Thanks again, HBO & ENTOURAGE, for giving Vinny a drug problem. Exactly what the fans were clamoring for.
What about Hung?It usually airs alongside Entourage. Not to mention, How To Make It In America. The first season ended a year ago and the only info I’ve gotten in the last few months is that “the second season is in production”.
If I didn’t love Ari and Shauna so much, I’d skip Entourage this season. I’m still not sure if I’ll watch True Blood. I fell out of love with it last season.
Entourage, you make me hate my neighborhood. Why doesn’t HBO just do the smart thing and straight to DVD this crap since they’re only interested in DVD revenue anyway? I’d rather replace each 14 min episode with ads for HBO
Entourage used to be something of a male sex & city disguised as male fantasy, while also giving folks an inside look at the entertainment industry through really fun lenses. There were scenes that were just talking between the guys, about women, sex, mocking one another, etc; it was realistic and true to the way buddies speak and communicate. However, since guys don’t usually tune into shows like that, it was disguised as a “Hollywood fantasy c’mon and get yo tits & ass right here!” series. Brilliant! But now it’s all about story arcs and storylines and isn’t fun, just simply lame as hell.
But let’s break it down further: By season 5 ENTOURAGE started to feel tired, and once Vince was back on top after the Medillin fiasco (great storyline) and he eventually got back on his feet thanks to Scorcese, the show had maxed out. The season before last should have been it’s final one. Ari got Terrence’s company, Johnny got a pilot, Eric got engaged, and Vinny was an official A-Lister. Then this last season came along, and it was disgustingly awful; giving Vince a drug problem was completely out of character and didn’t feel organic at all.
So now the final season needs to recover from a terrible season finale that brought all our characters to low points that those guys who tuned in to see the show to begin with have no interest in. We want to live vicariously through Entourage, not deal with drama (no pun intended)…
Do I work in this business and understand the need to continue a series because A) It’s still making money and B) The creators (especially THOSE creators) have been given a lot of power and refuse to kiss their baby goodnight — YES, I DO. BUT STILL… It makes my stomach turn and churn.
Yes, Entourage has been around at least 2 seasons too long. But that’s television. 30 Rock should pull the plug to preserve its legacy, but it won’t. Too much money to be had. Curb should call it quits, too, as it hasn’t been funny in a couple seasons. But this is America, we beat it long after it’s dead.
I’ve seen every episode of entourage and have enjoyed the show the last 7 seasons. I was disappointed at the ending to last season. But hey this series has explored everything that happens to different movie stars. Why shouldn’t they also explore Vinny having a drug problem? How many movie stars have we seen blow it cause of a drug problem?? It would be almost unreal that at some point in a series like that they wouldn’t visit the issue. By the way i Think Bob Saget has been AWESOME
Wonder when Life & Times of Tim is back on the air. Good compliment to Curb.
Not sure that would be a good idea. It seems highly influenced by Curb. It’s been criticized for being an “animated curb” hasn’t it?
It’s a great show, but maybe it would be better paired with a new comedy.
Is it even coming back?
ENTOURAGE has been a bright spot in HBO line-up without heavy weights like SOPRANOS, DEADWOOD, or THE WIRE. The first 4 seasons are some of the best drama on TV pitting ruthless machine-like logic of the agents against the pride & folly of the actors. The last season seems to wander off to a fuzzy muddle but there is nothing quite like it on TV.
“Curb should call it quits, too, as it hasn’t been funny in a couple seasons.”
Bo, you may have lost your ability to laugh. Curb is still one of the best shows on air. Or the off chance that you just don’t “get” the humor.
I just don’t see how they can top last season… You can bet your ass millions will tune-in to find out!
