high concept, made small…could be good, they better find a new way to market it though.

WORD
DOPE
It played last week at the Sarasota Film Festival last week. Some of the our crew (I producing a TV pilot so I was unable to see it) saw it and they loved it. I’m bummed I missed it…
I hope it’s great…
but that trailer… I don’t know.
Fringe?
I think this concept is unique and interesting. Definitely a movie with potential if it done correctly. The trailer looked decent.
I guess Mike Cahill saw Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun awhile back . . .
I remember a 60′s movie called JOURNEY TO THE FAR SIDE OF THE SUN aka DOPPELGANGER that was similar. About time somebody did it again.
You beat me to it… I was thinking the same thing. JOURNEY was a weird, spooky little British film which was big on rockets and technology but hardly scratched the surface of the human / psychological impact of discovering another (mirror-image) Earth out there. Looks like this movie has that ratio reversed.
And Doppelganger stole this ide a from Twilight Zone. And I am sure Twilight Zone stole this idea from a novel so there you go.
HOT. About time William Mapother broke out.
Agree. Far more interesting than his cuz.
isnt’ this the subplot of RABBIT HOLE to a T?
He wants to go to a parrelel universe where the accident (that wasn’t his fault) never happened?
There is interesting premise but Gosh that trailer was boring to death. I like science fiction but there’s no way i’m gonna watch that. Science fiction will just be as background and the whole movie will probably be about that boring relationship.
Aside from the whole “other world” part, the plot is similar to “The High Cost of Living.”
What was the pitch – Fringe but as a chick flick?
If another Earth-sized planet was in that close proximity to our own, the gravitational effects would rip our world apart – tidal waves, earthquakes, you name in. Just because this is some kind of hippy dippy new age drama doesn’t mean they can ignore science. MAJOR FAIL.
Trailer started off good then went into sappy drama. Seems like it focuses on one female’s mistake. This could be great if it was about several people trying fix their lives on Earth 2.
How to take a fresh concept rife with possibilities and turn it into a boring milksop drama. Or was it a boring milksop drama that they imbued with a fresh concept? Either way, this trailer has me staying home with my alternate self.
Saw this at the Sarasota Film Festival and I was blown away. Beautifully done on every level.
Obviously not an intelligent film from a scientific point of view. Probably just another fantasy melodrama. I imagine teenage girls will love it.
Commenters on this site have gotten weird recently. Trolls?
This trailer looks interesting – I can see it working really well as a short (story, not film), so I’m curious to see how the concept holds up over a whole film.
