EXCLUSIVE: HBO has tapped Joe Pantoliano and Eriq La Salle for arcs on the upcoming second season of comedy series How To Make It In America, about a group of young hustlers in New York. Pantoliano will play Felix Di Florio, Lulu’s (Nicole Laliberte) intimidating and protective father, a powerful and influential New York artist. Pantoliano is a familiar face at HBO. I bet the rating on this show is horrible because of the false idea about New Yorkers….I will correct facts from fiction since I am a New Yorker:) People say ” NY is a city that never sleeps “, false, we do sleep because everyone has to work. People say ” NY is about sex and money “, false New Yorkers are ” workoholics “…..they’re driven, smart, hard working, intellectuals….As far as the show stating there’s a group of young hustlers in NY, I highly doubt it, since Columbia University is here, NYU is here, and everyone I know works their asses off , making an honest living, and after Wall Street collapsed, there were Wall street guys who lost everything, but they didn’t give up, some drove cabs, waited tables, made coffe at Starbucks and waiting to get another job or selling real estate on straight commission in a shitty market to live….so with all these facts, how can you do a stupid show calling N ew Yorkers hustlers? But I find it ignorant and insulting…..just like the stupid show ” Sex and the city” before was a ” wrong portrayal ” of NY women, that they’re shallow, shop and only talk about men with no self esteem…wrong! There are a lot of CEO’s here that are women, women doctors, women lawyers and most don’t have time to date or have sex! People in NY work their asses off to build a great life fpr themselves, so I think they should cancel this show becofe we egg it!!Newsflash: most of the ” billionares ” in America live in NY, this speaks volume about the city and its people! And we also have great hearts underneath all of our stress and tension from long hours of work! Now you facts verses fiction!
What ? So people sleep in NY ? That can’t be true…
A) Ohmigosh, get over yourself
B) What do you think the show’s about? I don’t really understand what you’re objecting to
You described exactly what the hustlers on this show are: driven to acheiving their goal ( creating a clothing line). I’m guessing you’ve never actually seen the show.
Did you also get offended when “Law and Order” had murderous New Yorkers? It would be ignorant to believe in a city of millions there are no hustler-types.
I bet you are alot of fun to be with
Newsflash: there are many subcultures of NY you obviously aren’t aware of. Street brands that start from nothing but a cult following. Musicians that are on a daily grind. It’s not all Wall Street and white collar work.
You just come off like a bitter person who works a 9 to 5 and is pissed off that you aren’t represented by the show. It’s not meant to represent every single person in the city…
you are crazy. no clue what you are talking about.
New Yorkers are low on self-awareness and don’t know how to properly use quotation marks.
I really love this show, its surprisingly sweet natured and fun. Been a while since it was on the air, not sure where its been.
Is this show set in 1988?
Is this an attempt to be funny?
Hey 777, you have no clue what you’re talking about. I live in NYC, let me correct you. No Wall Street people who lost everything ever worked at Starbucks, drove cabs, or waited tables, ever! Most billionaires DON’T live in NYC. Take a trip to Arkansas where the Walton’s live. There’s half a dozen billionaires there and trust me, they don’t wanna live in NYC and probably hardly ever visit here. If women doctors or lawyers are too bust to date then that’s there fault! Don’t work so hard and you’ll have the time to meet a partner.
I doubt you live in NYC much less even visit here.
