah, you are a mess.
you are a legend…in your own mind.
as Howard Stern pointed out, you were a radio dj before this, so why don’t you go back to spinning records instead of propaganda for the uneducated right.
Did he really just compare himself to Paul Revere?
Bye Bye Glenn Dreck.
Your paranoia will be missed and your misstatements of facts and harmful distortions will not.
I just hope Beck learns from The X-Files and Lost and is able to wrap up all the conspiracy theories and red herrings in a satisfying conclusion before the season ends.
The mythology has gotten pretty convoluted and lately it’s seems even his hardcore viewers have been worried he was treading water while searching for an ending.
Glenn, If I want the truth, I’ll take a graduate level course in philosophy. If want laughable, opinionated, dogmatic, divisive commentary disguised as actual news, I’ll be sure to tune in to Fox News.
JUST GO AWAY…..
Hey Rico. We’re saying the same thing about Obama. Hopefully both he and Lauer will be gone in 2012.
THANK GOD HE’S GONE.
Does Glenn Beck have a college education?
And now Beck compares himself to Paul Revere.
NO! You may not quit!
You shall dance monkey, Dance!
DANCE I SAY!!!
Ya just can’t take a man seriously who wears magic underwear.
The difference is Paul Revere didn’t weep openly like a bitch on national television.
See ya, Blubber Baby Beck. Maybe you can join Cry Baby Boehner for some weepy beers. Man, the conservatives have some serious estrogen boys on their team.
I can’t understand why people are so frightened of words that someone says that they must spew vitriol and hatred in response instead of just changing the channel or not listening. On the other hand, I think I’m glad I don’t understand the hate – it seems like a really sad way to live. If I disagree with someone, I simply disagree with them. I don’t wish them ill or call them names to make myself feel better. Oh, but I forgot, this is all part of the “civility” and “tolerance” that keeps getting called for.
100% agreement here. Why is it the Left postures as the ones who hate bullying, support tolerance and diversity and yet the minute someone disagrees w/them it’s “idiot”, “dreck”, “a mess”, etc. Beck is a great success story – went from a DJ with serious issues to a major commentator on TV and radio with books, stage performances, etc – and (know personally) employs a bunch of people who are very happy to work with him, very well paid, very well educated and it is known in NYC that he has got his hands on the best researchers in the business. You dont have to like him but when you use bad language i dont think less of him – i think you are not smart enough to frame a decent argument.
And isnt coming up from nothing and making a success what the US is supposed to be about – its also the story of a lot of people who built movie studios.
Did you just call Glenn Beck’s show a “News” Show? That is both ridiculous and hilarious
Like Newspeak from Orwell’s 1984 the opposite of everything Beck says is the truth.
I’m a liberal and don’t care if he keeps his show or not. He doesn’t threaten me or challenge my beliefs in the least. People who believe him would find someone equally unhinged to believe in his absence. We spend way too much time worried about this guy. He’s admitted himself that he’s a ‘rodeo clown.’
I would wager that most if not all of the previous posts were made by people who have never even watched the Glenn Beck show or even listened to him on the radio. They are lemmings who do little to challenge what they already believe to be the truth, preferring to stick their heads in the sand while typing trite comments.
Being both jewish and gay I should be a rabid liberal. I don’t usually find myself surrounded by people who agree with me politically. However, when I ask my liberal friends to articulate specifically where Fox News has deliberately lied or what specifically makes Rush Limbaugh a homophobe or racist they just say “they just do” or “he just is.” You just gotta laugh.
The truth is, the far left and progressive movement is fast becoming a real threat to free speech and liberty in this country. Their primary goal appears to be silencing the opposition rather than debating the issues in an open forum. They increasingly rely on character assassination or vulgarity rather than putting forth a solid defense of their point-of-view. You see it on college campuses, in the press, on broadcast networks and in the entertainment industry.
One of the most entertaining exercises for me is asking my friends to name a conservative who regularly appears on any of the “mainstream media” broadcasting outlets. Lets see, we have ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, NPR, CNN and HLN. I can usually come up with a couple before they do. Why is there no opposing point-of-view allowed? Even conservative hosts like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity open their shows to liberal voices. Regular contributors on Fox include Juan Williams, Mara Liasson, Geraldo Rivera, Susan Estrich, Alan Colmes, Bob Beckel, Kirsten Powers, Greta Van Susteren and Dr. Marc Lamont Hill. And both Juan Williams and Mara Liasson were pressured heavily by the left because of their associations with Fox News. It’s obvious that they fear legitimizing the network among more liberally minded people. What do they fear? Don’t they feel people are intelligent enough to draw their own conclusions? Don’t they want people to challenge the conservative rhetoric?
Personally, I want to see more conservative voices on the other news outlets. I don’t want liberals silenced. I want them to keep talking and educating Americans about what they really represent. Then the people can make a fair decision of which direction they prefer for their country.
Fox News’ ratings are usually twice as large as all the other cable news outlets combined. The viewers obviously don’t feel the same about the quality and veracity of Fox News reporting as some on the far left. If your only refuge, like Bill Maher, is to say that the American people are just plain stupid, then the same would hold true for the election of Barack Obama—wouldn’t it? You can’t have it both ways. The majority is either conservative and stupid or liberal and stupid. I’ll let you decide.
I am a avid reader and news junkie and it is not difficult to find erroneous reporting or examples of deception at all the major television and cable networks. It’s the nature of the beast and the pursuit of viewers. None of them are angels.
Glenn Beck, idiot leader of a legion of fools, may he fade away with all possible haste.
