EXCLUSIVE: Jean-Briac (JB) Perrette, president of NBCUniversal Digital & Affiliate Distribution and Content Distribution Strategy, is out. He is the latest top NBCU executive from the previous regime to exit after NBCU and Comcast’s TV properties were realigned under CEO Steve Burke following the company’s merger. Perrette’s responsibilities included overseeing broadcast distribution relationships, strategy for content distribution across all platforms, affiliate relations and marketing. He used to report to Universal TV Group president and COO Jeff Gaspin and work closely with NBC Network and Media Works President John Eck, both also gone in the fallout from the merger. Perrette previously served as president of digital distribution and led NBCU’s efforts in the formation of Hulu and has led a number of distribution deals with platforms like iTunes, Amazon.com and Xbox.

“President of NBCUniversal Digital & Affiliate Distribution and Content Distribution Strategy”? With a title like that I would fire him to.
Don’t be a dinosaur. If the studios don’t get with it and learn from the mistakes of the music industry, the big six will find themselves hemorrhaging money just like the record companies.
i think he had a technical operations job, with just a weird title. i’m guessing his compensation and perks were title driven, which is pretty standard in really big companies. i imagine he goes back to a technical job at ge somewhere.
Don’t be fooled by this guy’s ridiculous title.
JB Perrette is a HUGE piece of talent who contributed enormously to NBCU’s pre-Comcast distribution success in CATV & Sat, not to mention its foray into digital. Case in point: JB’s anything but incidental role in the creation & launch of Hulu.
Make no mistake, this is a big loss for Comcast.
Then maybe you should hire him…after all you have the same name.
Jeff Zucker, Jeff Gaspin, Angela Bromstead, Peter Smith, Roma Khanna, Don Browne, Perrette, to name just a few heads of divisions. What house cleaning?
Time to buy stock in Comcast. They are making long needed changes. The folks at NBC and GE love themselves no matter what the results. This was somewhat obvious when they bought Universal. NBC distribution folks took over even thought Universal was much more experienced in distribution. Interesting that Bonnie Hammer and Lauren Zalasnic (former Universal execs) have both gotten promoted under Comcast.
This move shows that Comcast is maing the right decisions regarding NBCU. It’s past time to clean house and populate the organization with fresh folks with fresh and innovative ideas.
It is more than obvious that under the previous leadership, NBCU was content to live at he bottom of every pile. It’s time to shake things up in a positive manner and bring about positive changesthat will not only enchance the organization but result in an increase in viewership, and advertising revenue ,etc.
Bravo and keep the positive changes coming!
