EXCLUSIVE: Hope Davis is set to star opposite Tea Leoni in HBO’s half-hour comedy pilot Spring/Fall. Jake Kasdan has come on board to direct the project, which is set in New York City against the backdrop of the fashion world and centers on the dysfunctional partnership between Margo (Leoni) and Eden (Davis), two women with different approaches to career, family and friendship. Margo is a successful designer and a happily married mother of 5-year-old twins working for famous fashion designer Victor Cross. When he commits suicide, Margo takes over his line and quickly realizes she’s in over her head, so she reaches out to her estranged former best friend and collaborator Eden, a onetime famous fashion designer herself, and convinces her to come work for her.
Kasdan will direct from a script by Kate Robin. Robin, Leoni, R.J. Cutler and Jimmy Miller, are executive producing. Davis is a familiar face at HBO. She has appeared in a number of programs for the pay cable network, including the movie The Special Relationship and the series In Treatment, both of which earned her Emmy nominations, and most recently, the miniseries Mildred Pierce. Davis, a Tony nominee, also stars in the LA production of the Broadway play God of Carnage, which began performances last night at the Ahmanson Theatre, reuniting the original Broadway cast. In the summer, the actress, repped by UTA and manager Perri Kipperman, will be seen opposite Hugh Jackman in Real Steel. Kasdan most recently directed the upcoming Cameron Diaz comedy Bad Teacher.

This sounds great!
I like the combination of Tea and Hope. Finally a strong female oriented show at HBO. This one sounds really good.
I read the script on this one and thought it was really good. Actually felt like it was beyond just a female show. Smart and funny and really about these two women and not just fashion. Good one for HBO.
Oh wow. Another HBO show that will appeal to about three people. And that was even before they cast box office poison Tea Leoni. Poor Hope Davis. Woman deserves better than this obvious tripe.
I LOVE Tea Leoni and I like Hope Davis, so I really hope this show works! Admittedly, I don’t have cable anymore, so the only way I’ll see it is if it comes to Netflix, but hopefully that will happen.

Tea is funny and I would watch Hope Davis do anything. Not sure that she is a comic but it all depends on the situation I guess. She was amazing on In Treatment so I am looking forward to seeing her do something different.
Very excited about this series.
